What do you want to see in the Halo Combat Evolved Remake?

1. Base movement speed should be increased. Halo has always felt too slow.
2. Give us the movement options from Halo 5, clamber, thruster, ground pound, etc. I was really disappointed that Infinite removed these. And the grapple hook in Infinite was lame. Made vehicles feel pointless for traversal.
3. Let us carry multiple weapons. Give us a weapon wheel.

Why are you implying CE didn't have bad weapons? Are you ignoring the needler, the AR, the sniper vs flood, the rockets vs elites and hunters, the pistol vs sentinels? Speaking strictly about heroic and legendary of course. Weapons in halo need disadvantages and some need more than others. Some weapons need to be more valuable. Sniper rifle and rockets for example should have low ammo. There should be a reason not to just pick pistol and shotgun. The reason being the pistol is shit vs sentinels and the shotgun doesn't have the range for them. Giving a gun a secondary fire often means eliminating the primary fire's shortcomings; which just means you can go through the whole game with one gun unless you run out of ammo. Maybe it means something different to you, let me know. Picking up a weapon in halo is a game changer because of the different strengths and weaknesses it brings with it and because of what you are losing by swapping your pistol for a plasma pistol. Any effect a weapon can have should be singular, so you can have more weapons in the sandbox. And just to be clear, I think the plasma pistol was rightfully nerfed after CE. Maybe it could've been handled better but it was clearly the best weapon with an absurd amount of ammo. Without overcharge it's really good. With overcharge it's a no brainer. When you realize this the game becomes about finding the best weapon to go with the plasma pistol.

Or just introduce sprint. That's more realistic - you have a moderate default moving speed, and then you can sprint also. I don't think Halo should adopt a Quake-style very fast base movement speed. It's a bit cartoonish and not realistic.

Cod stayed at the top while making no meaningful changes until advanced warfare where there was absolutely no competition left because everyone kept changing shit to be more like cod. Same with counter strike. People like new things, even if they're fundamentally the same. Bungie should've been doing annual expansions for halo 3. I don't know how or what they should've done to achieve that, but it worked for the most popular franchise to just mix things up a little. Obviously call of duty had more resources and better management than bungie since they were able to shit out a whole 8 hour campaign annually where it took bungie 3 fucking years.

Production value rising + less effort involved in having fun. It makes sense that a fun enough, high enough fidelity game, where a single tap earns you a kill, will be more popular.

I was thinking of typing a lot more but suffice to say: even Reach's creative director admits non-ability gameplay aged better, despite having more reason than anyone on the planet to have an ego or hold to those decisions.

Even Halo 5, for all its bumbling and stumbling, actually at one point had both ability-focused and non-ability gameplay. Sure it was just 1 mode introduced after most of the playerbase bled, but it's remarkable they bothered at all, people were excited about it and it actually saw play. Not a huge surprise given people had been requesting non-ability returns since Reach. Well literally can have both.
Further, just turns Sprint (trade shooting for speed in 1 direction) to a general speed boost that exchanges accuracy for speed. That's way more appropriate for Halo where you used to be able to move at max speed in any direction WHILE shooting. It would also play into strafe, being turned on and off mid-strafe to further throw off an opponent's aim, but with the sacrifice of very important accuracy. Still better than halting firing just for a 1-direction boost.
And you know what? You can still have all previous abilities in other playlists/customs. No different from having SWAT/Infection (shieldless gameplay, speed changes), Fiesta (can spawn with awesome or awful weapons) and other major rule-changing modes. Halo has long had campaign-only and multiplayer-only types, so it's just having more variety for differing audiences within a reasonable range.

Oh, for sure. SPV3 is the better overall experience. But I like that in Ultimate Firefight you can just jump in an have a fun, silly half-hour session then quit out and forget about it. It's a really nice casual experience in between matchmaking and campaign mission runs. Everyone should play through SPV3 at least once or twice for the experience, but Ultimate Firefight is something I can leave installed forever and can keep coming back to.

Halo was old news by the time MW2 came around, and even CoD4 was taking shots at H3 a month into it's life. It was a cartoon game vs "realistic" looking current day shooter, and the audience of mostly teenage boys flocked to CoD in droves.
Bungie tried to get that audience back by making Reach look like greeble tactical hell and have it be as a "serious war movie", but all they managed to do was bin more of the core Halo audience.

That's true. At the same time even ODST and Security (Officer) only had some traits adapted to the Mjolnir platform. A lot of Haybusa's features stand out because of lack of armor in places and use of fabrics, so making some features stand out more in light of Mjolnir's greater amount of plating was a good call. That and the flexibility already present due to drawing on Ninja of the Future costume.
