That's fair. It does bring up the question of why deal with her now when others on that list are likely in higher positions of power. It's definitely valid for him to wonder about. Given he does take pride in dealing with high-ranking people, which would involve dealing far more security on the way, there must be something about her that is just more dangerous at that time to require dealing with her now.

Concerns about the future of Text-Gen
Question: Text Generation
I need to get something off my chest about NovelAI's text-gen future and the concerning patterns I'm seeing.
When Erato launched, it became clear to many users that it under-performed compared to Kayra in key areas - particularly prose quality, despite having better scene awareness. The community quickly noticed that ATTG and presets felt less impactful, leading to the widespread "garbage in, garbage out" sentiment to excuse this. Even respected preset creators seemed to indirectly suggest the model had fundamental issues (which seemed mostly Llama-3 related).
What bothers me isn't just that Erato was subpar - models can have problems, that's development. What's concerning is the ongoing response from the lead developer. Despite months of consistent user feedback about performance issues, there's still this underlying sentiment that Erato is performing well and that user struggles stem from "insufficiency" on their end.
But here's what really gets me: I recently learned that some of the content sharing involves pre-writing scenarios using Claude 4, which requires an additional premium subscription. So users are paying $25/month for an under-performing model, then potentially another $20 for decent starting content? Even if this is optional, it raises questions about the development philosophy.
I'll be direct - I don't trust the current direction. When you combine non-responses to legitimate criticism with what appears to be monetized workarounds for your own model's weaknesses, it doesn't inspire confidence in future releases.
Am I missing something here? Has anyone else noticed these patterns, or am I being too harsh? The image side of things is amazing, and I'm excited for its future.
I'd very much like to feel the same for text-gen.
>>526776628>the thread is already locked lol

How can I actually wrangle Erato into writing something fairly descriptive and witty? Iโm not expecting Shakespeare but not matter what I do the output is always incredibly basic. Shit like โshe took off her shirt. She sighed. She quietly said, โokay, Iโm ready to get rawdoggedโ.
>>526766217Genuinely thought every anon collectively agreed to stop baking for this general and leave it to rot after checking back after a few hours and seeing nothing.

>>526763028>Specific targets, yes, but that's why 100 seems like such a large number of people that are necessary for ensuring this doesn't happen.Oh, the 100 isn't the "necessary" number, the whole idea is that they don't know. The idea is that the dossier is what Yutaka could get together with the limited resources he had in the future, and since he doesn't know whether it'll work or not, he'd rather overshoot than undershoot. (Also the 100 is just because the scenario is very Hundred Line-coded).
>Not as pervasive, sure, but I'm sure someone else in their hallway would happily turn in a tip of something odd for a bit more money. It is some amount of risk.True. Perhaps he's got some sort of plan for that later after the inevitable gay sex and a change of clothes.
>That's fair. It does bring up the question of why deal with her now when others on that list are likely in higher positions of power.I think it's more of an opportunity thing where she was someone he saw a good scenario for, or she's one of the more notable names on the list on a celebrity level despite being only a rising star and he figured getting more notable names out of the way early before paranoia about the Ripper reaches its peak was a good idea. Or it's throwing the police off by killing, say, a few corpo types first and then shifting gears to take out an idol. The corkboard he's got going in one of his hideouts must be quite complex.

Honestly I'm not sure how one should do authentic rabbit legs for an anthro. >>526952727I tried messing around with the fur dataset, and this is the closest I got to a "true" rabbits foot I guess. It doesn't help that there doesn't seem to be any tags for this

>>526955792>picYeah I was looking at Judy Hopps for comparison. Zootopia's maybe more on the animal side than what I'm going for, but they made the feet work well for her. My concern is that on a more humanlike design it'd look like clown shoes

>>527071568Vibes + JCM2's tag might end up being the best bet once it comes out for nailing his(?) style overall. Especially since anime mode in v4 already does tend to sway towards some familiar artist styles on its own if vibes are used - especially with quality tags. I've seen JCM2 crop up a bit on its own. >>527076851It is not irrelevant to this discussion. If you were a normal person, you'd understand that vibes aren't better than artist tags. They have different use cases. You're the troll who thinks people who like artist tags are inferior to you and your rich, smug bastard ass. Why do you continue to dodge the fundamental distinction we have presented? I do not want to spend my Anlas and waste hours of my time finetuning the model to give me something "great', when I could instead not waste Anlas and get something decent enough. Accept that, do not respond to me again, and, going forward, do not phrase your love for vibes as hatred for artist tags.

>>527077786I'm sorry you feel that way.
>>527077501it's not disagreeing so much as constantly levying insults unprompted at others expressing opinions

Is this really what discourse has devolved into?
>>527078548>negative emphasisHow have you been finding its use so far? I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds interesting. Haven't touched 4.5 much yet.
>>527079009Why diss how something you don't fucking use works on a model you haven't "touched much yet"?
Didn't he *just* argue against treating everyone who disagrees as the same person?
For the record, negative tags are very useful. Now, watch as #527079009 decides to arbitrarily decide they're not useful, all because I dared to provide positive input to yet another thing he won't use, and then act like his input on it for 5 is the next best thing since toasted bread.
>>527079510He also says people should be allowed to voice negative sentiments towards vibes, but boy, the moment you say anything negative about artist tags you're a troll.
It doesn't matter. None of it matters. It's just autistic gibberish and responding to it will never achieve anything, the goalpoasts will forever shift as he throws a shitfit and demands apology forms signed in triplicate that he was always correct and right about everything and you're just a paid troll for INSERT RANDOM THING HERE.
>>527079009I really like fiddling with them, it reacts differently than the same tag in the UC so you can stack them if needed and they give you more control
>>527079510He is the same person as
>>527070640. The person whom this entire discussion started from in the first place. The tag names make that much obvious.
>>527079835What goalposts? My ire is directed toward a single person, nobody else is getting caught in the crossfire. I already acknowledged that they have different use cases. He's the one pretending like vibes are a replacement for artist tags.
>>527080273Following this chain, you responded with "People like you are profoundly retarded.", then "Further evidence you're retarded.", then "Nice outing yourself as a retard.", all while not caring to even quote posts accurately.
It seems like you were the one who deviated from the discourse, if anything.
For the record, back when they didn't cost Anlas, which for anyone paying attention, as I have stated multiple times now, is the crux of the problem I have with them, I did enjoy how they worked on some gens. When combined with artist tags, too, they were neat. But now that they cost Anlas, I don't have much of a will to use them. Why do you people ignore that? Why act like that's not a valid concern?
>>527080612>something decides to bring up something unrelated to the convo>I have to treat it with validity>meanwhile, nothing I present deserves equal treatmentDouble standards, much? Here you go then. Allow me to sign an apology letter. Ink or pencil?
And negative emphasis can introduce different styles, which is also fun to mess with
>>527080798The cost is not a valid concern. The new tech for vibes requires NAI to train a mini-module for them and expecting that for free is completely unreasonable.
>>527080820This addition (from the sounds of it), the image2image inpainting strength addition and the emphasis :: additions have all been really nice QOL.
And style discovery is my major fetish, sounds fun.
>>527080798He clearly brought up vibes as a disclaimer for his opinion on the effects of the JCM2 artist tag
>I noticed JCM2 really likes to generates the red/pink eyeliner thing in v4, its odd.>I'm a vibe whore though, I don't really use artist names at all any more.As in, since he uses vibes, he doesn't use the JCM2 tag, an artist tag, enough to know if the behavior he noticed was due to bad luck or actually representative of the tags effects.
You're pretending half the post doesn't exist. You can't be surprised when hurling insults makes others think less of you.
>>527081084Yes the fuck it is a valid concern. Making it cost anlas inhibits in depth testing by placing it behind a money barrier, that did not previously exist. If it didn't cost money, I wouldn't be upset about it in the first place.
>>527081432That he didn't have anything productive to add to the conversation, yet decided to add his two cents in anyway, doesn't concern you? Still waiting on that apology from him where he called me a troll, by the way. It's not that much of an adk. Acknowledge I have an equal right to enjoy the features I prefer, and dislike the features I don't enjoy, and we can agree to disagree. Hopefully when vibes arrive for 4.5 they solve the cost. Or, since he likes them so much, he can make a repository of them for the thread, that way they don't have to spend Anlas. That would also be acceptable. Instead of the weird trick he's trying to do by getting people to spend their Anlas, when those are better used for making larger images. He *used* to do that. Weird how he quit doing that.
https://files.catbox.moe/v9isow.jpg
Do I have to sign that in triplicate? Maybe get a notary to verify it? How about a reference or five?
>>527079009I've been reactive and smalltime with it so far, I feel that there's probably some pretty creative uses for it, especially with emphasis like 10:: :: or -10:: :: being possible
It can help make a character not glow like the sun in a dark setting, most memorable use case I've had so far. Still susceptible to contradictory prompt/tag issues, but it feels nice being able to better prevent characters from outright glowing in the dark.
Makes cosplay a hell of a lot easier too, removing hats, changing shoes, locking away hair colours, removing garter straps, removing horns, removing animal hands in favor of human hands, removing chairs, etc.
essentially, it feels like another, stronger layer of UC.
Why do both V4 and V4.5 look so pencil-art-ish and 'scratchy', for lack of a better word? Illustrious gens look way smoother and just overall better.
>>527083545Landmine thighsโฆ
>>527083545I knew I forgot something, thanks for reminding me of that

And yet you wonder why I get upset when you fuckers decide my input doesn't matter. I did what you asked of me.
>>527083708the 3 gens itt with comfyui in the name all look nice and smooth, in a way v4+ can't do. Maybe it's not illustrious but something else, but they look better, I'm sorry
>>527084426The claims you make are easily disproved. I doubt you'll acknowledge that, or present any evidence to back up your claims. Instead, you'll ignore it, and repeat this same claim next thread. Like you've done for the past several months. Even the actual person posting those gens acknowledges that NAI is better than it. Do you dispute him?
>>527081432I've not engaged in this whole thing - I appreciate your post (and you), but you don't need to hassle yourself.
>>527083524>especially with emphasis like 10:: :: or -10:: :: being possibleSo v4.5 can REALLY go nuts with that eh? 2:: alone seems to start goo-ifying things in v4.
>>527084635I signed an apology form. Like you requested I do. Why treat me like I don't exist?
>>527081432Notice how he acts like a Karen despite me doing exactly what he requested? What, is the apology not legible enough for him?
>>5270846354.5 has a much wider emphasis range, yeah
>>527085137I accept your apology. Now let's agree to disagree.
>>527084629you can't disprove taste. Maybe an artist tag mix can fix it, idk, but default artist tagless style looks very scratchy for v4/5, not nice and smooth. I don't like it. They look like sketches that haven't had the last piece of work done on them or something
>>527085332I'm not going to engage with any further. Fix your eyes.
>>527085453That he thinks the images vibebro posted are sketches kinda makes it obvious he doesn't want to engage in good faith.
>>527084635it really can
just a shame full doesn't have its own dedicated inpainting yet, and for some baffling reason they saw fit to temporarily make it use 4's inpaint when 4 becomes a garbled mess if any of the emphasis values exceed 2::
easy enough to swap over to 4.5curated and use its inpainting at least, it can handle the more extreme emphasis values, but still feels silly
>>5270857934.5 doesn't have its own inpaiting either. Both use V4's.

>>527128728Usually the generic human-but-quirky way I guess.
My latest story has 3 types of nonhumans, all the results of very illegal magic. Relations between humans and nonhuman sapients is bad.
First kind are uplifted animals with human-like intelligence but animal bodies. Reliant on magic and tech to make up for lack of thumbs, and very different morality. One of the major supporting characters is a morally reprehensible cat who keeps stables of rape-pits to pump out soldiers.
Second kind were originally humans, transformed to gain aspects from the animals they were mixed with. They tend to view themselves as freaks and carry huge amounts of resentment against humans.
Third type are summoned from outside Earth, the most difficult to write for since they're meant to be totally alien in behaviour.
The first kind, I try to lean heavily into the animal traits, and try to avoid obvious human ones (eg the way they raise young or the population density.) Second group are more generic furry, mostly human but with stereotypical traits blended in (eg wolf-folk are loyal to their kindred). Third group I just go hog-wild with alien and fay types of things (the less scruitable the better.)

Can someone please tell me why my imagegen is shit? I was reasonably proud of it at the time, but I'm feeling some problems I can't quite pinpoint. Aside from the saturation maybe being too high, I think maybe too much bloom snuck in while I was enhancing. This is aside from the usual wonky details common in AI gen, like the weird skin indentations and the unnecessary cloth folds on the collar. Those are definitely my bad.

Chat GPT says my idea for a military themed reality show where a force composed of instagram models, streamers, influencers, and idols trained by the IDF, battle (with real weapons) a force recruited from prisons and mental institutions and given alcohol and drugs, but little real food and little or no training would be exploitative and evil. Then I make the comment that personally I would watch that show as long as the models were hot, and suddenly it agrees that the show is an interesting idea and might be popular. To be clear, the scenarios I was laying out would most likely result in the sexy women team slaughtering criminals and crazy people. So not much to entertain those hoping the thots would be raped and murdered, though I imagine there'd be at least a few instances of that sort of thing happening.

NovelAI. I'm at the stage where I should probably stuff what I've got so far into a lorebook entry, but I can't be bothered.

>>527435051I don't know how to do that. I blundered into the story I've ended up with without bothering with a lorebook, author's note, memory, any of that, just plain Opus-tier context. So I'm probably going to spend an afternoon copy-pasting and rewriting stuff into a more organised lorebook format for characters and so on.
When I am outside, like driving or walking or sitting in a cafeteria, I often get inspiration and feel like continuing writing my story. So I come up with some scenarios and think I will do it once I'm home, since I'm on the move right now.
But then I go home and don't really feel like doing that.
How to fix that?

Life gets complicated

Has anyone bothered to test the more niche medium tags? From the 'cord here are some results; I haven't verified anything myself tho:
Marker: works great
Ink, ballpoint pen: Quality is spotty. Sometimes great. Specifying a color in the medium tag doesn't seem to work but specifying a theme and adding monochrome is fine
Pencil: doesn't seem to work often, also lowers image quality for some reason.
Color pencil: Gives out what I expected for pencil.
Chalk, Color chalk: doesn't have an effect on the medium as far as I can tell
Oil: strong effect. Not sure what it's doing though.
Clay: doesn't make clay
Card: Works great.
Photo: sometimes it does cute stuff like making a photo of a drawing
Pen: This is what I wanted out of ink and ballpoint pen.
Unreal: ineffective.
Blender: Much better at 3D-looking images, still not perfect.
Aseprite: instant pixel art. Works great.
Rebelle: Doesn't replicate the rebelle style.
Acrylic paint, Acrylic Gouache: I think it's working well? I'm not intimately aware of what acrylic looks like
Poster: Replicated the poster style well. Similar to card but I think I like it better.
>>527481936>>527481080Deepseek barely uses any VRAM for the extra context because of the MLA special sauce

Question, when I'm starting a prompt for Novel AI, what's a rough mark of how many paragraphs I should give it?

like yeah textgen is amazing and stuff but I think people expected it to eventually get there, imagegen going from a funny fever dream to putting out things good enough to masturbate to in under 3 years is something I don't think anyone foresaw. As early back as Detroit: Become Human for example, the robot making a painting was some big dramatic eye-opening 'this thing is human' reveal moment, these days it wouldn't be as surprise at all that a robot can make a painting.
