and many other tangents that might fuck things up, i think there's only been like 5(?) times where we've killed Elemer fast day1, and 2 of those where at like lv4 or so, but more often than not people just go there with no dmg or real plan at all and waste the entire day killing that fuck just for a shit purple reward, and surprisingly of the few "really smooth day1 runs" i've had people just dont go to the castle at all or barely bother with the bottom boss at most on day2, there's literally no in-between for PS players, its either

or
>dont commit to it at all and dont get shit for rewards/weapons on day2 so there's no dmg on the Nightlord
i'd say start of day2 should be the time to go there, but i've also had runs where the circle just closes right as we're at the boss on the top, more often than not i just feel like ditching people entirely in cases like this, same for some strong enemies specially early on, like why the fuck are you hitting the Spirit/Revenant/Dragon/Bird on the lake at lvl3? thats at least half a day wasted on what could very well be a fucking blue

I like pierce weapons moveset particularly thrusting swords but it's bad. Especially in a game with time constraints things like time-to-kill really adds up. It's great against bosses and for not getting hit lf the boss has a good lock on point for the reach of your particular pierce weapon (er and nr have been great about this compared to previous entries) but it doesn't feel competitive without buffs or status as any other damage type. Which actually feel buffed by buffs and not simply renderer functional.

i'm currently using A because the FP regain is nice, anytime the boss gets poisebroken i regain a lot. It also has increased runes.
B has +2 Faith, fire and holy attack power up for incantations, and the effects on Ult which i never used. Why would i give up my health for others? yeah im immortal but i dont get it still.

Use shards, comets, stars of ruin, magic glintblade, carian slicer, night shard, rolling magma, icecrag, shattering crystal, rancor, dicsus, triple rings, lightning spear, lightning strike, honed bolt, catch flame, o flame, flame whirl, black blade, burn o flame (vs caligo), black flame, etc
These all work great solo and you will never end a run without at least several of those dropping, between sorcs and incants.
Recluse takes more work solo than other characters and that's mainly down to managing your FP with cocktails, meaning you have to at least somewhat think before blindly absorbing crap and actually getting animation locked.
You can cheese a lot of bosses with her, especially when abusing her invulnerable AOE Freeze or combo your Ult > Lightning Stake, even the Auto Parry can be very easily abused against most enemies and bosses because for some reason you're just invulnerable to damage most the time even if they can't be parried

Mines - upgrades for melee weapons mostly. Especially good to have in case you haven't found a solid weapon with correct element for the night lord. Also great for early easy boss for levels.
forts - Easy and quick boss to level up early. plus mage items
Cathedrals - same as above plus keystones for Gaols. And cleric items.
Camps - bosses usually take longer but usually have elemental weapon drops.
Castle - most dense exp farm on map

I feel like I'm in a love/hate relationship with this fucking game. I love the Elden Ring combat, I love all the Ideas it has of adding randomness to it, but it feels like it's half done. Doesn't go far enough. More like a pretty okay Elden Ring mod than a standalone game.
Every round is the same rush to the same locations, so much that if you're leading a party for more than 2 or 3 games in a row your brain goes fucking mush with "Wait, have we done this? It's still night 1, right?"
But my main complaint is: Why not go all out on the roguelite element? Why not give us a bunch of outlandish shit? Attacks chain to other enemies, random crits (as in double damage, not what the game calls crits), actually noticable self healing, melee weapons fire beams when used, chance per attack to summon a mimic tear, every 45 seconds, an attack that would have struck you gets automatically parried, regardless of your weapon / current animation state, spells you cast have a chance to be double / tripple cast at no extra cost, your weapon now applies every element, fuck it, YOUR SPELLS apply elements / bleed. Hold dodge to keep rolling like sonic the fucking hedgehog. ANYTHING FUN.
Arguably the most fun abilities to get are "walking casts X spell" and Glintblades, and the former is absolute ass to trigger on anything but recluse and Ironeye and ALL of them are absolute nonsenseical useless bullshit in terms of actual damage. How much better would this be, if they actually leaned into more fun abilities? Imagine revenant, but the minions you accumulated actually came with you, and weren't just insta gibbed by bosses. her entire "You have a chance to ressurect minions" aspect is ENTIRELY out of play on bosses. Imagine playing Wylder, and with every attack there was a chance a phantom of a random boss appeared to also do a single attack. Imagine playing Raider with a legendary upgrade that drops Lava where you walk that hurts enemies.

After that you run back to the first troll and go to the ruined wall. Before the merchant there is an exiled knight. In this spot you wall jump and grab the ledge, then go left and around the corner. You will find another ruined wall that you can jump, and you'll be in the top floor for the second boss.

I figured out why /vg/ thinks relic and recluse are bad. Basically the common strat is to just run around the map doing all the little soldier camps and churches and not killing any bosses that drop +2/legendary weapons so those players are pigeon holed into upgrading their starter weapon or hoping a fort has a good staff they can upgrade instead.
Running around doing all the easy mode enemy camps is a viable strat but you have a much less chance of finding the super OP caster item that helps casters carry the game
