Hope you're all doing well aces. Wanted to swing by and show a new trailer for the free Ace Combat inspired PC game I've been solo developing since 2021. It's called Hellbirther and it's a 2D shooter/strategy game with a campaign and lots of customization, based around drone operators controlling walking tanks from afar. Big thanks to anyone who gives the game a shot!

Someone ported the VR campaign to PC
https://www.nexusmods.com/acecombat7skiesunknown/mods/3223
>>527905870>2025>PWs PS-exclusive campaign releases on PC>PA forgot about Mobius' PSVR campaign so it's still rotting there>3 guys port it while also including a non-vr versionIt may still be a WIP but thank god this community never disappoints.
>>527888469Makes it even more baffling that 3 released the way it did in the West. What in the hell were they thinking?
>>527905870Nice
>>527908597I have been wondering if it'll show up in as a bonus mode like we had in 5. As lets be honest the PS only VR mode failed spectacularly so well in fact most everyone forgets it even exist.
I forget it exist I have the PS4 version
>>527917539They were thinking $$$ 3 didn't do very well in Japan after they sunk a lot into it so it was a cut cost to make something out of it idea. Which is why 4 went back to basics.
>>527888469I checked the mega this set isn't in it does anyone still have access to it? So we can add a few more things to the AC3 folder

>>527947526When are we going to have F-35 fly by that castle?
So given how many videos of missile interception we've had over cities the last few years do you think 8 will have a more active mission area when we get the shoot down these missiles mission that is common for the series?
Like for instance some of the missiles can't be targeted as they are scripted for allied interceptors to shoot down. They are just showing up to give the mission more flash and make the mission feel more active and intense.
Huh I didn't even know Iran had Cobra's in their inventory....well did have.
>>527962506>some missiles can't be targeted because they're meant for allied interceptors to shoot downThat's a terrible idea, I don't want a repeat of AC7's worst missions where you can't shoot down the enemy because the script isn't allowing him to be defeated yet.
>>527966369No not like that not at all I don't want that either. What I mean is along with all the missiles you can shoot down a few spawn without a target box around them and are blown up at preset times.
I'll give an example
Say you have 70 missiles spawn at once that you can shoot down an additional 15 more spawn as well but they lack target boxes and they don't show up on your radar you'll never know they are even on the map till you see allied AD take them out.
If you take out all of your missiles before the scripted missiles are shot down the game will keep spawning enemy fighters for you to play with until the scripted missiles are downed. Yes this would be a play the level till the timer runs out mission type.
That way none of the can't kill it nah your never meant to kill it to start with and the game will give you unlimited things to kill if you finish your part of the mission fast enough.
>>527965145I have no idea what the yanks were thinking, giving the Iranians of all people the full selection of their inventory right before the Shah collapsed.

I wonder if Erusea survived the lighthouse war aftermath intact or did most of its land broke away in independence
>>528012461Well at lest the last one was built in 2015 so it won't to be hard to start back up. Plus its a cargo plane so its not like trying to restart F-22 builds
>Still waiting for the umm we need to start making B-52's again moment
>>528014484We know a few did so I fully expect they got the Belka treatment and what is left in 2025 is whatever small size they were before they started conquering smaller countries.
>>528014916Free Erusea in shambles
>>528014484Aces at war does say many nations chose to stay independent after the end of the war.
In addition, Erusea's military would have been in shambles by the end of the war. Even if they wanted to retake those nations by force they likely wouldn't have the capability, especially since the IUN would be watching Erusea very closely.
I wonder if Erusea started selling these post war
>>528015321Retake? Are you mad?
With both Mobius & Trigger flying
Mobius took out Free Erusea in a day add in Trigger and the two of them can do it after a nice breakfast and before lunch is ready. The days of Erusea doing anything are over and done.
>>528016267The X-02A didn't see a lot of export success after the continental war, I'd imagine that would extend to the X-02S. The X-02 family strikes me as a horrifically expensive aircraft to run, with all those variable geometry surfaces.
>>528016267Very limited at best especially with all new fighters on the market and in production by 2025
Think about it by 2025 you got Tempest, KF-21, NGAD F/A-XX, Apalis, XFA-27, Fregata, Cariburn, Forneus, And possibly the F/A-32C
And for low cost high power you got F-15EX's and some of the upgraded F-16 variants we saw in 3 may be showing up as low cost options to modernize your airforce.
Its a very very crowed market today and the X-02 is over shadowed by many far less maintenance nightmare planes that offer equal or better ability
>>528016267the poor thing is probably cursed no wonder it barely sold.
>development had to be halted due to Ulysses>EASA restarts the project as Stonehenge is destroyed by ISAF>didn't get a unit in the air/finished before ISAF captured Farbanti>all it's six ucav prototypes got stolen by Free Erusea and were subsequently shot down by Mobius One during Op. Katina>Grunder buys the rights to produce it, gets shot down offscreen during the Circum-pacific War>fast forward to AC7 and it's new variant prototype is lost during the Lighthouse War>ends up as another trophy aircraft for the Oseans to showoff during special eventsThe X-02S probably never had a market to begin with and all it's data was probably cannibalized by the XFA-36 project that GR went on to make.
>>528027090Didnt Neucom buy out the EASA? Imagine they got the specs for it too
>>528027090>The Oseans are collecting superplanes like the british museum collects artifacts.Imagine the nationalist seethe
>>528014757Would they just leave an assembly line sitting there for a decade?
>>528027640Erusea privatized it, then later on merged with an airline corpo into what is now know as Neucom around the 2020s, the X-02 data probably got used in the development of the Fregata.
>>528027090>ends up as another trophy aircraft That one was destroyed by Trigger Osea had another one built just for that airshow thing they did in 2020 just like they had a new Falken & Morgan built, yeah they were showing off at this point.
This did get me thinking so I looked it up for X-02
After the continental war the FCU got their hands on the X-02 blueprints and built a few for R&D use.
Free Erusea stole/was given the 6 Erusea has built.
Fun Fact: Aurelia is the only known customer of the X-02 as its the only game where you unlock this plane by normal means of completing missions.
Only question is who did they buy from? Or just build their own?
>>528029568>X-02 data probably got used in the development of the Fregata.I'm not seeing it a high mobility planes data used in a ground attacker
>>527908597>>527905870Neat. How long until we get a port of infinite?
>>528029869Neucom most probably as they are fielding two of it's advanced aircraft (Forneus and Fregata) not taking into account that Falco Squadron had access to a non-coffin Fregata implying a connection to the company.
>>528030342It doesn't need to be on the same role though, they could have only ripped the engines for the YR testbeds that went on to culminate in the Delphinus 1.
>>528007821I'm gonna say it. The XFA-36 is a disappointing design which fails to capture the appeal of the X-36. It's too geometrically complex, the canards are too far backwards, the engines and nose are too pointy. Still a good plane, the raised wingtips are cool, but its burdened by wasted potential and out-done by its inspiration.
>>528031881We don't know who makes Forneus or the other two those 3 designs are just vague enough to be anyone could build them including LM who for some reason has an office and factory in Strangereal.
Now Forneus on the other hand its very clear who built it. It very much is the plane that leads into the Delphinus series.

>>528036602>R-300No such plane exist do you mean the R-211? in which case they share noting in common beyond both being ground attackers.
>>528031881>Falco Squadron had access to a non-coffin FregataHuh? Well what do ya know I never knew that which might be in part that this one can't be emulated
It doesn't look to bad with a normal glass cockpit
>>528037770No I meant the R-311 and R-352
>YR-302 being a reference to the concept art of the R-352 (it was labeled as R-302).>canonically believed to be a spacecraft(becomes a reality with the R-352), had a very bad high-altitute performance(fixed by the R-311).>R-311 fixes that problem by hyperfocusing on it's A2G role and converting it into a parasite aircraft.Forneus and Fregata even share the XR prefix making it easier to understand that both are experimental R-Series from Neucom, I understand the Apalis being hard to pinpoint a manufacturer but not the XRs.
>>528045314>XR instead of YRI'm going to kill myself should have double checked before posting.
Neucom inspired colors for my away kit, what should be my home colors?
>>528045314Ok I see where your going with your thinking now they may go that route we'll find out soon. To be fair right now Neucom is just an airliner they don't even have a weapons branch so whoever has designed these planes haven't merged or been bought out by Neucom yet.
That is sort of like saying every plane that has an F in front of the number was made by the same company. Yeah its more than likely this is what PA is going to do but I would like some more variety in it before we reach full cyberpunk game.
I still don't see the 302 connected to the 311 Fregata is a good all around plane the 311 is kind of useless even as a ground attacker due to its limited weapons lighter armor and very poor mobility. Its a complete downgrade from Fregata its one of the worst planes in the game. The R-201 & 211 are far better ground attackers than the 311. So if your going that way then one of those would be the more better choice
>>528047673>>528048505>>528048675Best Belka kit i can think of
If anyone has any more ideas drop the 3 color combo and I'll try my best
I don't know what it is but something about a stormy summer afternoon day while listening to synthwave just hits all the right buttons.
>>528015321I wish wecould'va the original plan for Erusea in 7 because I highly doubt doing 04 2.0 was something they would do if they weren't crunched to death,
>>527983685Had no idea Kono played gacha. INB4 we get AC8 announcement with a Mihoyo collab or something.
>>528075980If there was an AC gacha collab (honestly i don't give a rats ass about gacha so i guess it's just more publicity) it'd be with something like Azur Lane, Kancolle or maybe a Plane gacha if one existed.
Then they could add in the airships and the Alicorn as shipgirls and everyone would be happy.
>>528075980No wonder nothing gets done Kono's playing Idolm@ster all day instead of working...now wait a minute what mangaka was also guilty of this??
>>528076898Given how gachashit works they'd probably roll out 1 character at most, which I assume would shill AC7 so the pick is the Arsenal Bird Justice or SAC Alicorn.
This time around the Nagase rescue mission was crazy
>Flying to the signal blowing planes out of the sky with SP missiles
>E-767 spawns I slow down to kill it turns out I had 3 Mig-31's on my tail the whole time but all 3 have been damaged by Chopper & Grim
>One zooms past me I blow it up
>Second one first a missile so close I can't evade then it zooms past me I kill it, 3rd one tries to shoot but is far enough away to evade then he zooms by and dies
>Named X-29 dies like a mook as he was hyper focus on Chopper didn't even try to evade my shot
>Rescue chopper spawns protect it like normal
>Apache evades my missile and double taps the rescue chopper before I can turn around to take them out.
Lets try this again
>Hornets just die don't even try and move this time.
>Migs repeat the same pattern of zoom and die
>Named X-29 has learned from his mistakes in the last round and is shooting out flares every time I fire a missile at him.
>Rescue chopper spawns
>Still fighting the X-29
>One of us finally gets a missile to connect and I end up having to finish him off with gunfire.
>Complete mission
I have played this level many a times over the years and this was by far the wildest time I've ever had in it.
It was so much FUN
Is there even a GachaGirl game with modern military aviation as a focus? Can't say I've heard of any
>>528087757there isnt any gacha game that focuses exclusively on aviation
>>528087757One existed but it didn't last long
>>528076898>gacha collab>Nagase in Alice Gear AigisIt may work, the Scinfaxi-class subs could also be raid bosses.
>>528087757I think the closest thing was the Kotobuki gacha.
>>528083369Yes the Nagase rescue mission can be absolutely relentless with enemy AI getting a good dice roll. Even on normal difficulty. And once she is spotted and the choppers spawn you have to fly in the vicinity of the choppers to keep them alive. I usually make a save state as soon as the choppers spawn because itโs easy to mess up.
Speaking of nagase, I wonder what sort of space infrastructure theyโve built using the space elevator by the time of ac7. Theyโre capable of trips to the asteroid belt but I wonder what sort of stations they may have up there, maybe even a moon base? Wonder if strangerealโs Cold War included their own version of the space race. SpAce combat spinoff?
>>528016267Apparently the CFA-44 actually managed to find an export market. Probably because it fills a particular niche that no other superplane does, being more of a field-clearing weapons platform than just another dogfighter.
>>528088105The closest I've seen is a China only gacha, but it's tanks and planes from World War 2. The P-38 is represented by twins which is funny.
This is a beautiful livery.

Do you think the Yuktobanians could have wont the Circum pacific war if they didnt invest so much money into their navy?
>>528117008Scinfaxi and Hrimfaxi would've wrecked any Osean ground forces if they weren't hard countered by Wardog and the Arkbird. God knows how things would've gone if they got the Alicorn (or whatever they were going to call it before selling it to GR) up and running in time.

Or would be, if the Grey Men wouldn't fuck them up somehow to stop them winning too fast.
>>528126283If the scope of the Circum Pacific war was wider, I wonder if PA could've done a 'B side' scenario where you play as a Yuke squadron that just happens to never run into Wardog. But you'd probably need to heavily revise the existing Osean campaign to make that work. Especially for the inevitable team up for Aces and The Unsung War
>>528124097>do mercenaries come with their own planesThis. Just as today's contractors like Draken have their own fleet of aircraft, Strangereal mercs own their fighter and take it places while looking for work. It might be cheaper for a nation to hire mercs even in peacetime, compared to building their own force, training facilities and regimen, but most importantly, in wartime, it'll be far more expedient to rely on mercs.
>>528127461>Drakenholy shit, I didnt know these guys existed

>>528136419>literally no other country got those thingsThis also worked against them because once the spare parts run out... yeah.. Also no access to modernization packages so they were stuck with the stock they had and maybe they were not even air worthy anymore.
Unfortunate that they didn't get to take off for one last dogfight.
How the hell is Osea even a superpower, any time their military shows up, its incompetent

Finally got around to playing Frontline 59, and holy shit what does Magadan feed their reservists? A mute uber driver styles on literally every active duty Federation pilot, to the point that he's the only one the Federation trusts to do their haily mary tunnel run. Fuck, if Crimson didn't sperg out and nuke his own homeland, then Driver would have been the sole reason the Federation didn't lose their war within the month.

>>528264343>1. Lore says reservist pilots receive the same training as regular pilotsMost Federation pilots aren't particularly special. Crimson 1, E-6, and other Federation characters react like Driver's a top tier ace. The man is also hand-picked for the tunnel run which was pivotal to the outcome of the invasion, although that could be a case of Crystal Kingdom seeing him as a reservist and thus expendable.
More importantly the rest of K-9 also has to be stupidly good, too, considering they all survive the whole length of the Magadan front despite being the only four planes in otherwise Cascadian owned airspace.
>2. It's implied that Driver is a veteran of the Oceania warAh, ok. I went real smooth brain with those parts of the dialog, I just took the Mercs at face value and thought they hadn't gotten their asses kicked like that since Oceania.
Speaking of Dialog, I wish Eye-Tee got more lines.

>>528427217Controls are more limited and due to the lack of colors/flat textures it can be hard to tell where/how far away the ground is. Especially the night missions, you'll find yourself trying to pull up and crashing into the ocean because you're actually upside down.

Is it possible to dodge a missile launched at you with good tone in AC3? It feels like if I'm not already going defensive before they shoot, I'm cooked.
>>528654920I'm a little sad to see Vulcan bomber only appearing in one level of AC5. While every countries appear to have loads of B-52
>>528713142Only if you are fast enough and do a last moment hard turn before impact, AC3's missiles are proportionally guided and turning in only one direction while accelerating in low tier planes wont work for you like in other AC titles since you will lose speed and give more room for the missile to react to your maneuvering.
>>528714403So I need to actually time my jink. Do you have advice for how to hit targets?
Sometimes I launch missiles that I know are going to miss at weird angle and they will score a kill, while other times I'm on their ass launching missile after missile which seem to just shoot off in random directions.
>>528715565>Do you have advice for how to hit targets?Been a while since I played but I do remember the guidance being iffy like that, best thing I think you could do is to get some distance from your target so the missile can have some travel time to unscrew itself, also give short range missiles a look, they have lower range but are faster, tend to have more consistent guidance and you can spam them.
>>528715565Your missiles work off RNG as you have already noticed. It makes no sense its very annoying but they do. Enemy missiles also do this but to a lesser effect which is why time to jink isn't as important as you think
Missiles in 3 work off RNG it doesn't matter what you fly it just matters how much luck the game rolled for you today.
>>528716531you know, I was fighting Dission just now and I did notice that I was consistently hitting him at 2000m out more than when we were close up. Thanks for the tips. Oh i guess this is probably a git gud problem but I find the gun in this game to be the hardest to use in any AC I've played so far.
>>528717313Which gun? each one is different the machine is fast but light damage. The heavy gun drops fast the PLS is well a PLS but slower moving balls of plasma.
The only thing anyone can tell you about the gun is it takes a lot of practice to use it.
occasionally I look in here and forget I'm on /vg/
>>528693291>mogs it in any way that mattersThat's not right and you know it. Sure the F-15E has a higher top speed but it doesn't even break mach 1 without afterburner. That limits its range in practice, which is already worse than the F-16XL. And the Strike Eagles' higher payload comes from it being a big twin engine gas guzzler. A trio of F-16XL could carry the same payload as a pair of F-15E, but deliver it farther and likely in less time at a lower cost. Remember that the majority of a fighter's lifetime cost is operation and maintenance, not initial acquisition. And remember how often F-16 was sent to interdict or service a ground target simply because they are easier and cheaper to operate than many alternatives, despite not being designed for that kind of mission. Export customers who can't afford too field as many different aircraft types would have loved it. Jokes aside, I bet the real reason it died is that some guys in suits decided is was McDonnell Douglas's turn. Who cares about efficiency when you have the consistently rising cold-war defense budget.
