Should I buy a Switch for the convenience of it?
I know Switch emulators are great, but I wanna know if the convenience on playing on your bed is worth it. What do you Switch owners say? Inb4 “just buy the Switch 2 bro”, it costs more than double the price of the Switch 1 in my country, I can’t afford it.

The switch 1 is really not worth it, get an 'eck or a Switch 2

Just grab a Steam Deck. Nintendo is notorious for giving lifetimes to the online services of their handhelds, and besides, you most definitely won't be able to mod that thing without the corp bricking your ass.

Get it if you want to play Pokemon, Metroid or whatever, but just compare what you have on Steam that you wouldn't be able to play on the Switch.

I already have a decent PC and I play Steam games there. I would buy a Switch for the convenience of playing on my bed and being able to play Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Vanillaware games, etc, most of those I have never played, not even the classic ones, only Zelda. Is the Switch 1 easy to hack though? I heard you need to solder a chip inside it…

It's hackable, apparently. But if you just want it for the exclusives, then go for it.

Why not just save up for a 2? The 1 is about to stop getting releases in the next year or so. Horrible time to get in. And you'd miss out on all next gen exclusives.

I don't feel comfortable spending so much money on a Switch 2 just yet, I'm gonna wait until it costs at least half the current price.

By the time you buy a Switch 1 and a 2 later in its life cycle you'd have spent Switch 2 money altogether. Food for thought. Might as well play games in the best possible shape.

There are a bunch of exclusives and classic Nintendo games in it.

Most of it is just shovelware. There is a handful of good exclusives I guess though

The Switch 2 isn't worth the price right now.

>The majority of Switch 1 games don't play better on the Switch 2 unless they've had an upgrade pack. Just putting 99% of Switch 1 games into the Switch 2 makes no difference in framerate.
>The LCD screen on the Switch 2 is objectively worse than the OLED screen on the Switch 1. Wait until they release a better version
>There are no good third party joycons yet
>The current exclusives are dogshit. Air Riders is mediocre, MKW is awful, and DK Bonanza is decent. I have very little hope left with Prime 4

TLDR Give it two to three more years and just get a SteamDeck or Switch 1 now

I mean it has some big games. The rest of the supposed hundreds are babyslop shovelware that isn't worth touching

If you wanted to buy one I'd say get a Switch 2 because there wouldn't be much point buying a Switch 1 now, but if that's not an option then just emulate. Unless you legitimately think you'd be playing in bed and on the shitter constantly and not just 20 minutes before turning the lights off and going to sleep you're not missing out on much by emulating. Also bear in mind that console games in general and Nintendo games in particular tend to be more expensive than PC games on the whole and don't get as many or as steep discounts and there's the possibility of games being sold out and gone (In physical form) so if money's much of a concern you're still better off emulating since you'd be spending less and have the entire library with all patches and DLC

Get a Switch 1 and hack it. Or easier just get a ROG Ally and pirate a gajillion PC games.

Why?
Anonymous No.725428064 [Report]
You cant play it on the bed because it's way too wide.
Try holding a book sideways in bed.
Anonymous No.725429557 [Report]
If you are too broke for a switch 2 you are too broke for console gaming. Get a PC and emulate/pirate everything.

If you want to play portably get a Switch Lite to save a few bucks. If you want to use it as a console I'd save up for a few months and get the Switch 2 even if you admit it's too expensive to buy now. The original Switch is very hard to recommend as a console since you'll want to upgrade it anyway. But if you're cool with the library it has now and are okay with a lot of games running at 30 fps go for it. But saving for a Switch 2 would be better in the long run.
