Im convinced that Spamton was "lightning in a bottle" since nothing in Ch3 or Ch4 has come close. Hell even Queen is more likable, funny, and heartfelt than most of the new characters we've met.
You can maybe attribute this to the fact that Ch1 / 2 are "the start" and now we're in the "rising action" part of the plot. But something's missing.
Further evidence: Toby said he wasn't sure if anyone would like Spamton when Ch2 was in development. Again, telling me he's having trouble with designing memorable characters. Tenna was weak 99% of the time, up until the one (admittedly good) family memory scene.

Knight's appearance have some elements of Dess/Holidays, but it's identity is ultimately unknown. Don't fully know why either but I'm guessing it's because the Mother 3 party is slightly more "gimmicky". Duster and Boney particularly can NOT replace Jeff and Poo.
Poo can copy enemy attacks, has his own skills, and is better than even Ness at certain things.
Jeff with the right items is flat out busted and can end fights super fast, gets you special items as his IQ goes up, and doesn't use PP at all so he just ignores certain attacks and doesn't need certain items.
Duster is kind of gimmicky and all of his skills are specific things that might not do much for you in the first place, plus he's pretty slow.
Boney is Jeff but without any of the extremely busted items. He's there mostly to give someone else items to use or use an item to deal quick damage.

I'm glad Undertale and Deltarune are pretty simple RPGs honestly... bullethell part probably makes it harder to work with in some aspects but man making a full on RPG, even a simple one, is fucking annoying. With the bullet hell stuff they can do whatever the hell they want, mostly.
