The Alecto's HE charge has less explosive mass than the German 75, so no. It is a massive shell that sends out a fuckload of fragments for killing infantry.

I played those gooks. I still won though, was on defense and had an aggressive team constantly building rallies despite them getting hit with HVARs every 4 seconds no matter where they were built. One of them tried to zero in on me at the end of the match and caught a Luftfaust.
This was pre-jet though so they were cycling P-47s, Corsairs, and that BR5 premium fighter with the 500lb bombs.

a couple matches with the alecto and it is very unimpressive. shells of either variety often do absolutely nothing

The HE shell is basically the same as the one on the German Short 75 but with more fragments. It's slightly worse in basically every other way, I think? Extremely underwhelming, but that's kinda realistic because it has a relatively small HE charge for such a large shell, but also has a massive shell that can spray heaps of garbage everywhere.

The German 15cm has even MORE fragmentation (like 2x as much) and can penetrate 60mm of armour with its HE blast, and also has a 46 meter fragment radius. It's stronger than the 152mm on the KV-2.

the HEAT is also really underwhelming and doesnt seem to set off ammo any better than shot. basically everything one taps you which means you need to kill on the first hit or you die. very frustrating and right now it is suffering from the server wide aggro that new vehicles have where everyone wants to kill it

AT is slightly more practical. You don't actually see a lot of planes in BR1, it's fun to use against plane spam though. I know once I was trying to let my friend farm the enemy so I hopped in the Soviet milk truck and ended up getting 1st anyway because they kept spamming planes.

It depends on the server. On the NA server, Soviets are pretty braindead at BR V but very competitive at BR III. Germans are very competitive at BR V and somewhat competitive at BR III. Americans are terrible at all BRs.

I wish they would give us the extended mag AVT or nerf the AVS damage. Not because I want to use the Soviets, but because I really don't want to buy a bunch of AVS (again) to be more meta only for it to get shifted again.

Now that they buffed the RoF is the FG42 I worth using or is the II still better over all?

If you have it, the event para squad is very good now. They buffed the ammo capacity in the patch beforehand, then it got the new FG-42 higher RoF, and it still has less recoil than the FG-42 II. That's what I use to get my early pattern FG-42 fix.
Maybe I'll give my APC squad the base FG-42 as well. I like giving my bots the highest RoF ghetto blaster possible for drive-bys.

Body armour makes little difference at top tier now because the FG 42 was buffed. It used to make it so that, at point blank, the 14.4 damage of the FG wasn't enough to kill you in one hit when combined with Vitality. I can post the webm when I get home. It's mostly just for abusing newfags at low tier now since it really fucks over 9mm SMGs at point blank by requiring them to land an extra shot on your chest.

At top tier you won't notice it anymore because you will mostly be dying to explosions, or FGs and StGs that are basically unaffected by it.

I just had a match where I must have mined a total of 10+ rallies, and it only made ONE enemy ragequit. I should have counted my total mine kills before leaving the score screen but it was absolutely batshit and probably the only reason we won. What's weird is the enemy team also had multiple guys who crouch spammed. You know, they repeatedly mashed the crouch button to rapidly move their hitboxes up and down? It doesn't work but it's strange to see 2-3 guys in one team doing it.

I also had some guy on my team complaining about being uptiered to BR V as a BR II, when it was a BR II-III match. His reasoning was that the enemy team had MG 34s. Boy is he in for a rude awakening when he realises how much worse BR V is than some MG 34s.

The toughest tank you can face, the Churchill is unenterable outside of weakspots and the weakspots become unenterable when angled.
The Sherman can't angle to be unenterable as reaching 120mm effective on the front makes the hull penetrable on the sides.
The Zooka on the can at most face a StuG. Which remains weakspot penetrable, as to reach enough angle to negate the weakspot also makes it show too much side.
The Grb on the other hand can face the KV-1 which can hide the weakspots and become unpenetrable.

The extra pen is not as useful as you may think. It's only really useful when equipping BR3 line ups as the extra pen would work against the Jumbo. But at BR2 it's meaningless and you are measuring epens.

There's nothing wrong with it, I used it pretty extensively in Normandy which only had the sniper version of the second pattern. But the second pattern is still better overall. I might give my APC squad the first pattern just for more dakka for the drive-bys.
Ideally, if you have the old event paratrooper squad, that is very good now. They increased the ammo capacity, it has the new rate of fire, and it still has lower recoil than the second pattern, so it's the best of both worlds.
