The originals were very different and their lack of physical analog sticks made them kinda awkward for games made with controller in mind. The finger tracking doesn't work as reliably as you'd hope, and makes you wish it had a simple grip button/trigger instead.
Sticks feel worse than the Xbox-style ones on the Touch.
The little oval trackpad is also finnicky and I'm not sure what it was intended for. It can theoretically act like a scroll wheel for zooming in/out of things etc, but again it doesn't work reliably, and it's strangely shaped such that it has barely any room for side to side thumb movement even though the tech can track it.

The strap system and being able to relax and open your hand without dropping it is the only major advantage they have imo
