I've noticed like 90% of the positive reviews say the same thing: Get this even if you don't like shmups.

I disagree. It's brutally unfairly punishing right from the beginning. There are traps that pop out and instantly kill you, and move faster than you so you can't react to them, you just have to memorize them. Even if I memorized the traps there are constantly situations where there's 90-95% of the screen completely covered in projectiles, and I'm still talking about the FIRST LEVEL. It's a thoroughly stressful experience, and I never felt anything approaching "fun" at any point while I was playing. If you're not already good at shmups give this one a pass.

This is the first shmup I ever played and I thought it was awesome up until it asked you to do an avoidance section of unspecified length at the end which gives you an amount of hits based on how much grinding you've done + takes some away if you died on the final boss before it at all instead of resetting each death, that bit was really stupid

i like shmups but i never finished this game, it's easy to get hit by random stray bullet because everything is green and orange

It's really easy for a shmup, dude.

And yes, that's what shmups are. You memorise the layouts so you're not standing where all the bullets are.

Personally I didn't care that much for the game. Great music, the rest was lacking. Their follow up, which wasn't a shooter, was the best game I've played in 20 years.

Yeah, you can suck ass at shmups and eventually beat this game, but I find it's not very satisfying as someone who prefers not to credit feed. Maybe someday it will click.

I keep going back to it. It was my first shmup, and I played after the absolute masterpiece that was Void Stranger, that made me intrerested in whatever the fuck these finnish people make
