I know. I like to go into VNs as blind as possible, and I don't like to read trials because if they're good that just means I'm depressed waiting for the VN for months. Guess I have to this time.

The more I think about MLA the more annoyed I get, I cannot fucking believe that was the highest rated VN for years (and continues to be extremely highly rated). It's not like I went in hating it either, I genuinely enjoyed Extra/Unlimited for what they were, and finished the PTSD arc thinking that it was on track to be my new favorite VN, or at least one of my favorites. However instead of any meaningful payoff of what should be a homerun in character development and worldbuilding, we get three admittedly cool battles (2 and a half really since Ouka is 40 minutes long), endless masturbatory monologues that just repeat the same thing over and over, one of the worst h-scenes I've ever seen, and a complete wet fart of an ending where 30 minutes is spent infodumping the final twists in the most inorganic way imaginable. I'm actually glad Takeru gets his personality reset and loses his memories, because his generic harem protag personality in Extra is infinitely more tolerable than the sniveling, pretentious crybaby he leaves the Betaverse as.

If I played through it while it was still #1 I would've dropped the medium entirely if that's what people considered to be a 10/10 flawless masterpiece kamige. Feels like there has to be a perfect overlap between people who think MLA is 10/10 with people who thought Elfen Lied was the greatest anime ever in 2005 or still thinks Nina dog memes are funny
