borderlands has a story, you beat the story then never touch the game again. maybe you go through with a different class. then on to the next game.
some of these storylines are cringe as fuck and make you wish it never happened as you ignore it. you are constantly upgrading guns and tossing out the old. then you swap games and everything is gone.
destiny had a storyline, it is only barely coherent through hours of youtube videos. none of it is ingame and the majority isnt playable.
the shooting and movement is better. once you find a gun you like you can use it forever. kind of. unless bungie decides to nerf it, remove it from the game, powercreep it or sunset it.
borderlands is a complete game. d2 is better but constantly getting fucked over by bungie removing shit and adding worse items.
