Black mesa's gameplay isn't all that great, though. The leaks show a snapdragon 8 gen 3, which is more powerful than the samsung XR which is XR2+ gen 2, quest 3 is just XR gen 2. This was originally rumored to be a $1200 device. Even if they decide to shoot lower there's no reason to shoot on the same price tier as meta so a $600-700 device which make sense which is like deck oled pricing. There's no way this isn't better than the quest 3 in every way or it will be a pointless product, except maybe valve won't fuck with a time of flight depth sensor.

But honestly the story was ass. It was meandering and unsatisfying. They go to the Arctic; Alyx is taken by G-Man; the end.
HLA just switches shit around so that HL3 can have a proper ending to the series. G-man already has Alyx, so that thread will be resolved before the next installment (the last one, HL3) ends. The Combine are a bit fucked anyways since Episode 2. All Gordon has to do is not get mindraped to death by the remaining advisors and the Combine is wiped off Earth.

I think the biggest mistake for the franchise was their infatuation with HL2.

What humanity does with the scraps of the Combine's transhumanist research, cults proclaiming that the future of human evolution is in their hands, nature slowly recovering after the Combine rape and pillage that took place over the last twenty years. And then, boom, another invasion, but this time, the Combine isn't bothering with augmented human soldiers and oversized biomechanical insects. Hell, take it out of Earth entirely, maybe Freeman's next assignment is liberating an alien city, except the people you're fighting turn out to be humans 200 years in the future. There's untapped potential in the concept of being a time-hopping agent for a space-warping entity.
