I have a question about something I don't understand.
In chapter 1, there is a section where Susie fights Lancer. Kris is not in the encounter. However, all of Lancers attacks are aimed at The Soul despite Kris not being there. In Chapter 4, Susie comments on The Soul from Kris. Canonically, this would mean that The Soul dodging in this encounter is something else? Can anyone give some explanation that isn't just "Toby probably changed how The Soul works in the lore after he decided to continue past chapter 1" Even this doesn't seem correct because the end of chapter 1 definitely shows the intention of The Soul to be an important part of the player/Kris dynamic.
I am interested in your thoughts.

It all tells me that Toby had a vision, couldn't get it to work for a long time, decided to move on the Chapter 4 while thinking about it, and never got it to gel quite right.

Also backstages and sets are a part of TV and live shows so they're a perfectly appropriate thing to add to a TV themed adventure

And then you have the Fun Gang. Ralsei and Kris are both evocative of something you know (Asriel and Frisk) yet much different in practice; the Ch1 hat and knife scenes played on this. Susie is a wholly unique element, a true wild card with no UT parallel outside of a small easter egg. Not only that, she also has recurring character elements of hating constraints and rules even early on, and Ch4 has her entire arc about wanting to scorn the prophecy and force an entirely new outcome. Susie is like the living personification of NOT doing the same as before.
I don't think there's any literal in-universe meaning here outside of Susie possibly being Gaster fuckery but that's well into schizo territory and like Sans isn't going to meet UT Sans. But the THEMATIC connection is enormous and brilliant.

I've seen alot of discussion about Sans, and how from Kris's POV he is just unrelenting hostile and Kris (not the player) probably hates his guts, especially after (maybe) seducing Toriel. Chapter 5 might be where we start to see some real divergence with UT in terms of characters wildly diverging from UT (and very deep fandom) expectations, which would be a fun way to keep it rolling. Susie is probably the wild card here, really looking forward to see how her meddiling fucks with it.
Side note but aside from absolutely insane fandom inflating of events and theorizing its refreshing how many possibilites Toby can create without going to deep into the rabbit hole. Strong characters I guess.
