That is how I feel. The more I've been playing it, the more evident it is that Steel Wool read through almost all the complaints from SB and fixed it. I haven't beat it yet (got the executive upgrade), but I think I have played enough to claim this as one of my favorites of the series. Its fantastic. Exactly what I envisioned SB would be, and better.

I finished the game in pretty much one sitting on launch and im currently replaying, and it just dawned on me how great it is that I even wanted to replay in the first place (especially so soon). I don't think i'll ever forget the wave of disappointment that washed over me on Security Breach's launch when I first experienced what kind of game it was going to be, it made my drop it in its first hour and I only completed it myself more recently. I've only played Ruin to completion once too

So I think it says a lot that SOTM is both something I actually thoroughly enjoyed playing and something I actually imagine myself revisiting. I expected the game to be an improvement but probably only marginally, so it's nice to have a FNAF release surpass your expectations instead of falling short of them

I beat the game last night. I really liked it, except for a few annoying parts and thinking the ending went too long.
There were some impressively well hidden collectibles. Someone else said it, and I agree: This place feels as big as the Mega Pizza Plex even though its about 1/3rd of its size. They designed the map very well. My favorite parts:

The gameplay I couldn't disagree more on, people calling it a walking sim do not know the meaning of the word (Ruin is the meaning of the word). It's explorable but in a way that feels like there was actual thought put into how it complimented the design of the game, and Mimic is a constant threat instead of a mild annoyance. I suspect it was a thing that made sense in his head, and he ended up making the clues way too cryptic (ex. the post it notes, the code, the robot Afton family, etc.). I also suspect he made it ambiguous because he himself wasn't sure if that was the direction he wanted. I could be talking out my butt here- I assume the rise in popularity of AI led him to go down the Mimic path because that's more interesting and relatable. It's 'true' form is oddly similar to a bunny animatronic to foreshadow Afton shit. A fire breaks out in the festival grounds and Fiona sacrifices herself to keep it from escaping by trapping it in the fire with her.
>The game is more open than Mimic and properly realizes the style Security Breach was going for. Areas are locked behind animatronics that verify guests tickets and day passes at the carnival, Fiona having to go to various areas around the festival to get these new passes to progress.

Okay, hear me out on this. Fazbear attains Fiona, a skilled designer, powerful machine and evidence of a kind of immortality, and the only thing that can knows how to control M2. Say that Fazbear wants something from her, what does she ask in return. They finish what Edwin started. Finish cradle, get her David back, and maybe even her Edwin back. One thing that's always bugged me is this; We know Michael is at least raised as Afton's son, and we know that Elizabeth is his daughter, but Michael NEVER in some cut scene references CC. We really don't even know that the older brother in FNAF4 is Michael at all, and CC is never referenced as Afton's son. So here's the theory. Afton used Fiona to help create advanced robots, steal more of Edwin's ideas, and study immortality. In exchange, he recreated her family. CC is robot David, the bite never killed him. I thought maybe the older brother is Edwin, but it doesn't really pan out with the way he treats CC, it is odd that they make a point that both scare the boy with Foxy, and the Edwin connection in the Michael TV room. SotM isn't a walking sim, it's a waiting sim, which is even worse. The few chase scenes were the highlight, then you go right back to the stealth "gameplay." They should have mixed both.
