Use the skill after big damage like a proc or riposte. You can use it in the middle of an animation. She also has dodge offset so you can continue a combo after a dodge, which synergizes with her relic buff that gives her a free skill proc after a dagger combo.

On top of being free stagger damage during attacks that normally allow no openings.

Iron Eye is fucking busted. He gets his ult so fast, and it staggers, hits in a FUCKHUGE area, and all from range. His bow moves are great, and the heavy attack is bonkers with status. It's truly insane that his skill has iframes, I don't know what they were thinking. But really the improved item find passive would be enough even if he was unarmed with no skill or art.

People who don't understand this game hate on guardian. He's got the biggest bars, the best rez, ability is great for farming and with a relic its actually a top tier stun, thrusting counter attacks have always been good since DS1, and the stance break on guard counters cannot be ignored. All else aside he actually does good damage, just not the MOST damage. And damage isn't everything, but unfortunately it does help so he's only A and not S.
Wylder is so insanely safe to play, you can run way the fuck away and grapple back in, you get a million iframes on your ult, and the busted passive. Also, with his stats and the abundance of greatswords in this, it makes it really good and easy to dual wield them for tons of stagger damage.
Recluse starts off really damn slow, cant attack more than a couple times without sucking for mana, and if your teammates kill things too fast you could be SOL until a site of grace. But late game? Goddam throwing endgame spells at the nightlord with a mana bar to make Eiffel 65 blush is great.

Sure its great when the enemy boss gets stuck aggroing a summon, and it's nice to pick up a holy damage seal for a boss weak to it, but it's not enough to make up for the tiny hp pool, piss-ass early game, and lack of mana sustain.

There is literally nothing Duchess does that another character doesn't do better. There are no redeeming qualities to this class. Some people post about popping off with her, but it's not the character it's the loadout. Get two status daggers and spam them and watch the enemy blow up, okay half the roster can do that with the exact same equipment. The restage is the only thing she has going for her, and that's just repeating better characters successes.

It should be illegal to have this much fun in a video game, with this dumb of a build.
The +1 part of the Gladius relic is something else for stamina recovery. I think this is the first time in any fromsoft game where I've enjoyed using the whip, they've always been terrible in pve.
But the low stamina cost gives you incredible up time and range in nightreign. Also it has more stagger than the katana which is very funny.
I would still have preferred a rivers of blood, but forging the whip to legendary later in the run was kinda fun.

I imagine the doggo relic would be really good on Duchess with the dagger, it's a measurable difference compared to a regular one.
With the +1 the cursed blade r1s refund their full stamina cost.
