I haven't started too long ago, on Act 2 now, but so far it seems like weapon mods and body upgrades are all kind of pointless? Like they barely seem to offer any kind of strong upgrade compared to the base stuff I have already. Does that actually change as the game goes on or am I just good to go crushing the game with shit I've picked up off the ground

>>527931790Mods do matter, but with Body you want to focus on dismemberment chance since outright damage form LMGs and Shotguns isnt as good as other weapon types.
The early shotguns/lmg persk are about movement and stamina, but if you are a stationary player you may not notice. With a more active playstyle you will notice the a difference if you have Reflex's dash perks. If you arent playing on Very Hard, then you might not feel the need to upgrade the adrenaline tree and Tech for additional cyberware/healing item regen for survivability.
The weapon you use and its mods also might not matter on lower difficulties.
If what you pick off the ground is doing the job with your playstyle, youre good to go.

I am having a blast playing katana V, 20 reflexes 20 body and all perks into those trees, but it's so deadly I had to ramp up the difficulty to Very Hard and it's once again fun as enemies have a chance to fuck me up (especially melee attacks even with body perks)
I would like to try playing with smart weapons or SMG or AR but compared to throwing knifes, katana and hand cannon (and im sure the mantis blades and the wire weapon are also awesome), the shooting just feels like dogshit in comparison.
Sandevistan and tearing through enemies before they kill me and getting hp back on kill within seconds to keep myself up is so fucking fun
In my gun character I picked up the talking pistol and he's fun but I just feel like im dogshit at the shooting, and on max difficulty you just get shot as soon as you peak with your shitty gun to do some damage/lockon
If anyone has a tech weapons skill progression and talent build I would like to see how good they can get (but early game all the way into mid game, not just max level shit), I really enjoyed using skippy for what he is

I love jumping off my superbike, blasting 5 projectiles into the first truck of arasaka goons, then air dash and try to land a throwing knife on the first goon out of the second arasaka vehicle
I really appreciate on how on very hard they just send some absolute monsters after my ass with cyberware maxed out and katanas and mantis blades to fuck my shit up, it keeps you on your toes
