The Division 2. They are good. Teaching 2 of them about money now that they are in their teens. Career has been easy mode for almost 5 years now. COVID was a god send for the market.

i need some advice from you guys, im 42 here. I've been playing video games all my life, in many different genres, from Civilization to Warcraft to Wolfenstein 3D to Halo to Half Life to Fallout to Fornite to Red Dead Redemption to The Witcher to Cyberpunk 2077 and many in between. My wife knew this shortly after we met and of course when we got married. She had always said that she doesn't "get them" or understand why anyone would want to play them but she understood that it was something I found relaxing and enjoyable.

Fast forward to this week and she flat out tells me (while we were arguing about something else) that she thinks video games are juvenile, she can't believe that a 42 year old man plays them, and that playing them makes me less attractive to her. For reference, I'm a manager at work, we have a nice house, four kids and 2 dogs. So it's not like I'm just bumming around. And I take care of my hygiene and appearance - basically I don't fall into any of the negative gamer stereotypes. I also play when everyone else is asleep so it's not cutting into family or housework time. It does mean that I tend to sleep in on weekend mornings though, which she doesn't like, as she's more of a morning person.

what do? Is there any hope of her changing how she feels? She knows that some of them are very much not for kids and that it's a bigger industry than movies, but it doesn't change how she feels. Should I give up gaming? That would feel like a huge sacrifice but would probably have big benefits. Or do we just live with this?

My first son is old enough to understand games now and playing Minecraft together is a joy
My career is well paying but the workload is oppressive even if the expectations for slogging through it are reasonable

>Should I give up gaming?
sorry, but are you retarded? no you shouldn't
Videogames are a form of entertainment.
She doesn't need to "get it", since she's not playing them.
If she watches TV, uses her phone, social media etc, she's also consuming a form of entertainment.
She's being told by the masses that videogames are for kids.
She should be happy that you're enjoying something that doesn't fuck your life up, while also having time for her and your family.

I'll be playing videogames in my fucking grave, is something I enjoy,
Be careful anon, lots of friends are having issues with their wives with similar stuff like yours

Mostly CK3 these days. Bit of Trepang2 as well, which is fun. I may buy EUV, but I'm most likely going to wait a while for them to iron out the bugs and such.
>How are the wife and kid?
Nonexistent.
>How's the career?
Going pretty well. Our wages haven't kept up with inflation and the Canadian government intervened in the last contract negotiation to screw us over in favour of the company, but it's still decent and I enjoy the day to day stuff.

>games
Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 but also some CS2. Just beat Resident Evil 8. Bought some games on sale this week though and now have all of the DMC games on Steam, the Klonoa remasters, and the new Lumines. Not sure what I'll play tonight. Really wanting to finish Death Stranding 2 but I've grown to dislike my PS5.
>family
Wife is excited about Lumines. Old son is playing Metal Gear Rising, young son wants to play Rocket League right now. They're all doing great.
>career
Had a career that seemed to die after COVID, don't want to go back to it. Working at a great job alongside my wife but the pay is pretty awful. Been back in school for about a year, hoping to be able to get a OK paying job off the back of some certs by next year if things go OK. Life is very good.

She was just mad and wanted you to feel bad, typical girl lol. She probably has a dozen little things she does that’s ridiculous or stupid but hopefully you didn’t put her down. Honestly just get fit. Bitches literally won’t do shit and let you get away with anything if you’re tight. Regardless tho just don’t bother her with your hobby and don’t make her feel like you pick it over her or her plans cause that shit will cause her to melt down

Forgot to mention that we're all playing Fortnite a lot this season. Last time I played a lot was during the Peter Griffin/Snake season. Springfield map is fun and neat but fortnite is only in rotation sometimes at my house. Bought DBD on Steam to play with my big son in co-op, not a great game but he likes it a lot. It is kind of fun but just thin.

I wouldn't take it seriously, it was something said during an argument. She'll either apologize or won't, either way, you guys will overcome. Play games and be sweet to your sweetie. Take her out to dinner and buy her something. Eat her butt.

I stumbled into a promotion in a job I was going to ditch because of shitty management. Different job site and everything. The timing feels like I might get loaded with bullshit but I'm okay with that for now. Happened at every job I've ever had so far, can't say I'm surprised.

Women do not process their decisions or feelings with logic. Ever. At all. They cannot be convinced by using logic. So you saying "but it doesn't take up family time and I'm not a fucking loser" isn't going to convince her.
Likely she's been convinced by social media or her friends that gaming is juvenile. Because women function on concensus reality and emotions, you have to use those tools to convince her.
So you should tell her all the successful men you know also game, even if this is a lie. It isn't, even jewwood stars game these days.
Then you need to make it a positive thing to her emotionally. Maybe game with your kids, so its a positive relation to her. I'm not sure other ways to do that but give it a think and I'm sure you can come up with something.

The key thing is to approach a woman on their level. Logic doesn't work so don't even bother with that.
Also the anon that said she was just coming up with stuff to emotionally hurt you is likely right as well. Again, women do not argue from a place of logic so hurting the opponent emotionally is their first choice.
And finally, women do not argue and then get over it. They hold grudges basically permanently. So even if you were to logically back her into a corner, she won't accept the "loss" and will hold it against you that you won at all. If you want to win this and have her be happy about it, you need to convince her that gaming is healthy, good for you, and most importantly for her. Maybe get some "ideas" on how to do things with her from gaming and tell thats where the ideas came from, I dunno.

I hope it works out for you man. I hate to see a guy with two kids end up going down the old "wife turns into a nagging shrew" route. Women are great when they're great, but man they can fuck up your life.

Last games I played were ready or not, silksong, and BF6. out of all of those, silksong brought me the most joy.

Kid situation sucks and it would be nice if him and his mother were vaporized. I'm paying $1600/mo in child support because according to the gov't, my 91k/yr gross income makes me john d. rockerfeller.

my career is the only thing good in my life. something has to give eventually.

Hopefully some Valheim with the boys if anyone ever gets on. Friend just got the server running yesterday, but no one has been on all day despite it being a holiday in Candastan.

Gave up on women in my mid 20s.
>How's the career?
Finally looking like I landed somewhere I can stay at for a while. I got laid off early during wuflu. Took the gibs for a year. Went to school for comp eng just in time for the bottom to fall out of that industry and have been bouncing and barely getting by for two years since. Now I'm doing sprayfoam application, sacrificing some lung lifetime for a good paycheque to get back on my feet.
