Yet again a woman somehow ended up as one of my most powerful soldiers, a Brazilian one at that. All my other powerful soldiers died though, including the Israeli/Egyptian female I had. Also before anyone asks why she is a commander, psionic, and genetically modified, I have a setting enabled that allows that to happen, but on the difficulty i'm on/settings enabled plus the fact that it's ironman balance it out.

Dammit there's a cap on how many techs you can research.
>>527464394Yes though, muttification of North Africa and Western Asian only happened after The Islamic Empire forced African Wives upon the general populace, natives of Egypt, Afghanistan, Israel, Iran, etc were all 100% European outside of the occasional slave here and there or of course people who descended from Babylonians/Caananites (not many of these, we knew them nowadays as Ashkenazi Jews)
Of course if you go a bit further East to India, they weren't white during this time, their muttification occured several thousand years prior, but they used to be white too.
>>527467965>Ashkenazi JewsFuck is an Ashkenazi? Does it have a link to the nazis?
>>527468048Ashkenazi just refers to when they immigrated northward and stayed in central and eastern for awhile, so we actually refer to ancient Babylonian/Caananites as Ashkenazi now, the word "Ashkenaz" simply means "Germany" the similarity in spelling is actually just coincidental, but kind of ironic.

>>527467965>natives of Egypt, Afghanistan, Israel, Iran, etc were all 100% Europeanwhat is this /pol/tard shit lmao
>>527468630You realize we have examined the DNA of people both ancient and modern in those areas, and the ancient ones are genetically identical to Europeans right?
We have both Modern and Ancient Examples of Muttification which can create/spawn a Mutt race.
Recent examples of this would include, African Americans, Filipinos, Mexicans/Many South Americans.
You don't honestly think that these races simply just spawned in did you? Many Modern North Africans/Middle Easterners fit this recent history muttifcation to spawn a new race, although some tribes even located in the places I mentioned, in Afghanistan, Algeria, even in some Levantine areas, you can find some untainted people, but this is very very very few and far between.
The most ancient examples of muttification of course is India, I even examined the DNA myself I think by this point, they're only like 10-20% white now. Very unfortunately, some can reach 30-40 but very rare, their muttification happened a long time ago, and we don't really know all the details of it, a lot of it does seem to be speculative of why it happened.

>story campaigns are now individual maps. Gone is the grand campaign of the older games where you carry shit with you between maps. There is a plot, but playing every map with the same faction will make no fucking sense>races no longer matter, it's just a shape you can freely change between maps, give traits and modifiers that you can freely to any species. Not a big deal for me, but it makes your species choice practically meaningless now>only your civ culture determines your starting unit roster, higher tier units are unlocked with research. Any quirky racial units like in the old games are now either gone or inserted into the greater tech tree so everyone can have them>heroes made no fucking sense with how freeform they were at launch. Now thankfully they were updated to be more grounded with definitive classes>NO FUCKING UNIT DESCRIPTIONSThere is plenty I like about it too but that's about all my gripes with it
Lizardmen are a funny case though. They've been gone from the series since forever right? They were in the first DLC for AoW4, they came with dragon ruler types, also came with draconian TF spells so you can bring those guys back too. Despite being DLC locked, Lizardmen turned out to be the 3rd most played racial form overall by the time the 2yr anniversary hit, so a lot of people clearly also care about lizards

Almost all scenario maps, besides one, have time dates and I think some lore in main menu description that you can read once in the game/playing on the map (people miss that it's a thing, I think). They serve as a sort of prequel to the campaigns. Pic related is the order you should play them.

>>527875036I would love fantasy total war clones
>BUT WARHAMMERJust not Warhammer. My dream fantasy game would have iron age or early medieval aesthetics, mostly grounded, so like Rome 2 or Atilla in looks, Bannerlord too maybe. But with some fantasy elements on top of it.
>>527903068So kinda like Warrior King?
>>527903253Kind of, but Warrior Kings is a kitchen sink type of setting, kind of like Warhammer, since you have Early medieval and Early modern stereotypes. I don't like kitchen sink settings, takes me out too much and it clashes aesthetically.
>>527903606Right. Earlier than that, then. Kinda like Praetorian, but with some monsters.
It'll be a while, sadly, big-scale games are hard to make, most strategy games seem to be small scales.
>>527903817Yeah, that and also Rome 2 total war + fantasy and monsters is just not going to get made, since people tend to want the same thing every time so either historicals or over the top fantasy, but not the blend of the two. And for fantasy they want kitchen sink, so you have Vikings fighting gunpowder Renaissance soldiers or whatever else.
I know, my tastes are autistic, but I get angry and bored at how all the games just do the same shit over and over when it comes to aesthetics. Just with better graphics sometimes.
>>527904373Wasn't there a side game with a minotaur unit?
And I get you, closest I can think of is Age of Mythology.
>>527904495I think Dominions games kind of come close to that (well not the total war style battles and gameplay, but setting and how monsters and magic fits in).
But with their graphics fidelity it's not only sort of pointless but also even hard to tell sometimes where they are aesthetically. But I think most factions seem to lean on antiquity and early middle ages.
>>527903068So a Game of thrones total war game?
>>527908524Game of Thrones is high to late medieval, they walk around in plate armor there. And it's way too low of a fantasy setting, might as well just play Mount and Blade then or CK2 mod for it.
Rome 2 (or Atilla) + magic, monsters and fantasy races would be a better description of what I want.
I thought about getting Anno 1800 but then noticed there's about 30 different DLCs. How much am i missing out on without them?
>>527903068Bit of a tangent, why is there never any love for bronze age or even prehistoric? I rarely see fantasy stories in those periods, it's always pseudomedieval or modernish. It's been decades since Tolkien, surely people would want something different by this point.
>>527910557Oh, I would like Bronze Age as well, maybe even Neolithic. But even Iron Age and antiquity is rare and not always well made, and Bronze Age would likely be even harder to do right.
Although, there are Bronze (or mostly Bronze) Age settings, like Dark Sun, and I think that video game Tyranny, or I was told so. But yeah, not much.
>>527910557Because people generally know less about those periods and for all intents and purposes a you can basically swap out any pre renaissance time setting with each other for a fantasy story anyhow. Like does it really matter if it's a bronze age village where a hero gets the legendary bronze sword or a iron age village where the hero gets a legendary iron sword? Narratively these are both the same story. So why write about something you or your readers aren't really familiar with when you could instead write based on something you know.
>>527911407>>527912616Yeah I loved Tyranny, even if was sadly short. You're right that it would probably be harder to pull off, but I feel like the unfamiliarity is an advantage when it comes to fantasy worlds, half the appeal is discovering cool new shit. As for differences, yes a bunch of it is just flavor, but there's definitely technological differences. While narratively things probably wouldn't change too much, you could just as easily flip that around, and ask stuff like why not have people in chariots rather than horseback? It's pretty much the same thing, the intricacies of combat aren't crucial to a story. If people only consumed the familiar, we'd be reading and watching stories about office drones in their 9-5 or blue collar workers miking cement or just a neet sitting in front of a computer all day.
>>527914102I guess. But visually there would be some differences. Since bronze was more costly we could even see more fantasy dev beloved leather armor, since it seems to have been more prominent back then. Also maybe even wood armor, but that stuff maybe have been more of a native american stone age thing, or maybe we don't have surviving material from other parts of the world.
