The US market is full of stuff like this. Americans are consumeristic idiots that wouldn't be able to buy the better product even if you told them. There are examples in every single market, like most of handgun sales being glocks when nowadays a SW MP2.0 or a gen 1 APX are unironically and statistically better handgun for the price (glock only has the brand name and aftermarket).
Cars, no need to mention anything other than F150, phones, ERRYBODY must have an IPHONE even tough even a cheap android beats it in every single metric, even cameras.

what's the CD
Anonymous No.527152153
>>527151563
It's an upgrade to the MB-339CB (update of the C version for New Zealand) that gives it a better engine, HUD, UFC, 3 MFDs, Aerial refueling capabilities, etc. I think it also has the integration of some A/A missiles like the aim-9 and some A/G stull like the AGM-65.
Anonymous No.527152642 >>527159840
I understand why they did the A/PAN but I still think that if IFE had made the CD version for DCS it would've sold a lot more.
Also I still think that DCS needs to create a "pilot school" focused on a single trainer with really in depth missions that cover a realistic student syllabus instead of just briefly showing you how to land a plane etc like it's currently done. Showing how to hold patterns, how to enter them, what speeds etc. I get not caring for doing cold starts, but if you're playing a simulator in multiplayer and 99 servers out of 100 has people just randomly landing wherever they want how they want (or just ditching the plane since it's quicker than landing and rearming) it seriously breaks the immersion.

Anonymous No.527161375 >>527162886

IIRC there is no limit as long as you have fuel just like the MB-339. Unlike the Viper engine of the 339 (wet sump) the 346 has a pressurized dry sump for recirculation) and each separate wing fuel cell in the 346 has its own fuel pump and emergency one so you should never have issues.

Speaking of negative-g fuel starvation, I always do my ground attack runs in the Mirage F1 by rolling inverted, pulling to whatever negative pitch I'm supposed to be in then roll back, do my attack and then pull up.

Anonymous No.527197336

And Air/Naval Operations (which is shit easy to pirate (which is why I've played it and not CMO)).

The simulation is kind of abstracted, but also pretty thorough if that makes sense. Weapon hits are probability based, not physically simulated. But the probabilities make sense. Stuff like that.

There's an online database viewer that lists everything in the game if you find that sort of thing interesting. It seems to be missing a few stats compared to the in-game DB viewer though.

Even the T-90M's that they're so proud of, that UVZ probably makes less than 100 a year of, are apparently built on old Soviet T-72B hulls pulled from storage.

Also it is believed the one reason that the ziggers could suddenly show like a dozen Armatas in 2014, but no more since then, is that even there they were built on pre-production hulls of some forgotten Soviet prototype. Pic related, one of the Object 299 test hulls that were rebuilt into Armatas.

As for the restarted Tu-160 production, they managed to make maybe four.

It's fucking lovely. Complete pilot's aircraft. Light controls that are very nicely balanced, stacks of power even though the engines are derated, super reliable engines though we used to get quite a lot of snags on the avionics. Trailing link undercarriage, every landing is soft, I would say it's impossible to bounce but a co-worker managed to bounce one because he was somehow retarded enough to land on the nose wheel. Good amount of room in the wing and nose lockers, if you need it to do utility stuff it will swallow a fuck tonne of stuff through the doors - they're double barn doors instead of the OEM Cessna clamshell ones, you can fit a whole pallet between them. About the only retarded thing the French did is for some reason close the rear door over the front door so if something happens to cause it to come ajar in flight the airflow can catch it but that's very very rare.

It's fast for its class, when it's light it climbs like a scalded rat up a drainpipe. Quiet inside. Comfortablish for its age and type. I miss it terribly.

Muh country operated the 9.12, it has a near legendary status here, so I think I will. I would have been happier for a full clicky Su-27, since it's long overdue, I've been playing this shitpile of a game since Su-27 Flanker for DOS.

Also I'm predicting it's going to be like 98% complete on release, since the 9.12 is so fucking barebones that if they leave out anything it reverts to being an FC3 toy again.

I think it's normal to favor your home team. In our defence the show there is in a reduced formation due to the mid air collision from a few weeks ago. It's kinda sad that in a short while all of these teams won't perform with their current jets. The frecce will go on the M-346 (FBW so they'll degrade to performances closer to Blue angels and thunderbirds) , the Arrows are also on their last leg airframe wise and they don't have yet a replacement, the french as well (might go on the PC21, the Patrulla is going with the PC21 (the show in the video is the farewell to the C-101) and I don't know about the swiss, I think they still have a few years in them. The golden era of aerobatics is over.

It's the best "I have no idea what I'm doing" purchase, and the most likely to give you a good experience the first time, but it's absolutely not the best "spend as little as possible to try this shit out" option.
If you're pretty sure VR is for you, or are otherwise capable of interacting with humans enough to resell things, buy a Quest. If you're cheap, poor, or on the fence, buy a used $50-$150 last-gen headset to get your feet wet.

AFAIK hearing from someone who went to Avord (for RAMI) they have basically already retired the alphajet for everything beside the PAF. They are currently using the PC-21 even for advanced training (the guy said it was sorely lacking) so it's most likely the replacement for the PAF as well even if I find strange that the frogs prideful as they are would settle for a turboprop to represent them since it would make airshows abroad more challenging and less prestigious.
If they had a trainer in the works I think they would've presented it to the public years ago at the Paris Air Show but if they somehow preferred to hide it I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up looking like the M-346 as the french have had access to the M-346 since 2013 due to Singapore keeping them at the Cazaux Air Base where the SAF has a detachment. And some French pilots have been training on the M-346 in Sardinia for their representation.
Aeralis (UK startup to replace the Hawk) has a little article where they say they proposed to the french to join development to create a joint trainer, so they could also go that way.

That's kind of how war used to be everyone would be standing in a line and shoot on command and it would be really formal like an event, but then during the revolution the Americans said "fuck this shit this is war" and started doing whatever the fuck they wanted to win and the British accused them of foul play.
Warfare today is no longer fighting to the death with guns and tanks but rather taking control of the political, economic and social aspects of a country and have their own population destroy the country from within by brainwashing them into voting for a parties that are secretly in alliance with the enemy.

I know this is bait, but the Americans did in fact use line formation in the revolution. There were very practical reasons that they did that. Also, all modern (for the time) nations used skirmishers and sharpshooters.

Flew 2 practice flights with the citation x today and I'm kinda getting the hang of the FMS now. It's very different to the king air c90b which has the Garmin G530 in x-plane. I guess the FMS is better because it calculates all sorts of neat stuff like V-speeds, fuels and so on, but this is definitely a big step up from a "GA"-kinda plane. I'm messing up things all the time, like last time I was doing an approach I didn't notice ATC gave me a STAR until it was almost too late so I entered the STAR altitude and course very very late, definitely way more variables to track while flying it compared to the king air. Very fun learning this though, I must admit.

Last flight, as one can see everything went fine until the moment I realized I followed the right STAR but chose a wrong approach procedure from the FMS. I don't get it, do I have brain damage or something? I chose RW10 instead of RW18 and RW10 had the same fucking IAF waypoint as a similar procedure for RW18 so I didn't realize my mistake until it was too fucking late.

Interesting mistake, though, IMO, because it means that a fatigued pilot can mistakenly think they chose the right procedure if 2 similar procedures for different runways share the same entrypoint. However, I recall instantly noticing that the other waypoint names and FAF name in the FMS plan didn't match my chart, but I thought it was an x-plane / charts app navdata mismatch (which shouldn't be possible because on same AIRAC cycle, but I'm a retard so...)...

It is, but the default x-plane 12 citation x is missing some functionalities that I think are found in the real aircraft of this same model. It is very much functional though, but slightly dumbed down, you'll find that certain switches and buttons are either non-functional or even completely missing, especially if doing what I did by downloading and following the real aircraft's manual's checklists.

For example:
>No IRS control panel, no way to "align" IRS
>No startup delay for electronics, everything comes alive immediately
>The FMS looks and works like the real thing, except you'll find you cannot set some minor options, such as is the runway dry or wet and sometimes you cannot change a value afterwards while designing a flight plan even though in the real thing you would be able to I think
>no DC power bus/xtie switches

So, there are these very details that basically can be ignored in the checklists since they do not exist in the modelled airplane.
Anonymous No.528500840 >>528501370

The whole panel is missing? Shame it's not quite fully-featured, there's one coming out for MSFS soon that's supposed to be very detailed. I've been wanting to get a bizjet for a while but not sure whether to get an older one or a slightly newer but not completely soulless garmin slop and the Citation X looks nice.

>The whole panel is missing? Shame it's not quite fully-featured
Well, now that I mentioned it, I looked more into it and apparently cessna offers these options for the navigation systems on their citation x's: GPS + AHRS or GPS + IRS - I also found a detailed PDF of the cockpit instruments of a real citation x that matches the one in X-Plane and it is also missing the IRS control panel. So I guess the X-Plane citation x is modelled after this kind of version of the aircraft, then.

>on holiday in Egypt
>swim quite far out from the beach
>come across a big fucking fish
>we see each other, panic, and swim off
It was a bit spooky but funny thinking back. Also went on a snorkelling trip there, and discovered a week after getting home that someone had been eaten by a shark on one of those trips only a few weeks before.

I can, but a couple incidents as a kid made me scared shitless of very deep water (both clean and murky) and sharks. One was a pair of high school students grabbing me from my ankle and keeping me underwater while I was having swimming lessons as a kid and nearly making me drown. The second was very shortly after while swimming in a murky but kinda deep river and having a enourmous cat fish swallow half my leg. I only learned afterwards that they are basically harmless.
I have no problem swimming now in mountain lakes or close to the sea shore, but I'll never dive in the ocean.

Fair enough, things like that when you're young can have an effect, getting your leg swallowed by a cat fish is quite a good story though.

>sensor fusion
I wonder, in practice does that mean that say the FCR and HSD screens (I only know their F-16 names) are merged on a Gen 5 to single unified display?

Even gen 4 does this in a limited way, with datalink tracks showing up on the HSD screen in the F-16, and RWR/MAWS warnings being displayed on the HSD in the JF-17.

Or does this just mean that the computer merges data from the radar, the IRST, datalink, etc. into a single track?

>are merged on a Gen 5 to single unified display?
Sensor fusion from my understanding is more about the "fusion" of different sensors, like a thermal camera, visible spectrum, low IR night vision, RWR/MWS etc which can be combined into a single image and shown onto the HMCS (in the case of the F-35 allowing you to see through your plane etc. But it also applies to merging the data from different radar modes to create very precise ground radar images etc while also being able to process and share data gathered by other F-35s/awacs/EW suites etc with other members of the squadron.
Having an unified LAD is more about convenience and ease of use. (see how the M-346 has a LAD as well to train pilots but it doesn't have even half of those sensor fusion capabilities, it can only simulate them for training)
>Or does this just mean that the computer merges data from the radar, the IRST, datalink, etc. into a single track?
It's that and more, basically it's about getting all the data possible on your operational enviroment and filtering it for the pilot to give him the most SA possible without overloading him.
At least this is my understanding of it.
