More games should have that.
Someone should absolutely be torturing and harassing Refraction until he merges PGS in. This is so fucking stupid. I just about want to make a sock, call him a stupid faggot for refusing to put it in, and eating the ban.

Can hackers really take over my system through my Nintendo 64 emulator?

The opening logo screen in Slam Dragon (Japan) is broken in both duckstation and mednafen. Neither of them play the audio or animation correctly. Works fine on hardware obviously.
But what an experience it is to play this game in Duckstation. Boot it up and the first thing you'll see is the corrupted SCPH1000 BIOS, then you'll hear broken crackling BIOS audio, a separate bug, then you'll see the broken Jaleco logo screen, a third unrelated bug, then if you try and upscale that doesn't work, bug number 4, and if you do it with Vulkan that's a hard crash, bug number 5. Golly jee emulation sure is shitty and unreliable I guess I'll pay Matt $300 for a physical copy that he can blow on Genshin Impact right? That's how this racket works isn't it? These vermin will deliberately break whatever game their friends happen to be pumping on the second hand market.

>>526355506I used SNES-GT for a minute there. Guess I was somehow convinced it was more accurate than ZSNES in ~2009. Nowadays SNES9x and Mesen-S have those fixes too.
>>526355506>>526355941Are emulators even legal in Japan?

>>526354238It all depends on a few things. One, the thing needs to get hacked so people can get decrypted game dumps. Two, we need developers that aren't scared of Nintendo to work on them. That's the difficult part, after what happened to Puzu and Ryujinx.

>>526378402>>526379261>>526380210Honestly who cares about the Dreamcast? The app store with all it garbage still has a better library.
>>526356357No but emulation is generally frowned upon in Japan. There are exceptions but japs are notorious corpo dickhuggers.
>>526383084Only publicly. Goofygookland is all about appearance and how other people see you. Once you're in private all that shit goes. Pokemon pearl was download by japs 3 million times.
>>526383218This. Just like all other Asian nations (which includes even Russia), it's all about "face" culture. You want to be perceived as following the mold in every way. However, the moment they realize they can get away with not following the norms or law without being noticed, they do not second-guess it.
>>526383605It's the same reason I don't buy their supposed extremely low crime rate. Yeah everyone's a model citizen in public but they're completely different people in private. Most crime in all countries is committed by people against their own family members. And in Japland where honor is everything it's considered embarrassing and shameful to be a victim of crime so 99% of it isn't reported.
>>526384106Well, even here we should make a distinction between individual honor and collective honor. Honor cultures in general do tend toward under-reporting crimes, as reporting risks making the loss of honor public, but when said culture tends toward individualism, the remedy often takes the form of settling the score (an eye for an eye), whereas in collectivist societies, it depends on how centralized and effective state power is. If the state is powerful and consolidated enough, you won't want to risk doing anything, as there will be reprisals and further loss of honor, so the best move is to do nothing. If it isn't, however, the move is to gather those close to you and deliver reciprocal collective punishment upon the perpetrator and those close to him.
>>526381580>Honestly who cares about the Dreamcast?I do

>>526384106>i dOnT buY itEven considering that they'll keep certain things on the downlow (oh no they may download a ROM or fudge some white collar/regulatory shit now and then -- Al Capone over here) that cultural standard means public life is far safer and cleaner than any western nation could hope to be. The vandalism, assault, and public chimpouts are practically nonexistent compared to us. Their trains are safe and don't run a minute late. Ours are hell. This game is quite good but why did they change Mainframe to Dataframe?
So in my testing of DOS games on 86Box (yes, I'm still building up my DOS Expansion Pack, just need to get more variety in there), I've noticed late DOS games like Command and Conquer actually make the emulation slow down intermittently. This is at 120 MHz, so maybe at lesser speeds those games would work fine on my potato. However, I ran into a game I didn't expect would also cause slowdowns: Silpheed. This is a game made to run on slow 386 machines, yet it causes frequent (though mild) emulation slowdowns. I'm guessing it's making the CPU work at full throttle despite not at all needing all that processing power, so probably running a slower CPU would ironically make it emulate better.
This is, by the way, a custom-made "hybrid version" that adds features exclusive to the IBM PS/1 version of the game, bringing it closer to the PC-88 original with sound effects and speech handled by the Sound Blaster card rather than the PC speaker (which elevate its sound immensely - you can actually understand what the villain says!). It also adds better stereo Sound Blaster Pro FM music as compared to the mono Adlib support of the regular DOS version, but honestly, there's no beating the MT-32 music. It's just too bad you can't have both MT-32 and FluidSynth General MIDI support on 86Box. They really ought to have it so you can switch between them without needing to reconfigure everything.
As for the game itself, it's quite great. It has that polish you can only get from 80's nip autism. Hard, but fair, is how I'd evaluate it.
And my suspicions were correct. Switching to a 75 MHz Pentium makes it so Silpheed runs perfectly well on my computer with zero emulation slowdowns. Interesting to see how some older games, despite not actually running better or faster, still attempt to tax the CPU as much as they can, as if trying to squeeze as much juice as possible out of it.

Weird question.
How much emulator development resources are there in Japanese?
I know there are some Qiita/Note blogposts of Japanese guys making gameboy or famicom emulators or whatnot (i.e https://qiita.com/kmtoki/items/578e8e57ab0e76590d6d, https://hackmd.io/@anqou/HJcvRrwy9, https://mjhd.hatenablog.com/entry/2021/04/14/221813, etc)
There's even a YT video series where some guy makes a GB emulator in r*st https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWBUOgYd0pA

>buy picrel controller, download and install Dolphin and get the games
It's all working swimmingly except for one thing...the sticks on the controller aren't that sensitive in the middle. (Well, the left, I haven't done anything yet that requires such sensitivity on the right, but I assume it's the same deal.)
It's not like I remember the games being. Outside of the most central portions the sticks control well. But the first bit of movement from the resting center point is off, I think.
I remember the contoller (on the real console) being very sensitive, like it would respond to the movement straight away right from the center point. The character would starting walking, ever so slow. I particularly remember this is Mario Sunshine, he would start to walk very slowly. And in MKDD you could move the stick ever so slightly to steer right or left ever so slightly.
But right now I'm getting no register, no movement for the slight movement on the left stick, and then all of a sudden a big input after a certain point. This is making the steering in MKDD very shaky, I can't register slight steering, I'm jutting left and right.
So because I'm a total n00b, I'm wondering what the problem is;
- is this something I need to configure in Dolphin (which I haven't done, I just assigned the buttons basically)?
- or is it something inherent to the controller (because I was thinking about getting another controller anyway, and was thinking of getting a different model or different brand)? Or maybe something inherent to all 'Hall Effect' type sticks? I heard that even though they have good durability they don't have good accuracy/sensitivity?
do you anons watch movies or tv shows if you're playing a game that needs grinding to win?
>>526586670Lower the deadzone option in Dolphin's controller config.
>>526570603Of course it has. It was just a harmless failure of a console until some mod forced it down everyone's throat because he liked it. And of course it caused everyone who browsed the board to hate it.

"Hey bingwahootendie is coming out with this exciting high quality remaster of classic blah blah shit we'd like to work with you to make it less appealing to players to emulate the game and get them to buy it etc..." They didn't do it obviously because they're functional human beings that don't need to destroy their own work for 50 bucks but I'm sure those same offers go out to all the usual emudildos and I guarantee some of them take the offer.
for once I'd like you to put up or shut up fagstank
>>526608856I don't have years old screenshots from Discord. You can argue whether any emutranny would be unscrupulous enough to destroy their own work for money, but do you really not think affiliate marketing scammers would try it?
It's a hustle man. I am a mentally deranged narcissistic life loser that took half a software engineering course before I dropped out and moved back home to mooch off mom and dad and the welfare system. Give me money and positive attention on the vague hope that I will one day deliver a working emulator. Don't ask where the money is going though and don't tell the federal government that I'm collecting welfare and donations at the same time ;) I will also disappear for weeks or months at a time with no explanation. Any accusation that my code looks suspiciously similar to that of other more talented people's will result in your expulsion from my online fiefdom. If I feel I'm not getting enough attention I will start pretending to be a woman.
I don't even hate stankposting anymore. It's fun. It's better than emu/gen. I'm sure most emudevs are lazy spiteful mutants but I'd rather have their works than not, if only for the toy factor of messing with them. >>526587473No. I just grind and dissociate, imagining the rest of the game I could play when the grind is over or anything else, really.
The PPSSPP update most importantly adds infrastructure mode, so hopefully the games with revival servers see a boost in players. And they can seemlessly play with original hardware.
Psrewired is the main one but there's others.
What the fuck is wrong with this? Is it a bug?
>>526572457Not yet. It's been a slog going through DOS games lately, mostly because of work stuff. Can MGBA do link play with original game boy games or just advance ones? When I use new multiplayer window it does show up as player 2. But when I press to link, the first player's game just flashes and goes back to the title screen and the second resets entirely and gets locked into fast forward.
Even if I didn't know what Matt looked like I could still picture exactly what he looked like. I remember him telling me that he'd tried to emulate the PCFX years ago but it never got anywhere. Maybe he should give it another shot since he's clearly not interested in the PS1 anymore.

Is anyone else running a Raspberry Pi for emulation? Mine is a Pi 4.
Is there a solid guide on using RetroPie / RetroArch in it?
I have no linux experience, so I guess I'll need to learn how to work the file manager inside it at minimum. I wanted to watch videos on it as well.
But am I required to have a D-input controller? My Xbox One controller through USB doesn't work out of the box.
The rom auto load method worked for my N64 roms, but I guess I didn't let it load long enough for my PS1 roms, hopefully it restarts the next time I have that USB plugged in, I heard it can take many hours if you have a lot of files. I guess I should stick to the games I'll actually play.
The image almost looks too clean, almost want to slap a scanline filter on it. I'm going to see what a sprite based game looks like soon.

>>526586670>>526587808>>526592384>>526592976>>526593470I upgraded the controllers firmware. Then I did the Windows calibration thing. Then I did the calibration in Dolphin again. Again, deadzone at 0%. Still no difference. Maybe it is justy the controller. I think I'll buy something different and confirm if it's the controller or not.
Should I go for the official Xbox controller?
Or some kinda GameSaar one?
(I want it to be an Xbox controller vs a generic or a modern Nintendo style one because I want the analog triggers (for GameCube games). I also want this style of layout not the Sony style layout (dpad + left stick swapped).)

>>526703224That game was one of the first showed when the PS4 was annonced. It was a showcase of what next-gen graphics could be and a counterpart to Gran Turismo as the Sony Racing Game... And then... The game was a disaster at lauch with the devs literally admiting the multiplayer was broken on a fondamental level in the code, which was the death sentence for the game who faded into obscurity.

>>526703224glad gpucode didn't go awol and completely disappear like all the other citra devs.

>>526706768My god, this game reeks of "old gen project quickly upscaled to be a next gen launch title".
>>526708524That's because it WAS
It was going to be a gamecube game until MS snatched rare
>>526702016I mean, it sort of made sense at the time, when CPUs were still kinda shit. But yeah, later on it was unneeded. Again, the problem is that there was still a good bunch of games made during that time period that made use of hardware accelerated sound features, and unlike say, Glide, there's no wrapper you can use to just be able to use those features, hence the need for emulation, which is only now being tackled.
And also unlike Glide and other graphic APIs, 86Box will not be a panacea either. Even if they get around to emulating the cards that use it, most of the games that use EAX or A3D are heavy and require hardware well beyond what 86Box will ever be able to emulate even on top-end hardware.

Mystery nigga
Gonna try making an emulator. Should I:
>make a Gameboy emulator
>make a GBA emulator
>make a DS emulator
>make a PS1 emulator
>make an 80x86 emulator
>>526721587Have you tried emulating a CHIP-8? If not, I hear that's a good platform for beginner emu devs.
>>526703156play it for 30 seconds
>>526709875PCem and friends have clearly topped out regarding guest specs ages ago. It's honestly time for a new x86 emulator if we want one to tackle EAX, GeForce 1-3, and Pentium 3-4 with any efficiency.
>>526721587make an Apple II emulator core for RetroShart
>>526728825That would actually be pretty cool. You can do this via MAME as is but yuck...

>>526734098NTA, but red monochrome graphics aside, it's pretty neat. It was just released too early for what it was trying to do. It's cool that we finally have an emulator for it on the 3DS that actually makes the 3D work.
>>526730172*the MAME core, I mean. Standalone MAME is a perfectly viable and decent way to emulate Apple II.
>>526666101Literal ISHYGDDT here. If you're sick enough to use this god knows what other Buffalo Bill shit's happening in your life.
If you're wondering why the graphics in Mad Stalker - Full Metal Force are broken in duckstation and will always remain broken this is why. When second hand copies are $300 a pop it just doesn't make economic sense. Art of the deal baby. God bless the American dream of fucking everyone and everything to get what you want and keep it.
>>526750697Interesting theory, cigz, but doesn't it run in several others just fine? I think collectards were gonna pay this due to the rarity regardless of emu-status.
Maybe, *maybe* if you had a game broken in all emus (more than just an FMV bug or fast-menus and the like) that goes for a high price I could see the plausibility of such a scheme. I think this is more common with arcade games which go for thousands.
Hell, there are plenty of SNES games that run just fine that go for more. Other PS1 games that emulate just fine that go for more.
I'd sooner believe Matt's just a bad developer or contemptuous toward certain user issues than this. It seems like he's content with Ducko the way it is, and anything wrong he fixes extremely arbitrarily and leisurely.
Ah who am I kidding, if you stopped this schizo shit /emugen/ wouldn't be half as fun. Thanks for keeping this gen alive you crazy bastard.
>>526750817>but doesn't it run in several others just fine?It does. But those other emulators aren't run by a guy that sells retro games and has a direct financial interest.
>>526751408but isn't your market busted if your buyers can just load it in something else?
There are MAME drivers that have had issues for longer than some emugen posters have been alive. Those reek of this kind of racket more to me.
>>526751462Self interest greed is often idiotic and nonsensical and Matt is mentally unstable. It's a scheme that might make sense in his head.
>>526751564It doesn't reek, they literally admit it and told people to fuck themselves. David Haywood's friend Eric Cheung was selling Dodonpachi in some lazy dogshit rom collection and they removed support for it.
>>526673225Dwelling more on this, I think this is because a lot of their buddies may be in game dev (either as programmers or asset creation) or game journalism so it's all a big wagon-circle. I don't know what else would explain doing it for free for this industry's corpos.
I'm trying to be nice but there are only 3 scenarios and none of them look good.
1. It's broken on purpose because it goes for a lot on the second hand market and Mathew J Trump is flogging copies.
2. It's broken by accident. Matt is well aware of that fact so either A. He's throwing a diaper shitting tantrum and refusing to fix it or B. He's incapable of fixing it in which case he's less capable than the people that run fucking ePSXe.
Corruption, childishness or incompetence. It's like the US federal government equivalent of an emulator.
I got curious, so I went to check the archive on the first mentions of this Matt La France dude to see what evidence there is (since ciggy seems to only have "I remember Stenzek said this/told me this on trooncord years ago"), and what do you know, it's just info and pics of Matt with nothing but assertions about him being Stenzek and the Connor persona being a lie. The only "source" linked is some Reddit thread about Duckstation's closure, and there's nothing there about Stenzek being Matt. It's assertions and "trust me bro", followed by insane claims about pedophilia and grooming, all the way down. Ciggy, I know you've been told this a million times and I'll not make a difference, but you're fucking mental and I fear you're crazy enough to go actually murder this La France dude over your petty grievances.
>>526753348You checked the archive that's been down for months?
Over three years with this shit, too.
>>526754203I don't have the capability to doxx anyone. It was done by someone at retroarch after he broke up with them, posting that collage picture of him in Japan. The one where he's on the ride.
Best switch emu right now?
>>526754292What archive site are you using. I'll check.
>>526754314Even assuming that's true, there's no proof in those initial posts from 2022 that it's Stenzek, only assertions followed by wild repeated claims about pedophilia and other shit. And you just uncritically accepted that?
>>526754507arch.b4k.dev/vg/
>>526754762And what they posted lined up perfectly with what I knew personally. Ask them what their proof is. If it bothers you that much I wont' post it again.
Specifically with a retroarch contributor named Jean-André Santoni aka kivutar.
I don't know what the feud was over exactly. But this was the catalyst of the doxxing. His problem with this guy who connected him to the Matt's messy room blog and found old pictures of him in Japan.
Kivutar sold a handheld with duckstation installed and made a bunch of money?
>the whole thing was over Piepacker, a supposed "cloud gaming platform" which utilizes emulators, and Kivutar, a relatively low-key libretro contributor who mostly did work for Lakka, also contributing to Piepacker. It was also about Stenzek being a difficult fuck to work with - he only contributed a closed-source libretro port of Duckstation and kept throwing fits over random shit and thus kept ceasing work on said core whenever he felt like it, so to get around this, libretro just forked Duckstation themselves from source, resulting in Swanstation. Piepacker ended up using Swanstation for their platform, and THIS is what rectally devastated Stenzek. It's alleged that Piepacker actually offered Stenzek a job or some form of compensation or whatever, which he refused, and some figures came out about Piepacker making over a million bucks or some shit, and he went absolutely nuclear.
So that's where his outlandish claim about libretro making millions off of Duckstation comes from... because Piepacker made millions, and also happened to use the GPL-licensed, open-sourced Swanstation core (the GPL allows commercialization, by the way, so long as the source remains open), AND also happened to employ or have a libretro contributor on-board at the time (I believe Kivutar has since left Piepacker), so in his head, all that equaled ZOMG RETROARCH PROFITS MILLIONS OFF OF MY WORK. He also made claims about stolen code off of a private repo or some shit, which he never, ever backed up or substantiated and made no sense in any case (how does someone steal code off a private repo unless he gave them access, shared the code, or his account got hacked?), which is what the twatter and Resettera hordes latched onto a few months back.
And here we go again, all you have is "trust me bro, I know stuff". Sorry, but I cannot trust that all the details "line up perfectly" when you show no proof. It's like when people say Bible prophecies perfectly line up with current events or whatever: with enough motivated reasoning, you can convince yourself that two completely unrelated events are actually the same event as long as you keep the details vague enough. Like, you mentioned something about Stenzek supposedly having some interest in PC-FX, which if I understand correctly Matt happens to like a lot. Ok? Pretty eccentric of them, but it doesn't rise above the level of coincidence. We'd need a lot more than that kind of thing to make a solid connection.
>>526755640It was basically this
>>526756419. If kivutar was indeed the one who made the supposed "doxx" (again, I'd like to see proof), it at least makes sense since Stenzek was going bananas over stupid shit and implying kivutar had a hand in it. I don't know if kivutar is the type to doxx or whatever, but that's beside the point.
>>526756919Here's the original doxx post. At least the first time it was posted here. They're both mentally ill computer science teachers with an interest in PCFX, chronic pain, and addiction to prescription painkilliers and genshin impact.
Kivutar makes off like a bandit doesn't he. Millions of dollars and doxxes someone and I get blamed.
There's gold in them there archives.

>>526757305See, this is what I'm talking about. There's no proof that Matt was a teacher or professor. He WORKED at a college as a web programmer, per his own stated work history. The claim that he was a teacher is just that, with the source to the claim being some posts he made about web development for his college site and related musings. Nothing about teaching that I could find.
>chronic painMillions of people have this.
>addiction to prescription painkilliersNot sure if millions, but definitely hundreds of thousands suffer from this.
>an interest in PCFXThis is about the only thing that narrows them down to a relatively small group compared to the other categories, but all it says is they're both nerds about obscure shit no one cares about.
>>526758131I don't know why you care so much. I'm bored of this now I'm going back to emulating.
And I forgot Genshin Impact. Once again, millions of people play that shit and are addicted to it. Seriously, when the only hit you have that may mean anything is they both happen to like a shitty eroge machine, you know you're grasping. Do better.
>>526758732I care because you keep spamming posts about Matt this, Matt that, and I find out it's all based on flimsy unproven claims and apparent wishful thinking. Keep posting Duckstation issues, I don't give a crap about that, but I also don't much care for unfounded claims. There's plenty to dislike about Stenzek without needing to also tie him to some leftist goof who probably has nothing to do with anything.

Just get a prepatched for god's sake. You're probably doing it right so no need to prove anything to yourself. Probably just some wacky old hack that wants a certain patcher, the hacker's drunk and told you the wrong ROM, or an old emulator in the worst case.
Also it says it wants a headered ROM, was that taken into account? But I concur, just get a pre-patched one already. Jank-ass old patches like this aren't worth the headache.
I understand getting it to work being more important/fun than the game, though.

Why not spam the Matt thing in some sort of romhack/translation general? At least then you could shitpost about him without people calling you out on your shoddy Stenzek connection. I want a good laugh as much as anyone but I want the truth too.
This is seriously like that crazy bitch that would never shut up about Sam Hyde. You're that bitch.
Actually just finished the game now. It's a fun beat em all even if you can just spam hadokens and blow up everything

You said you had autism, so I'm sure you wouldn't disagree.
No one on earth is gonna be motivated to budge under the influence of some petty paratracker penned by someone infamously hateful toward them. You may actually be making things worse if fixing Duckstation is the goal.

Which, I'm glad to be. I'm easily entertained by downloading random crap and trying it and calling you a retard/schizo. It is pointless as you've said though, outside of that. Go to other devs or weasel into his inner circle, or learn to code. Autistic people are supposedly smart, right?
If you're not willing to exercise a little social muscle, learn to code, or buy a house for Richard Whitehouse, you're basically signing off on slop.
>>526857340but why would it be any better than emus either? It's probably just one of the big open source emus converted to an FPGA core, with maybe a few compat hacks on time. Most of the high end cores, as I understand it, cut a lot of corners to work full speed on the mister so I doubt any of them are as good as even ePSXe.

It feels so surreal being able to play Return of Arcade natively on Win11. The only game I can't seem to run natively from that collection is Ms. Pac-Man. (Which seems to be the only 32-bit executable, with the rest being 16-bit ones that OTVDM can handle just fine.)

>>526978130Would you actually say PCSX2's better than Duckstation?
Currently setting up retroarch cause I wanted to have a more convenient way to emulate. Before that I currently have as standalone emulators Citra, MelonDS, mGBA, Snes9x, and gens
Are any of these standalone emus better than their retroarch core counterparts or should I migrate entirely to retroarch? From basic testing it seems ones like gens/snes9x are inferior but there's a few more settings in melonds standalone that I take advantage of that aren't in the core version
>>526980279In terms of compatibility absolutely not. It's supports more peripherals, and has better people working on it and if you report something they're very quick to respond. It has lightgun support that actually aims correctly.
>Citra, MelonDS, mGBA, Snes9x, and gens
>Are any of these standalone emus better than their retroarch core counterparts?
Yes, yes (has the ability to display each DS screen to separate monitors and much better DSiware management), no (unless you want gyro for WarioWare and HD for games like F-Zero), no, no. Retroarch is generally a safe bet for up to 5th gen + DC and FBNeo arcade games. The X68K, PC98, C64, Amiga, and DOS cores are decent too.

>>526982401>>526980581LRPS2 is worth using in RA for ParallelGS (HD renderer with far fewer glitches than conventional HLE renderers), but LRPS2 doesn't have as many features and peripherals as standalone PCSX2. You want both.

>>526982643There's a wiki for questions like these.
https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/
>>526983298To be fair to him, I don't think they'll list the nuances of what the standalones and certain cores might miss/include.
Like you *can* play DSiware in the MelonDS core but you'll have a hell of a time getting it running. The standalone makes it fairly easy.
Also don't use the MAME core. If it doesn't work in FBNeo don't both and run it in Arcade64 instead. Plain MAME is worth getting if you're interested in strange home computer/early 80s console emulation, though.
>>526983947I don't know why I always hear bad things about the MAME core for RetroArch. I've never had any problems with it.
>>526984305It can work but I wouldn't put the two layers of configuration and UI on most people. Arcade64 will just be better experience for most.
Half my problem of MAME core is on principle. It doesn't work with half of RA's features which sucks for a software-driven core. It has its own internal GUI for controls etc instead of purely relying on Retroarch's. It's halfassed and awkward compared to most cores.
>>526984801*with the MAME core
>>526975426That's how far I got, too.
Ms. Pac-Man (sorta) works! For some reason, you have to launch it through "console.exe" You could probably get away with using Shaderglass as a workaround for not having fullscreen enabled.
>>526970642Ah, I really need to add that to my pack! It was how I first played those games. I sank hours into Joust, Robotron, and Sinistar. I played a good bit of Bubbles, too. I sucked at Defender, though.
>>526989601lol you're right, it doesn't require any compat flags or wrappers or anything either.
>>526989948How did you manage to output sharp looking pixels? I've set the mode to clone and selected Ms. Pac-Man as the window, but it doesn't seem to scale well with sharp-shimmerless on my machine.
>>526989601Who *didn't* suck at Defender? All Jarvis did was make carnie games.
I was reorganizing my files and moved the updates+dlc folder I used for ryujinx and now all my games don't have the updates/DLC applied, going through each game and adding it manually is a pain since I keep clicking a DLC file when wanting to add an update and vice versa which throws up an error.
Is there any way to just add the folder in bulk and have it auto-apply to each game?
>>526990385It's all about the input scaling and source. Importantly, your source window should be as close to 1x as possible. You do not want to stretch the source window in any way, nor do you want to use the game's full screen which will arbitrarily stretch it. Garbage in, garbage out. Without DPI scaling, the default size of the Ms Pac Man window is integer scaled 2x, so I set Shaderglass to 2x input. If you disable DPI scaling in console.exe's properties, it should be 1x. I used a scaline shader, so I also set the shader to vertical orientation.
*Without disabling DPI scaling, it's 2x rather
After you get the input stuff right, you should be able to get a crisp full screen image through ShaderGlass's fullscreen (Ctrl-Shift-G by default)
>>526991275>>526991420>>526991525Awesome, it works properly! Going into Properties > Compatibility > Change High DPI Settings > Enabling "Override high DPI scaling behavior" with scaling performed by "Application" helped out significantly.
It's a stupid way to do it but if you rename mappy.exe or any of the Revenge arcade games to mspacman.exe in place of the original, the console launcher will play those. I can't get the Revenge launcher or any of the standalone exes to work at all natively.
>>526992978Ah, nevermind, if you just install it like a human being it works fine. I was trying to load it off from the files off the disc. I see how they work through the shortcuts now. The installer is soulful anyway.
>>526989601>>526991275>>526991761>>526992978>>526993648Can any of this be automated or be put in a pack for others to use without having to do all this fiddling just to play?
>>526993756Not from what I can tell, no. Even installing the game requires OTVDM at the very least, since a majority of games on the collection are 16-bit executables.
>>526993982I see. That's unfortunate. So basically it's either fiddle with all this so these games play natively, or download a pack that uses PCem or forks that has them already installed.
This is physically impossible in PCSX2. You need to mash the triggers and it's just not registering the inputs fast enough.

"Works on my machine" is a completely moot point when it comes to PCSX2. It's unbelievably bad.

Dig Dug and Galaxian show they are sims by having bullets and other sprites move at 60/30fps when they ran at different rates in the original. Mappy and such go through the expected bootup processes making them more believable as emulation. MAME was kicking around by this time and I'd bet they stole/licensed from it or some other open source emu.

>>527082130Yeah something else to keep in mind is a lot of those old 4:3 monitors report a highest resolution of 1280x1024 which is actually 5:4. You'll probably want to set 1024x768 or another proper 4:3 resolution so 2D elements scale properly on it.
>>527083030>1024x768 or another proper 4:3 resolutionI do, which is why I'm confused. You can see that that screenshot I took of soa is larger than what the os reports the monitor is set at as well. Its a crt so that probably has something to do with it but I never quite know what resolution its actually displaying. If i set it to 480p some games report it as 600p so idk.
>>527082130Fun fact: almost none of the old consoles and computers that were designed for 4:3 tubes used 4:3 internal resolutions. NES, SNES, PCE, etc run skinnier, Genesis and Saturn ran wider, even DOS commonly used 320x200 or 640x400, and 720x400 for text. It wasn't til Windows 3 that square pixels were the norm on PC. CRTs didn't have "native resolutions" in the conventional sense, though, and these machines accounted for that, overscan and the ability to adjust the width/height of the image at will without making the pixels a mixed up mess. It was a weird time. It must have blown to plan out pixel art on a grid on those stupid things.
>>527083504>>527082130This could be because your video driver is scaling the image using GPU. When this happens your driver takes what it believes to be your native (usually highest) resolution and scales a lower resolution to it. So you could have 1024x768 set, but your driver is actually scaling it up to a higher resolution. Dunno if you're using AMD but here's the GPU/display scaling settings on Nvidia. Also check this screen in Windows to see if your desktop and active signal resolution differ. The active signal resolution is the resolution your machine's actually using, not just scaling to. Also you may want to use Dolphin's stretch mode instead of 4:3 to force it use all of your monitor's space, which should be fine as it's 4:3 anyway.
>>527085052Hmm. I'll look into it. Thanks.
>>527066669Looks like this wiki entry confirms it.

>Whereas the previous Microsoft Arcade compilations used recreations of the games, all of the included games in Revenge of Arcade are properly emulated ports of Namco's arcade titles. These game ports are seemingly repurposed from the Namco History series, a line of PC games published by Namco in Japan; the Ms. Pac-Man port is sourced from Namco History Vol. 3. The ports themselves are very accurate to the arcade originals in performance, though all of the games have their audio pitched an octave lower.
