Hello. We're working on the sprites for a boss loosely inspired off the schizo woody theories for what the secret boss of Chapter 3 was going to be. Think a Half Cowboy-Half Centipede.

We're currently thinking of how to redesign the face. Any input from you guys? I've gotten some feedback from discordites that the FRIEND face is a little tacky, but we're unsure if we should just go with it or not.

The hands and static-scales are going to be semi-animated in the final product.

If these are both true, then it stands to reason other things could have been meant differently too.
For example, if Kris wasn't mean to be Hero 1, instead couldn't Kris have been meant to be The Knight? They do take the form of a "Dark Knight" in the Dark Worlds. And they have a strong connection to knives, even carrying around one at all times. "The Knight which makes with Blackened Knife" would fit Kris perfectly if Dess wasn't being the knight already.

saw some reviews saying Deltarune has "surpassed" Undertale and was pretty surprised. From a Gameplay POV for sure, even going back to UT feels like whiplash after DR, but I still find the characters of UT more relatable and the story more resonant

If this was all true, that Vessel was meant to be Hero 1, Noelle was meant to be Hero 2, Kris was meant to be the Knight, wouldn't the last major role also stand to be different?
Hero 3, the Prince Alone in Deepest Dark. Why would that one be the same here? Ralsei is intrinsically tied to Kris from all angles. If everyone else had their roles changed, surely his was too, right?

And there's two prime candidates for that role:

I think every character that was a Goner in Undertale still is up to something in Deltarune. The book guy stops you from reading the furthest library books, the donut guy helps in creating the traffic jam in Chapter 2, and clam guy/girl swap places when you try to talk.
What it's adding up to, I don't know. The traffic jam thing implies that they're helping move the plot along somehow, since the White Dog starts doing 'donuts' and then the donut guy follows, causing the traffic jam, which then forces the heroes to go to the library.

since the game is a Dragon Blazers romhack and Dragon Blazers is based on Gerson's books which are based of the religion which is based on the prophecy (or something along those lines) I think Ramb already knows where the next dark fountain will be opened up and has a task he intends to perform there, too. Probably not as major as the S-Rank room game though, but what he is is a power board and that means his function is to let lighters 'plug in' various kinds of electronics. So his future actions will probably follow the same theme of allowing us to interact with machines and devices some other force is trying to keep away from us

This is the train of thought for the schizo theory I'm sticking with now. The story was meant to be played out with these actors in the roles instead. But it ends tragically, probably with the death of Hero 2, which is meant to be Noelle.
So Kris and Dess found a way to reset everything and change the roles around. They've changed everything so now Susie will take the fall and Noelle will be safe.
That's the promise Kris is being kept to. That they would play the role of hero while Dess would play the role of villain all so Noelle would be safe.

And in Weird Route, we're saying "fuck your plan" and making Noelle into a new Angel to take our fate.

He is the darkner of Hometown itself, a genius loci if you will, which is why he can appear in and move between any dark fountain freely without petrifying. he's not 'from' any one part of town, but all of it at once.
This is why he's used to both literally and figuratively, having people walk all over him.
The thing that happens at the very end of the prophecy that he was hoping to avoid is that if someone opens a dark fountain inside a dark fountain inside a dark fountain, it causes him to go berserk. He will try to kill the heroes, and they have to kill him to prevent the total destruction of the actual town. In other words, Ralsei and the Roaring Titan are one and the same
