If I play Diablo 2 (I'll wait until it's on sale) I want to do a Sorceress with that lightning spell that crawls on the ground or a bone spear Necromancer because I watched my cousin play Diablo 2 23 years ago.

But I'm sure PoE has evolved the genre a lot and has taken all of the advancements in loot, tiers, systems, gems, rerolls and put it in a good spot whereas I can see Diablo 2 having weird grinds.

I'm through the campaign, but throughout the entire thing the damage delay was always the biggest issue. Once you get Shrapnel and can go mines to make rolling magma abuse the random proj it does become amazing, but it's more gimmick than power.

It's not that it doesn't work, it's that you're not playing builds where the damage application is more instantaneous in favour of watching "cool thing" happen. The only real big thing I am still missing is the amulet anoint for 80% AoE & the +2 chain gloves, but as of now I've unlocked all the other tricks for the build and it's not that great.
