Some 'boosters' in Strath were absolutely awful, they'd round up enemies & wipe 3 times over, blame lag then not give full refund. Others got mega greedy huge gold already being paid, and create immense downtime by looting every mob they killed. Absolutely awful

The Scarlet Monastery ones were nice tho, they'd usually kill a Herod or Whitemane if you asked nicely.
But yeah, it was definitely lame the way people could cheese & bypass the entire leveling experience. People say the same thing will happen in Outland dungeons, but 60-70 is laughably easy I wouldn't pay thousands of gold to skip it.

If you're playing shaman in TBC just play shaman in vanilla. You'd be rolling on the correct faction anyway. The nice thing about anni going to TBC is that you get 2-4 weeks of a prepatch where shaman DPS specs become god tier and everyone wants them. I'll genuinely never understand how someone can believe the horde leveling experience is inferior. Everything from run distance to fight paths to dungeons is easier. You can get to the barrens at like 15 and stay until 30. You genuinely don't even need to leave the continent. Even IF you decide to do the hillsbrad/arathi two step, the under city is literally right fucking there. You can set your hearth to brill and have a 20 second walk to the zeppelin. Alliance is inferior in every way except soul. Elwynn/Westfall are amazing but neither of them will get you high enough for duskwood, or STV and have fun trying to quest in redridge.

Does it make more sense as a priest tailor to go into shadowweaving instead of mooncloth? I think I will primarily be healing but having a shadow set would make for a nice change of pace. I heard the mooncloth armor isn't as good for a priest healer as shadow armor is for a shadow priest, as well as shadow armor lasting in phase 2 while the mooncloth can get replaced more easily.

It's mainly just boosts from what I saw, very few people are out in the open world leveling this late into the game. Do yourself a favor and just play during the pre-patch. There's absolutely nothing to be gained right now when you can do everything you want during the prepatch when everyone else is leveling their draenei.
LW on your shaman, unless they change drums then it doesn't matter. You can even pick up skinning since you'll have dual spec and can reliably farm mats to make nethercobra leg enchants. There's no real "mandatory" profession outside of drums as of right now. You typically will have 5 LWs per raid and that's usually relegated to the shaman regardless of spec.
There's no double flask duration in TBC, you only get a shitty trinket that increases mana and HP from potions.

As a casual thing to do yes and they give decent charms I think. There is the celestial tournament in 5.4 and pet battles against random critters are a great way to level alts if you have the pets for it. PVP is super autistic because pets have breeds that the game doesnt tell you about (2 identical pets can have different stats)and there are metas and so on. if you want to pet battle retoilet is better due to more pets and more content and more people to play against

The whole Wotlk into Retail game concept was pioneered by TBC, I.e the whole game revolves around AFKing in <major city> or on top of your flying mount while automatically queuing for various forms of content, it's literally the exact same shit the same in TBC all the way into retail. Personally I did play TBC back in 2007 and I am myself nostalgic and will probably play it, but nostalgia just isn't a good enough reason to sink thousands of hours into a video game and that's why I know it will be dead on arrival if they don't let you copy your vanilla characters free of charge rather than make them TBC only without a fee like they did in 2019 classic.
