Its just the same but with some slapped on city building. I really dont know why octopath has such an issue doing what Live a live managed to do way better 3 decades ago.

The demo has a lot more content than you can cover in three hours they let you play. The main story is adapted almost 1:1 from Champions of the Continent but there's small edits here and there like a character moved from one place to another or a flashback shown at a different time etc. and it's all tied together with a new story about your MC which is basic stuff but I guess it works? I'm honestly just happy CotC storylines are gonna be shown to more people because they're pretty good. I think the game expects you to explore and recruit more people before diving into the storyline however because the enemies are tuned a bit higher than I'd expect if you just rush forward. There's some new music already, it's pretty good. The English voice acting is also a pleasant surprise. I wish they had updated some of the OT1 assets, the game looks very dated even for its artstyle but at least they updated some of the old CotC cutscenes to look less flat.
Overall I think if you wanted to play the gacha for the story but were turned off by mobile game nature of it all you'll enjoy this one if you hated Octopath to begin with this one won't turn you around.

Man I just want the dataminers to start cracking at this demo to see if there's some interesting

I played both 1 and 2 and only enjoyed 2. I don't know if I'm going to support 0, I'm normally willing to make compromises but they've somehow made a game that has over 30 characters without any that appeal to me. It's just annoying because I'm looking at the gacha and there's definitely a handful of designs that are right up my alley but somehow they didn't want to bring any of this to 0. I'm okay with new characters as well but again, they haven't really shown any to get me interested. I might still try the demo later so I could have a change of heart but I'm busy playing another game right now.

As someone who has never played the past games and downloaded the demo because I thought thought it looked cool in the snoy direct I'd say it's pretty fun.

I like it and I'm always down for more OT even though this one really just looks like a mod of OTI with town building. I won't get it at launch because it releases on the same day as Metroid Prime 4, but probably in January.

Do you guys like the Octopath world?

I wonder what will happen first, a brand new game or a 0-2 with the Solista stories.
