Well, shitposter, if such a thing actually happened, it would probably be due to the fact that Takahashi originally submitted the Xenogears script as Final Fantasy VII and likely has sentimental ties with it. Additionally, there's also the fact that the last Xenoblade game came out in 2022, which was before XVI even released but was after Remake released. He likely didn't say "Rebirth" either, for the same reason.

I enjoyed E33, but I don't compare it to modern Final Fantasy because modern Final Fantasy is no longer turn-based/ATB. That said, E33 left a lot less of an impact on me than I thought it would while I was playing it. Act III being such a cop out really dampens the entire experience.

A strong ending can lift a 5/10 game to a 7/10 game that leaves you feeling impressed.
A bad ending can sink a 9/10 game to a 7/10 game that leaves a bad taste in your mouth that you remember more than the good parts.

Huh? XV, XVI, Remake, and Rebirth are not turn-based/ATB. Those are what I consider "modern" Final Fantasy, and that's what I colloquially assumed other people thought of as well when hearing the term.

The endings for what? Neither of the two games I had in mind when I wrote those hypothetical scores based on how good the ending was were Final Fantasy games. One of them was E33. However, my opinion on the endings of Remake and Rebirth is that they were not good. They could have been better. They weren't horrible, but when I got to Remake's ending I just thought "oh... it's Kingdom Hearts now" and I do not personally view this as a positive. Still liked the game overall though. The endings weren't bad enough to significantly lower my opinion on the overall game, but neither would I say that the endings are the strong suit of the Trilogy. Here's to hoping they can finally stick the landing in Part 3, because I feel like they kinda need to. It'd be really lame if the entire trilogy had kinda botched endings.

No they don't. They're action games that have a "Super" meter a la fighting games. Just because this feature is referred to as "ATB" (to tingle your memberberries) does not mean that it functions in the more traditional sense of the turn-based/ATB games. XIV is more of an ATB game than either Remake or Rebirth are, and I would not call XIV an ATB game.

Act III in incredibly weak and the reveal of Act III is something you learn never to do even in elementary school writing classes. It's not good when other games do it, it's not good when other pieces of media do it, and it's not good when E33 did it. It's incredibly disappointing.

What I find strange is how E33 has managed to garner one of the most pseudo-intellectual fanbases I've ever seen, despite how explicitly laid out everything in its narrative is. It's a very strange phenomenon. Normally the pseudo-intellectual types flock to games with nebulous stories or purposely obtuse and barely explained plot devices. E33 has none of that; everything is cut and dry and there are no questions about anything except for what occurs in the "real world" outside of the Painting, but this is literally never the subject of any discussion other than my own. I didn't like Act III because the writer(s) tricked me into trusting them more than that. The writing, or maybe "screenplay", of Act I was so well done that I thought it was going to end up being an amazing game. I wasn't thrilled with Verso happening, but I still trusted that everything would be worth it because I thought they built up the suspense and the mystery of the narrative in such a way that I would be satisfied by the end of it. Instead, I got Star Ocean 3, but it's a Painting. I didn't like Star Ocean 3's twist. I got "You're in a dream!" but it's a Painting. In 3rd grade, when we had daily 15-30 minute writing sessions in journals and then everyone read their story aloud, I got more than my fill of "but then I woke up!". Why does it need to be explained why this is a let down?

The entire game's mechanics focused around paint. The whole game leading up to that point was hinting that the game had something to do with paint. The main villain up to that point is called the paintress. Enemies fight with paint brushes and the gestrals are sentient paint brushes. Is FFXIV relevant? Because I just started it, and FUCK, it's one of the most deceptive worlds I ever saw in a video game.
On a surface-level glance, it's very vivid and colorful, and it has all kind of le wacky races, like the little lalas, the catgirls, Fran's race, the catgirls, whatever the fuck gobbos look like, and the catgirls.
And if you look deeper, the world's calendar is literally "X days since last world-ending cataclysm", the entire planet is just layers of ruins over layers of ruin, people use ancient coins instead of gold ingots to quickly transport lot of money, and there's an Empire that sees nothing wrong with doing a Mental and drop the moon.

I just think it's cool that they made 1.0's death canon to ARR and that it's an awesome cutscene.

If you're just starting, it's very long, but enjoy the story if you're enjoying the story. It's an MMO, so it still subscribes to the MMO formula where a lot of the MSQ is filler, but there are some pretty heavy hitting moments that kinda make you stop and just absorb what's happening. The single player games have filler too, but it's more noticeable and probably more voluminous in an MMO, especially over a couple hundred hours. The free trial goes all the way through Stormblood, and if you make it that far, you might as well buy the game to play Shadowbringers since imo that's legitimately one of the better Final Fantasy stories even outside the MMO.

The serialized golden chocobo card is the chase card as well as some of the other chocobos it looks like. Then Cloud and Sephiroth then a sharp drop then Lightning and Yuna then another drop and everyone else is kinda around the same price $80-40. The cards might shift in value if any become meta or any are deemed completely shit. Bulk rares used to be like $0.10- $0.50 trash, but I have no idea how that works with crossover sets.

No matter how many times you spam that VIIR is not an ATB game, you can not change the reality. VIIR's gameplay system is in fact an ATB Command based system.

Man FFT feels so clunky and the combat and progression just feels way more enjoyable in FFTA

Honestly I really enjoy the Law system. It opens up a lot of fun strategic options if you want to play into it but it's pretty easy to avoid if that's not your thing. I love using a Beastmaster to gradually make the enemy turn on their own then watch them get sent to jail it's great
