Stats are decent pick, but best used from 6 to 7 since from 7 to 9 they increase your cost when boosted from lvl ups and from 1-6 you can increase them from skill books you get from attacking every 6th turn/levies/dungeons

Rance has Sat bonus that increases all of his stats by 1. In theory this is best used with 6 in all stats, in practice Int and Def aren't that important since they just reduce the damage his unit takes from certain type of attacks (def being more useful one for Rance). If you have his Attack and Speed at 7, pop that Sat bonus and then use lvl 2 Atck/Speed skill book you'll get from either Dungeon or Item Shop later in the run. In 2nd+ runs you can get 1 set of those from the start with endgame points which can make Rance a beast very early in the game

The most consistent thing I tended to notice was how Rance interacted with male characters. It seems the guy making it would like if Rance had a better relationship with the male characters than he actually does. Like a small example that I remember decently enough is with Patton. In Dai Sengoku, he not only remembers Patton, but seems to even have some respect for him by even telling him he might spare him if he gives up fighting him. Reminder, Dai Sengoku takes place directly after Sengoku Rance so it's not like he's had that same time bonding with Patton. It's just one example and you could hardly call it bad writing, but it did rub me a bit wrong.

Do you wanna go in order of easiest to hardest? Or narrative significance? Isoroku seems to be the easiest of the bunch if you don't go in with a ton of start bonuses. Kenshin can be pretty tough, but it's not too much tougher other than solo battles. Ran is probably the hardest if you actually try to conquer the map instead of speedrunning the end. In terms of acnnonicity or story relevance, Isoroku is the only one that really has any type of relevance on the future games. Kenshin route is cool, but doesn't really have much in terms of story relevance in the other titles. Ran route is pretty much completely non canon
