Not really weaker but about the same. It has less Cores and CUs but is using the latest architectures. PS5 is Zen 2 and RDNA 2, but this this one is Zen 4 and RDNA 3.

On the CPU side I'm sure the Steam console destroys the PS5's Cpu but not so sure about the Gpu with only half the CUs, and not to mention the lower bandwidth too.

Overall is a pretty shitty console for something being released in 2026 it won't be able to keep up with the PS6 releasing in 2027 at all.

Switch 2 is weaker than my new iPhone, hardware is not everything...

Honestly with the data starting to come out that shows just how much launching in a state of poor PC performance (even if I would argue most is coming from the majority of PC users currently stuck with outdated hardware) can just completely flat-line sales momentum combined with just the lack of sustainability of the current AAA industry screaming for changes to cut back on budget and dev time I fully expect the push for visual fidelity to die out with devs focusing on making games that can run on as many different hardware configurations as possible. I hope you like the more cartoony visuals of Valorant or Overwatch, but that's probably going to become the future standard. If that pivot happens, the specs will be fine for it.

I dont think it's necessarily just an engine issue, as easy as it is to point to UE as a scapegoat, because we also have plenty of instances over the course of this console gen ever since we moved past the era of cross-gen games being made for both PS4 and PS5 of PC ports with "poor" performance among a variety of game engines. There are definitely better setups but the caveat with Pi 5 is that some formats may be harder for it to transcode if it needs to, otherwise everything works pretty well. I don't know much about VR but a friend of mine who actively dabbles in that stuff says he is excited about it. Apparently it has 2 separate antennas for Wifi, one of which is for direct wireless streaming only completely ignoring the router(which to be fair can add a ton of delay).

I don't really think Steam is trying to compete with the firms who'll shell out 2k - 3k for a top end computer just to play CoD just yet. This is more for a general audience which just wants to access Steam but not want to buy 500 billion parts.
The only problem I can see is that there might not be a big enough of a market for this "grey zone" where the computer is good enough and they might need to make a second iteration that's supposed to be upgraded if you're an enthusiast or something
