Why doesn't anyone discuss this system anymore?

It was the best portable ever made and sold the most units outside the PS2 but it's basically forgotten.

Every single one I've found at a thrift store after 2020 has been broken

There aren't as many interesting games for it. The GBA was cool as shit because it was just powerful enough that you could do shit with it, but it'd take a lot of work and there were still a lot of limitations, so a lot of games for it were really creative or soulful. The DS, it was just strong enough that everyone could kinda make what they wanted to, instead of feeling ahead of its time. Not to mention the touch screen gimmick ironically meant that shit didn't feel as creative, as it was something developers were intended to use, and ultimately all had to to some degree due to being built-in.

Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks have their fans but they're pretty much "filler" installments
Like wise same with Squeak Squad though Superstar Ultra was great
NSMB is fun but it setting the stage of the gentrification of Mario platformers hasn't done much kindness for it
Prime Hunters is fun and introduced all sorts of fan favorites but it's more or less impressive as a showcase and compromise on the DS' hardware (FPS on the DS was kind of the 2000's equivalent of having Tiger Electronics Games, okay maybe not THAT harsh but still)
Command wrote Star Fox in a corner (multiple ones even)
Hotel Dusk and Another Code have their fans but are still pretty niche
Really it was probably the best system for Pokemon fans aside from DP's slowdown

Fantastic assortment of RPGs and DRPGs, but plenty of the RPGs on it are pure shite

In retrospect just wasn't all that good compared to the PSP.

Great system, but a lot of its library was not memorable. New Super Mario Bros. was generic and got three identical sequels at a rapid pace. Phantom Hourglass is actually bad. Much of the rest was shovelware or glorified Flash games that, even if good, are obscure and have little to talk about twenty years later.

And yet, you cannot counter its arguments, so what does that say about a knuckledragging mongoloid retard like yourself

Gba is still a Pokemon machine like gbc

Ds can stand on its own

Yes? that was the point I was making. Not many people have played Meteos or Ouendan and even if they have there is not much to talk about.
Compare and contrast with the Gamecube, a worse and less successful platform, that has had more staying power in the zeitgeist because Sunshine and The Wind Waker, flawed as they are, are 'real' Mario and Zelda games that people revisit as significant points in their respective series. Melee is Melee, and there are some other games with extant cult followings like Pikmin, F-Zero GX or The Thousand Year Door.
At this point the jaws of time have firmly swallowed all the DS games, outside of the bigger Pokemon releases.

Hardware-wise? Yes, considering the 3d capabilities of the NDS, it should've come with an analog nub like the shit the 3DS had (and the 3DS for that matter should've had two analog sticks rather than needing a fucking cancerous tumor of a fucking accessory just exclusively made for MonHun and Kid Icarus). Nevermind the single touch screen that should've been phased out by a multi-touch screen as soon as that technology was readily available (it would've saved the PiiU a little bit for sure)
Software however, the NDS' library turbogiga mogs the shit out of the PSP and it's not even close. The NDS is right there with the PS2 as a console with a fantastic library of games.

Nah, GBA is full of innovative new games.
DS is just Mario Kart DS and then a whole bunch of mediocre sequels to GBA games or the worst version of multiplats.

It never entered the cultural zeitgeist like other consoles. Like if I was still a little kid and started playing with my Nintendo DS I'm pretty my mom would refer to it as a "GAME BOY".

Do you not remember this type of thing? Where you could be playing an Xbox 360 and clueless older family members would still refer to it as something like a "NINTENDO"?
