Wait until you complete the missions that give you Lingluo and the missions after that will give you a random SSR, once those are done you can do targeted recruitment, the last thing you want to do is do targeted now and then once you do the random SSR pull get a copy of the one you targeted.

I got Rahu randomly. Was mad I got a homo at first but he has been great in both pvp and pve. His damage scales off defense so he is tanky while also doing very good damage.
If you don't dislike homos I can't say he is a bad choice. He is also never picked in pvp because despite being strong as fuck, he has remained a bit under the radar. So you don't have to compete for him, he is a safe but strong last choice when drafting because of that.

Golden lattice is meant to be the ultimate investment to a character. You are only meant to use them on your best units, at least initially until you accumulate more.
With regular character reset events happening to fix any regret you may have. Their rarity is basically meant to make you choose and pick the best characters for them, not to punish you for choosing wrong.
People are also really overestimating their rarity. We get one guaranteed from etherarena every week. An event like the one with xiada this week can give us another one, and on top of everything we get numerous fragments.
There is also the RTA arena shop as well but that's biweekly or something like that.
Once we reach the endgame and start maxing out content we will be getting even more.

I think my big problem with Nico atm is that a lot of my more invested units so far are Hollow: Gray, Freya, Kloss, and so they're not so useful against her. I'm at a point right now where I'm not sure if I should start leveling up units for fighting Nico, or work on improving my Hollow units for faster/easier Doki clears because I'm still clearly slowly or not at all at Nightmare III

Kloss and Freya are both fine for Nico, yeah they're weak to the boss' element but it's not like they get 1 shot by her, you just need them to but up buffs and debuffs. I use both them + Lian and Lily. Maybe on inferno they'll get killed but it's going to be a bit before you're there. Diting would be faster since his single target dmg is way better.

Art direction and character design is the most generic slop possible. Xiada and Rosa were the only ones I kinda liked and just because they are goon material.

Assuming that you have modules that are sensible for your team, I'd just make sure everyone is at least at 5* with a lvl 30-40 gold shell. Remember you can click the book icon on the top right to see teams that people used too, it lets you see all their gear, skills up etc. too. It's really helpful in case you need some reference.

The event is fine. It gives us some pulls itself, a new gempack to buy which is basically another 2 free pulls itself and full on lattice. Why aren't you able to get the lattice at the end? Even if you are late by a couple of days you should still be able to get it just fine.
And let's not forget this is the equivalent of the gachapon event we had at launch, not a full on event.

If you mean the union assist thing under the shop. You can pick a unit there and you can use special coins to fill it up to help your union members and for yourself. After getting 4 coins full you get a character piece. Getting 50 of those gets you a dupe for that character.

I like turn based but there is pvp and units seem to be getting nerfed out of nowhere left and right after people already leveled them up if my YouTube feed is anything to go by. It's making me very hesitant to try this game out, since it seems like anything that's "too good" is instantly dealt with.

When you + 3 others "assist" someone else THEY get a token for that character (50 tokens = dupe), (you) get union currency, but you'll get your 1/50th of a character when your thing fills up and you can put one up daily. There's 3 different tokens, 1 for each RGB color and you get those on daily allowance and more after completing daily quests, iirc 4 total.
It's up to you if you want to focus on your favorite character or 5D chess it and pick blue character when there's no other blue characters up at that moment.

As a heads up based on my experience, I fill up mine in time no problem.
At worst it might take until early next day if I am late to register, but the game allows you to register again if you haven't done so today even if the bar filled up on the same day. So you don't lose anything if your bar only gets filled by the next day.

No, she is an RGB unit, if you really want her just use the selector. I would recommend you reroll for any Light/Dark unit since those are rarer and more expensive to get.

I am guessing the defense meta is to put the weaker and medium units upfront to waste the attacker's good units and fill the innermost castles with the strongest units.

This is literally the first gacha game I've ever played where I told it to install somewhere other than C: and it actually installed to the drive I told it to. Usually they just install the launcher to the designated drive and will still install the game to C: regardless. You need multiple teams for ethernet rally which is three teams of five. You can recruit some guys and use up to two them at a time on your team. I've tried everything, Dinah, Freya, boosting him up, Lily, nothing works, he barely deals any dmg while I see similar builds, if not weaker dealing 2-3x the dmg on an identical team. I'm pretty sure shells are the #1 priority, going from gold to mythic shells (with decent reconfigured passives) is a massive boost and they're relatively easier to farm. Even if you don't get one with perfect matrices remember you can imprint them later too so there's no pressure to just level one that works well enough. Even with double drops I'd honestly rather be farming shells but I need more speed gear to go around so I'm coping with Hell 3 Doki.

Right now Speed is king because Speed is crucial for every PvE content so automatically everybody builds Speed while ignoring defenses. So what happens is everyone has glass cannon builds so they oneshot each other in PvP. Even if you take a risk and invest heavily onto tanky teams later on, a Speed-based comp with similar investments would theoretically still be equally strong against those teams simply because they can perma-CC those teams.
It's a game design failure of epic proportions just like Epic Shit, and once you realize this the entire "PvP gacha" genre suddenly falls apart and you're just left with shitty PvE grind game with even shittier PvP where people just oneshot each other. The absolute gall to promote this as PvP gacha, even holding tournaments and such, when XD can't even design a proper combat system other than copying Epic Shit.

Vice is a R unit but he seems like a legit option if you're gonna try and do the fight without the lily/sania combo. His thing is that his S1 has a good chance to land taunt and if Nico is taunted she doesn't do the big AoE slam attack. His S3 also has atk down and push back too which is good.

As for someone who can inflict speed down Marvell or Viper seem like they'd work. I've also seen people using Cachi The Guard too, mostly for inferno Sharon but I think he's good for Nico too. The def/immunity on his S3 is really nice and his S2 can land speed down as well.
