For example, I came up with the idea of a Mesoamerican pyramid to house my moss farm in because it would fit really well with the jungle I built my farm in

Well its not a modpack you wanna play twice. Even playing it once was a chore to do. I played GTNH during covid. Started late 2019 until early 2021 and kinda "finished" it. Burned out at the stargates. I had like 1/3 of resources to build my first stargate but all other mats would require me to afk for some insane hours and i wasnt gonna do that.

It was grindy but fun at the same time. I liked working towards stuff in the early game un to late high voltage, but it got stupider the further i progressed. Kinda a 4.5/10 for me. Really needs an endgame rework.

Exploration sucks.
A lot of my time spent building has just been making roads/tunnels/tracks/paths to distant resources that are sometimes useful for somethings. I'm not actually working on my village; I'm just off securing some resource that is tangentially useful.

Exploration sucks because there's nothing to find. No ancient ruins, no rare terrain formations, no extra challenges or special loot. You only explore to find enough materials to set up a farm (whether manual or automated) back home. A few spruce saplings? Check. A single bamboo? Check. Some moss? Check. That's it. Even if you're after ancient cities or trial chambers, the fact that you can't just find one and then repeat it until you have what you need, but have to keep finding more, only serves to make everything feel so repetitive. Finding an ancient city isn't cool, because they're all over the fucking place, and you probably need to raid 10 of them to get the unique armor trims anyway. It's like how even the best roguelike inevitably turns stale after you've seen the same rooms and corridors a hundred times, and there's nothing left to surprise you. I'd rather have trial chambers be way more rare, but infinitely repeatable, because at least then I'd have a reason to build a road to it if I find it, as I might actually want to go back there again in the future

I actually vastly prefer the way Chase the Skies was set up as opposed to the pale garden because the happy ghast is actually tremendously useful for survival building and it gave them an excuse to add extra and better functionality to leads. If they keep up the add thing + thing works well with new functionality to already existing thing (+ some other smaller stuff), then I wouldn’t mind 2 or 3 years of drops instead of updates.
