It's kinda interesting that the time between each new Bethesda release just keeps growing and growing, yet the quality of their games just keeps dropping.

well good news, anon! they said Starfield was a great creative reset to use as a base for TES6!

I'm sure Bethesda will learn from their past mistakes this time.

I disagree. Quality is going up but not proportionally to time.
Skyrim >>> Shitlivion btw

Because long-production games are usually long-production because nobody gives a shit, nobody has a creative vision and everybody is aiming to clock in and clock out without doing any real work. What's the point in making a good game when you joined the company for a cushy 9-5, fired all the passionate people for being White Male Scum, and the success or failure of the game doesn't actually impact the company in any way?

Concord was a collapse that should have destroyed the company that produced it. Yet they barely felt a thing. That's a problem.

Skyrim was a flash in the pan where like half of the cool stuff was added in the last 3 months of dev time when howard gave up on the game.
Reminder that the werewolf system was about to get completely canned until two guys made the entire thing from scratch in the span of 5 days, 2 weeks before the game hit the shelves (and then they put the already finished werewolf perk tree behind a paywall for the hell of it).
Also most of Skyrim's dev team left bethesda

Is that why werewolves are so fucking buggy?

Yup, for 6 months todd and some other guy tried to basically make a big human who would punch people to death and it looked like shit (also the reason why you sometimes get pic related, that's leftover code), they almost scrapped it, and then two guys remade the entire system from scratch

Development began around 2008.
Except for people at the very top, 17 years in a game dev job is basically unheard of.

The bug I was thinking of is where the killcam will just freeze for a few seconds allowing enemies free reign to hit you.
