Yes, the idea is that you have enough damage to clear white and blue mobs without it, and that you need it for bosses and tankier rares. This idea works on most attack builds.

Mana's a non-issue for attack builds. Players have huge damage in POE1 and you don't need any kind of long uptime, you just need a damage boost for really tanky enemies and it works perfectly for that.
Have you been asleep since affliction? Tinctures are like 30% of what made melee viable.

Its stronger leveling but then slayer pulls head until endgame where you have a godly lethal pride + celestial brace, but then slayer pulls ahead because they have belt slot open for mageblood builds. At mageblood level you'd be forced into armourstacker champ for a giga endgame build.

Arn's anguish+ralakesh still works (and is very strong) so you can stack frenzies to stack endurances. Overleech, cull and the various more multipliers slayer has are still relevant.
Champ is fantastic tho, especially to start with, zooms right from the first lab and you get so much out of the fortify nodes in every sense.

This just isn't true though, while celestial brace is completely cracked, champion is simply full of power, defences and qol with nothing but 1 fortify cluster on the tree and perseverance. You don't have to think about attack speed, you don't have to think about defences too much, you don't have to think about increased damage, so you can gear aggressively as fuck.
Why you think this is locked behind celestial brace is beyond me. As long as you play a skill that benefits from attackspeed (and not some overexert cringe) champion is positively cracked, it's like having a permanent haste shrine.
I implore you to look up very fast attacking lategame characters and compare their attack speed with full gear with what champ gets naked.

I mean celestial brace gives you like 70% of your inc attack speed.

I just dislike that their best new node scales only off fortify past 20. I'd have preferred they change the scaling to 3 per 2 fortify to make it more worthwhile pre brace.

Most of champ damage is coming from perseverance and brace giving you a fuckton of increased attack damage and attack speed. Not having the extra fortify past 20 means you lose a fuckton of damage, survivability, and speed. Pretty sure you double or triple your damage.

The idea is that champion was dogshit unplayable. Now lets look at what new thing its getting.

You get freed up 2 ascendancy points, so most people will grab adrenaline or 30% aura effect. None of those are significant enough to really change the meta, so shelf that.

Melee builds always run fortify, and all of the champ builds besides maybe wander are playing a melee skill.

The real change is 3% more armour/eva and 3% inc attack speed per fortify past 20. That's pretty much the only node that noticeably improves champion this patch. Without brace/lethal pride, the only guaranteed access to extra fortify is 6 on tree (technically every melee build can also pick this up).

Therefore without those items the only major change champion is getting is 18% more armour/eva + 18% attack speed, which is mediocre for an ascendancy point.

Champion just doesn't look very good in comparison until you start stacking fortify above 20, which massively multiplies your damage, survivability, and speed.

You don't need luck, you need to look at the gem list.

I think champ is the best for leveling via adren, and post brace/lethal pride it has some incredible scaling + dual scaling defense/offense has always been the best in poe. Base free fortify alone doesn't seem great if you are playing melee anyways.

Like I keep saying, just consider the whole ascendancy package. 2x fort nodes+first to strike+worthy foe; alternatively replace worthy foe with the impale node if it's synergetic to get a lot of flat) + easy to acquire exclusive extras (perseverance, Steadfast cluster+mastery, reserving grace+determ) + non-exclusive extras (charges, leech nodes, other gear). This is all pre-brace stuff. You can make a hell of a HC-ready attack build with it on a minimal budget, and you're not even limited to melee, you could make an absolute zoomer bow build with basically melee defenses.
It's a fantastic template in the same way slayer or trickster or hiero is (loads of both offensive and defensive power and qol), but a different flavored package.

The build's total DPS (everything, all clones combined) is the "average damage" as listed when set to channeling and 1 stage. So the base build is 5 million DPS. Pretty mid.

With the Sap of the Seasons build with free 200% ele pen you get 94 million DPS (once again, ignore the 2 billion, the total damage is the average damage window.)

If Sap works with lightning golem regen and low mana then 100% of builds will use it and you will have plenty of damage without playing a clunk city build.

That's been debunked after some retard wrote a book advocating people take advantage of it.
Sleep research shows that even though REM stages are separated through the night, they do so for a reason. Your brain does different things during each separate phase, sequentially. If that sequence is broken that's it. The chain is gone. You can not advance to the next. You have to reset from stage 1.
