meh it's a title from a mid-sized studio punching above its weight. it also leverages ai in ways that are innovative and show a way forward for game development--namely enemies trained via machine learning rather than rote scripted behavior, and pretty cool voice obfuscation for prox chat.
if their ai use allows them to iterate quickly and pump out loads of cool content, new npcs, new robots, etc, i'm honestly not too worried about voice actors who feel they're entitled to get paid for literally just sitting there and talking. if your services aren't needed, just get a different fucking job like anybody else would.

Functionally this is a barebones 3rd person shooter battle royale with a lot of timewasting farming. I unironically thought wildlards pvp, for the year tops it was alive, was some of the best third person pvp out there. 4v4, round based, unique ops, lots of options to find snipers and campers, lots of ways to play most maps. Its the last 9/10 3rd person shooter I played.

Id put arc at a 7/10 in terms of the environment and pvp. The looting, ui, searching is all a solid 3/10 but the robots are interesting and fun to engage, the players spawning in mid round is interesting take (the server is never truly "safe" despite how many players you kill), the tools available are varied and allows for a lot of emergent gameplay with prox chat.

That's fair and I never played Wildlands because it was a GPU tie-in game from Ubi so it seemed like it wouldn't even be worth installing. I'll go look at what it offered. I really like the PvP aspect of AR but despite the polish there isn't nearly enough going on with the combat and it's too slow for me especially the looting. I'm a bit salty I can't return AR after playing with buddies so hopefully some revamps happen later as people start to be more critical of the first polished shooter in years.

The world itself is neat ish, the robots are a decent threat (and also remind me heavily of the robots from Oblivion movie back in 2014?), and the matches you load into have some variables. As an example, servers are up for 30 minutes but as players die / leave, new players will load in. So you can load in 15 minutes in with half the exits already closed, people already half looted the map. So then it becomes a battle of finding people who have looted for 15 minutes, sneaking up and killing loot pinata people and then trying to convince everyone else not to shoot you as you get to extract. Least thats how I play it.

The game isnt like omg shit your pants goty. But it's a decent 7/10 to me.

They gave CONCORD a better score. Arc Raiders runs amazing in UE5, and the sound design is amazing too. Proximity audio works great, enemy AI is great.
