I’m a ps5 only guy but I hope they find success, I’m sure Valve has modest expectations, Xbox and PlayStation gamers with a digital library going back around a decade or more aren’t really the market for this. They late looking to bring up the low end of the Steam surveys and maybe Xboxers jumping ship with a play anywhere library. PlayStation and Nintendo will continue on as if nothing happened.

I think this is good for Sony because they are going to have a market position selling a cheaper console that’s more powerful. The biggest difference is that unlike the consoles its a small discrete GPU instead of a large integrated GPU.
We might get some better driver stuff for RDNA3 AMD cards as well, like better FSR and big releases testing properly for AMD architecture.

David Lynch's movie is interesting visually (although what the fuck was he thinking with the pugs) but it feels like a low budget science fiction romance. Haven't seen the series, looks dogshit.
The thing with Dune is that it's very difficult to translate because Frank Herbert created the books at the peak of the LSD movement and tried to create a hard sci-fi movie that integrated this notion of psychedelic awakening into space travel, interstellar politics and religion, basically creating the notion of experiencing an interstellar jihad on acid.

The books are extremely interesting because how they explore all these themes, specially the politics. For example, the reason why I'm so butthurt about the shielding mechanic is because lore-wise they are a deterrent that shape the entirety of combat strategy. Yes, they protect you from impacts but the shields can't be shot at with lasers, they are basically nukes, so this creates a whole intergalactic dynamic where wars must be fought at close range.
Politics of trade are also very interesting with the Space Guild having a monopoly over travel.
AI banned because of an AI insurrection that almost wiped out humanity.
And of course, the reality bending/psychic powers due to space LSD (spice).
The actual good shit about the book would be very difficult to translate to the big screen without making it very boring or hard to understand to the average movie-goer (translate: retard).
The only person who could have come close to it was Jodorowsky. Who is known for all the trippy shit he makes, he even wanted Pink Floyd to make the sound track and had Giger make the concepts and art work. Sadly, he blew the budget of the movie, probably on drugs, and it was never done. Although there's a good documentary about it called Jodorowsky's Dune
