You can't use someone else's song and make money with it without asking. That's usually called a cover. And 90% of the time in the industry, musicians don't care if their music is used. Now, if that shitty indie nobody cover gains traction and makes money, guess who notices and wants their dime?

Misery has sold at least 220,000 copies in the past two weeks since launch. At $8.99, this is ~$1,970,000. Of course, money must go to the publisher, Steam takes 30%, but we can assume Maewing has around $1,000,000 in net sales. Now, don't you think Firelake might want some of that money, given their songs for a completely different game were unlicensed and used in this one?
