I actually had a prompt written in the original threads all those years ago, I went and dug it up from my old college laptop:
The year is 1997.

Detroit, Michigan, USA.
For the past half century the cold war has gone on, unending with no end in sight, between the United States and the Soviet Union. Things have changed back in the heartland of the United States, though, as jobs and industry have been moving overseas for the past decade en masse. The city of Detroit finds itself with massive unemployment, rampant crime, and a shrinking police force, and what police there are sit comfortably in the pockets of big business.
You were the best cop in the city, but after a raid gone horribly wrong you quit the force for good. With nowhere else to turn you do the only thing you know how: fight. As a vigilante you are beyond the law. Above the law. You serve justice. Real justice at the expense of the corrupt system. With only your closest friends and their contacts you begin to fight back.
You fight the gangs of the city, the police who hunt you, the mercenaries employed to assassinate you, the robots that lurk in the shadows, which silently remove the dregs of the city.
It is time to bring The Man down.
The police hound after you. The corporations demand retribution. The newspapers call you gangsters, thieves, and murderers.
You, however, call yourselves:

FUNK PATROL 2000.
It is up to you and your funky crew to beat back The Man and save your city. Are you a bad enough dude to save Detroit?
No one has plot armor. Everyone can die. You can even lose, villains can win.
Welcome to the genre of cyberpimp noir.
