>Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
>Super Smash Bros Ultimate
>Super Mario Party
Party games that you could put a ton of time in playing by yourself/online, but are best if you can play them with friends
>Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Extremely casual social sim series, with a heavy emphasis on decoration, customization and collecting things (eg. catching fish and bugs). Notable for progressing in real time.
>Super Mario Odyssey
>Super Mario Bros. Wonder
The latest 3D and 2D Mario platformers. I don't personally care for Mario games that much, but Odyssey is widely acclaimed by people who do like them, and Wonder is probably my favorite 2D Mario I've played, it's very creative and polished.
>Pokémon
It's Pokémon. I'm a big fan, but you probably don't have any interest, and their performance on the Switch makes them a hard sell. If you were to consider trying it again, I honestly think it would probably be best to wait for Gen 10 coming out on the Switch 2 around this time next year.
>Ring Fit Adventure
This is a really creative one, think Wii Fit but it's an actual RPG game.
>Splatoon 3
Fun and stylish fast-paced third-person shooter. A lot more depth than it might seem on the surface and maybe a bit of a learning curve if you're not familiar with gyro controls.
>Fire Emblem: Three Houses
>Fire Emblem: Engage
Tactical RPGs famously featuring (optional) permadeath. Your party is a cast of characters you interact with in story and command on a grid map in battle. I personally think Engage is better and less ugly, but it might be a harder sell for a newcomer since it's kind of a fanservice game celebrating the series.
>Metroid Dread
The first 2D Metroid in almost 20 years and it lives up to its legacy, an excellent Metroidvania.
>Xenoblade Chronicles series
Open-world action RPGs developed by MonolithSoft.
>Bayonetta series
Combo action games developed by Platinum
>Shin Megami Tensei V (Vengeance)
Latest in the classic RPG series by Atlus
