Mulcharmies, when timed correctly, basically guarantee a draw (Meowls is the exception but it becomes much more powerful against specific decks). They end up replacing themselves and put the opponent in a similar fucked situation as Maxx C.
The problem boils down to the fact that holding back isn't really an option most of the time, because forbidding yourself from doing aspects of your combo puts you in a weak position, which the opponent is basically going to immediately exploit.
Ultimately my point is this: Turnskip handtraps, like the Mulcharmies or Droll etc., are not tolerable in a world where you have 1 turn to not lose. That turns it from a turnskip to a gameskip

Youre correct in the sense that the damage and explosiveness output is completely out of scale because there will be situations where you just want to pass on almost nothing and get instantly killed by the opponent going second, but thats still better than the person going first always being at a default ginormous advantage because not only do the charmies have actual inherent counterplay unlike the coinflip which increases depending on your deck choice, deckbuilding choices and the hand you drew, they arent always going to be in your opponents hand either and sometimes you can completely play around the charmy they used

In an ideal world decks would be designed so well with relevant locks and restrictions to begin with that charmies wouldnt be necessary, but that would require taking powercreep back to the point where trap cards and gorz are actual cards you want to dedicate full maindeck space for. Right now id say you mainly just want to play decks that even if they can access bigger combos, can also instantly pivot to midrangey/ control playstyles under the charmies and you should fully expect to always play the majority of your matches under some of these restrictions, so get ready to summon just a few times and search some archetypal backrow interactions to prevent your opponent from instantly killing you, not from them playing at all and instascooping

There is no card fix to this problem, we need a rule change to not allow you to die immediately in 1 fucking turn. A few good ideas have already been thrown out so I won't go into them again but ultimately the problem is, you don't get another fucking turn to come back from these turn skips, you just lose. Monsters are too big, life points are too low. Any skip is a death sentence.

The increase to LP offsets the turnskip handtraps by enabling you to actually hold back your plays for future turns, since you aren't going to immediately lose 18000 LP in one sitting (and if you do, that is a balance issue that should be addressed)

Best of 2 is the real fix but none of you have evolved enough to have that conversation with yet.
Fixes everything and the only drawback is that draws will become more common than they currently are (which isn't a problem IMO)

If the LP increase offsets getting turn skipped, then it makes Bo3 all the better. The major issue with Bo3 right now is that the side deck essentially serves the one purpose of holding your silver bullets. With the LP affording you a extra turn, your side deck opens up to grind tools and even future generic mid/late game cards as turn skipping is no longer a thing. Plus both players being afforded 1 game where they go first/second means they can't complain about getting bricked anymore.

The issue with maintaining Bo3 with 3x LP is that each individual game would last longer. This would normally be fine but we already exist in a world where games go to time with 8000 LP Bo3 matches.
Increasing the LP with no compensation just results in more games going to time. If you try and compensate by adding more time per round, you lower the amount of rounds that could be done per day, which could cost Konami in the long run (since if you need X number of rounds, you may need to hire the venue for a third day to get them all done if every round had an additional 15-20 minutes)

The Elephant in the Room that we're not addressing is that OTK strategies are a glass cannon so they actually need cope field spells like this and Sangen to not collapse on itself due to interruptions.

Midrange/Combo decks like Snake-Eyes, Ryzeal, Maliss, Blue-eyes, Orcust etc have their own Field Spell but they are all part of their combo lines so they don't need blanket immunity since they have multiple combo lines to go into if one fails. OTK decks are linear and live or die whether or not their line was interrupted.

Not really, Fusion and Synchro cheats rarely break the mold on a wide-scale quite like Meteonis Drytron. If they were just analoguing that gap, the Drytron Rituals would've been the ones that featured the cheat, not literally every Ritual ever via the Ritual Spell.
Synchros do shit like making a non-Tuner into a Tuner. Fusions do shit like Contact Fusion or Fusion Substitutes.
Meteonis Drytron takes one of the fundamental balancing principles of Rituals and removes it.
Herald of Ultimateness is a high Level Ritual, with a powerful effect that can negate many things, but its also balanced by having less ATK than a regular boss monster. It's meant to be hard to reach but defensive.
Meteonis ignores the high Level and BENEFITS from the lower ATK, so they just don't give a shit.
