iirc bursters inflict a fixed amount of health damage and corruption, and psyker's lack of base health makes them extremely vulnerable to just being blown up. I have no trouble face tanking them on ogryn or health zealot, and generally run one curio with corruption res on most of my builds anyway.
I don't remember the exact mechanics behind it, and I may be talking out of my ass. Even if corruption res doesn't protect against bursters themselves, it ensures you take less corruption from other sources and thus don't reach the kill threshold as quickly.

You can run whatever on damnation, but vet has a big lack of survivability talents and their stamina regen delay and low stagger weapons means you’ll want shredders and shout just to make room for yourself. The piss health also works with one of their two toughness damage reduction skills. Vets build variety is the worst in the game. Stealth also gives toughness back and let’s you get some clutch revives and do objectives easily, you can cheese a lot with invis but you’re throwing your team under the bus if you do it wrong. Just stick with shout + weapon specialist/no keystone.

Shovel has access to uncanny strike (makes grenade bleed better), has good horde clear, and mk I has a worse but still usable dueling sword stun stab. Knife is knife and also has uncanny.
If you don't care about untranny strike grenade spam, power sword VI with power cycler slices through everything, it's just a little slow. Sunder blessing lets it cleave through carapace and makes heavy attacks relevant. Ideally run it with a +3 stamina and some block efficiency.

All of these die if they try that shit with elites, you need to have good movement, manage your stamina and dodge count well. In short you need to play well and avoid damage. Ogryn can slowly walk backwards and light attack 50 crushers to death while looking out for overheads and specials because nothing else does enough damage to our pace the toughness regen, and you can take multiple overheads on the chin even if that’s too much to keep track of. If you feel strongly about it then show us an example, walk down a crusher patrol on vet.

If there was more than 1 pattern that has different abilities, they would've mentioned that. Unless they completely missed the weapon mark selection menu.
