Pvp is the weakest part of any souls, sadly. A lot of potential there. Gravelording could've been a neat mechanic, for example, but FROM squandered and from there on invading has only grown more diluted. Elden Ring being a L2 fest where luck is a skill so you don't get obliterated by three sets of stag lightshows doesn't do it any favours.

So at the ending you repel the gigantic tree, which i was under the impression was the god that the night lord was an avatar of. Marika was the avatar of the Greater Will which was represented with the Erdtree. Miquella was trying to become a god and fucked it up when trying to make the Haligtree, since there was no god that he was trying to bring there or potentially the Erdtree stillbirthed it in a similar manor to how it repelled the tree in this one. The shaman mother in the tree in Marikas village also has this symbolism of Empyrian for Tree God. The crucible was an attempt at a synthetic tree by melding people together in mass to reach the gods in the style of the tower of Babel.

Night of the Demon is literally a griefer relic in its current incarnation, they should change it so that the MP restoration is happening during Crossed Legs gesture alongside the madness buildup, and at roughly the same pace. I almost never powerstance. I pick my best weapon for the situation and 2hand almost all the time because you can at least do a half-assed block and guard counter if need be.

is there an "appropiate time" to go kill shit on the castle? there have been runs(outside of trolls wich are ez) where we've cleared stuff there surprisingly easy and fast on day1, but more often than not(80% of the time) its a literal waste of time due to:
>no blunt weapons for the knights, specially crucibles
>nobody backstabbing the vanished knights
>no decent status effects or status effects at all
>too low level
>Elemer at bottom/top
and many other tangents that might fuck things up, i think there's only been like 5(?) times where we've killed Elemer fast day1, and 2 of those where at like lv4 or so, but more often than not people just go there with no dmg or real plan at all and waste the entire day killing that fuck just for a shit purple reward, and surprisingly of the few "really smooth day1 runs" i've had people just dont go to the castle at all or barely bother with the bottom boss at most on day2, there's literally no in-between for PS players, its either
>fully commit to the Castle on half of day1 and very possibly throw the run away due to lack of time
or
>dont commit to it at all and dont get shit for rewards/weapons on day2 so there's no dmg on the Nightlord
i'd say start of day2 should be the time to go there, but i've also had runs where the circle just closes right as we're at the boss on the top, more often than not i just feel like ditching people entirely in cases like this, same for some strong enemies specially early on, like why the fuck are you hitting the Spirit/Revenant/Dragon/Bird on the lake at lvl3? thats at least half a day wasted on what could very well be a fucking blue

obviously level 4 or 5 bellhunter is a bad time for most, however if there's nothing else close by you can try to whittle him down anyway so it's faster come day 2
crucibles will be suffering if you don't have someone to carry the damage, giants go a lot faster if someone has bleed, banished knights are probably the toughest overall and give the least reward but they're still doable with solid aoe preferably

Don#' need blunt for Crucibles, just parry and gank them.

Got this bitch first try. I assume she's one of the easier ones. It took me a bit to figure out you need to whack her during her sleep attack. So far every single boss was a super tanky and a pain in the ass to hit while they were going from one side of the arena to the other.

I like pierce weapons moveset particularly thrusting swords but it's bad. Especially in a game with time constraints things like time-to-kill really adds up. It's great against bosses and for not getting hit lf the boss has a good lock on point for the reach of your particular pierce weapon (er and nr have been great about this compared to previous entries) but it doesn't feel competitive without buffs or status as any other damage type. Which actually feel buffed by buffs and not simply renderer functional.

I like to do north west, then run through the castle to south west, drop down to south east and then back to finish with north east.
Unless a shifting earth event removes it then there's a grace right north and you can level up and restock before the boss at the top.

Use shards, comets, stars of ruin, magic glintblade, carian slicer, night shard, rolling magma, icecrag, shattering crystal, rancor, dicsus, triple rings, lightning spear, lightning strike, honed bolt, catch flame, o flame, flame whirl, black blade, burn o flame (vs caligo), black flame, etc
These all work great solo and you will never end a run without at least several of those dropping, between sorcs and incants.
Recluse takes more work solo than other characters and that's mainly down to managing your FP with cocktails, meaning you have to at least somewhat think before blindly absorbing crap and actually getting animation locked.
You can cheese a lot of bosses with her, especially when abusing her invulnerable AOE Freeze or combo your Ult > Lightning Stake, even the Auto Parry can be very easily abused against most enemies and bosses because for some reason you're just invulnerable to damage most the time even if they can't be parried

I feel like I'm in a love/hate relationship with this fucking game. I love the Elden Ring combat, I love all the Ideas it has of adding randomness to it, but it feels like it's half done. Doesn't go far enough. More like a pretty okay Elden Ring mod than a standalone game.
Every round is the same rush to the same locations, so much that if you're leading a party for more than 2 or 3 games in a row your brain goes fucking mush with "Wait, have we done this? It's still night 1, right?"
But my main complaint is: Why not go all out on the roguelite element? Why not give us a bunch of outlandish shit? Attacks chain to other enemies, random crits (as in double damage, not what the game calls crits), actually noticable self healing, melee weapons fire beams when used, chance per attack to summon a mimic tear, every 45 seconds, an attack that would have struck you gets automatically parried, regardless of your weapon / current animation state, spells you cast have a chance to be double / tripple cast at no extra cost, your weapon now applies every element, fuck it, YOUR SPELLS apply elements / bleed. Hold dodge to keep rolling like sonic the fucking hedgehog. ANYTHING FUN.
Arguably the most fun abilities to get are "walking casts X spell" and Glintblades, and the former is absolute ass to trigger on anything but recluse and Ironeye and ALL of them are absolute nonsenseical useless bullshit in terms of actual damage. How much better would this be, if they actually leaned into more fun abilities? Imagine revenant, but the minions you accumulated actually came with you, and weren't just insta gibbed by bosses. her entire "You have a chance to ressurect minions" aspect is ENTIRELY out of play on bosses. Imagine playing Wylder, and with every attack there was a chance a phantom of a random boss appeared to also do a single attack. Imagine playing Raider with a legendary upgrade that drops Lava where you walk that hurts enemies.

Its normal attack is 584. To get to 925, that's a 58% increase. We see it has +14% ranged attacks, so you'd only need another 44%. I usually have 3 +X% ranged attacks in an iron eye run, and there could also be some +X% damage in general or physical attack items. So that's not really a typical jar cannon, but its not unrealistic either.
