This hacking minigame is incredibly frustrating and unfair. They only give you four attempts to randomly guess the correct password from a pool of around twenty words. It's practically a game of pure chance, relying entirely on RNG, which makes the whole process feel utterly ridiculous and infuriating.

It's not hard, but it's tedious and gets annoying doing it too much. I've got like 200 hours in New Vegas and still don't have the achievement for hacking 25 terminals. I'd rather pick a very hard lock than hack a very easy terminal.
