I personally thought Sith Warrior was lame despite the praise it gets. That said, if you gravitated towards BH for your first go, the same thing but with force flavoring might be up your alley. Mission Vao 2.0 as a companion can be neat as well.
I found Sith Inquisitor a far more satisfying rise to power, especially since you're right in the dirt at the start. Imperial Agent is also interesting in that you're playing a spook in Star Wars while tiptoeing around manchildren aristocrats who run your organization.

Trooper wasn't particularly memorable and I thought it was hamstrung by the one-companion limit. Consular is essentially Jedi Jesus. Jedi Knight fits the post-vanilla stories the best IMO, and while I like smuggler, it has a very certain type of humor that would probably get dismissed as reddit pretty easily.

I am surprised that I actually liked this because I think Mandalorians are cringe in general, but chapter 1 revolving around a Great Hunt and beating a nepobaby is satisfying while chapter 2-3 focusing on you getting marked for death by the whole Republic is actually kind of great. Also telling Mando to fuck off when he wants you to become a Mandalorian is really funny, game doesn't really expects that from the players though so you still have MUH HONOR dialogue options after Mando event

I just beat Pillars of Eternity 1 + The White March. I'm currently installing Deadfire, and may even play Avowed after Deadfire, but probably I will instead swap to Rogue Trader for DLC2.

They have some kind of model for choosing who to target, with the last step of it being the player character.
Likely the tank's AC is too high and so they're not a priority. Your tank should charge so they're right up close, either the archer will switch to a melee weapon or you'll get some AoO if they use their bow (and don't have some feat that lets them not proc AoO for it)

maybe I exaggerated a bit, but stuff like becoming Hand of Jadus have quite a lot of conversation throughout chapter 2-3 (even side quest),5 different ending,double agent imp guy dying if you fuck up in earlier quest etc

I spend forever looking up builds before I start playing. Its less to look up whats meta and more trying to cure my indecisiveness. Also just checking that the skills or class I pick actually work, after starting with games like fallout 1 I'm always paranoid I'm gonna pick some noob trap skill that doesn't do anything.

I know conjuration is super busted early on in pathfinder but are any of the late game spells even particularly worth using

I built Valerie into an Eldritch Knight, put her in a party with Octavia, Linzi, Sylvan Sorcerer MC and Tristian then opened up on the cultist encounter with four fireballs at once (through scrolls). It was so satisfying to see the explosions and charred bodies. Can't wait to do it with Tsunami.

I've only really just started Rogue Trader, and I'm having a great time. I just recruited Cassia. I'm very confused about why a frail girl with no combat experience becomes a party member and doesn't just serve as the ship's navigator. Maybe I need to play further to understand. I do really like her character, though.

crpg logic, In actual tabletop players could spend all their time on their bridge and just hire mercs or other dudes to do the dangerous shit for them. The RT in game going on dangerous missions with just 5 dudes is laughable. also yeah I liked cassia too, she's a sweet girl and she has cute interactions with idira and abelard. for me, those 3 as my ride or die, because they actually work on the ship and aren't just freeloading like everyone else is, they are my loyal crew compared to the glowie sent to spy on me, gypsie smuggler, the cogboy that is only loyal to the omnissiah and calling dibs on necron tech, ect. I guess you can add the new dlc girl to the former group because the assassin cult is part of the ship, but I haven't played her dlc yet so we'll see if I like her.

Cassia is still a very powerful psyker (of sorts...) and the Navigator is so important that if she wants to accompany the LC off the ship (because life in her luxurious quarters is boring or whatever), the LC is compelled to listen to her. The best. Everything feels tense, Act 1 boss makes climax bosses of other acts feel irrelevant, you have good authority for a non sith to flex or act subservient. The only weakness is the companion group, I guess? It's not bad, but the 3 below were better.

What you want a scumbag with a heart of gold or opportunistic slimeball to be. Shoot first, sleep around, give as few fucks as possible or throw a spanner everywhere. Interesting cast to drag around too. Good antagonist to start with too.

While people overrate light warrior, the option existing is good. The varied responses to you being the absolute sith monster or a subversion are fun. Same for how you can affect companions ( Jaessa, collar Twillek). You are involved in the highest level of /conflict in a good way. Baras is good foil.
>Sith Inquisitor
Being a former slave and amassing power is an interesting idea. Shooting lightning is great. Still, half the time it feels like you are a bit less awesome than Sith Warrior in whatever you do. The climax is more cathartic in a way. Slightly weaker cast, a more nuanced 'turn a jedi apprentice away from light side'.

A weaker version for smuggler. You lack the suave/tricky aspects, it feels half the tiem you should not be involved in shit that is going on, and after Taro Blood, it feels like you lack a strong driving force for your actions. Mako is cute, at least and solving everything with guns in the world of Sith/Jedi is fun.

Anybody here playing tactical D&D mods? It's really the ultimate challenge in the D&D realm. There is nothing else out there. No other game, definitely not the newest release, and no other Baldurs Gate 2 mod either. SCS simply doesn't cut it if you are looking for a challenge.

Improved Anvil is a difficulty mod. It replaces certain encounters with far more challenging ones. It primarily achieves this by giving enemies coded immunities which they don't have in the base game, as well as modifying their scripts so that they can use abilities which aren't typically found in their kits. Many enemies now have the ability to cast spells from both the arcane and divine tables which they wouldn't typically have access to.

It's explicitly not meant to be "fair" but purely challenging. Many CC abilities are far less useful, for example, because enemies are completely immune to them. For this reason, it's very important when playing Improved Anvil to bring a roster of highly capable martials in order to deal physical damage very quickly during the periods where enemies are vulnerable.

Further, certain spells and abilities which were considered overpowered by the mod author have been nerfed, restricted, our outright removed. This includes spells like Skull Trap, Chain Contingency and Time Stop.

Most experienced veterans of Improved Anvil claim that they best edition was IA v5, with IA v6 being a significant step down in quality, and IA v7 (actually a fork of IA v6 updated by a different mod author) being a marginal improvement over IA v6. If the player does certain things or hits certain experience threshholds in IA v6, the game will activate hidden scripts which essentially punish the player with substantially nastier fights, or removes/relocates the rewards from certain fights.

It's obviously a highly controversial mod.

Also, the mod author is insane. He's a lot of fun to piss off on SP though.

For all this touted "reactivity", the reactivity is lacking when it comes to companions. My PC is a paladin. Paladin of Kelemvor, no less. Astarion should be dead the second I lay my eyes on him, otherwise I am breaking my oath by letting him live. Same with Shadowheart. I have a Sharran in the party and my Vengeance paladin has nothing to say about it outside of being mildly annoyed.

Argentasisters how can you cope.

Couple months ago I played through PoE1 for the first time, followed by a replay of Deadfire, which I had played a few years ago. Didn't play the DLCs as I don't own them.
Visually beautiful games, and the setting is interesting, but for PoE1 it felt like Obsidian only really had the energy to make three good/interesting companions (Aloth, Edér, and Durance) while making the rest meh or forgettable. Kana Rua, Pallegina, and Sagani were extremely dull characters without anything interesting going on. The Grieving Mother was at least somewhat interesting as a concept, but lacked charisma/personality. Didn't use Hiravias enough to form an opinion. At least the overall writing was generally solid and interesting. I didn't exactly enjoy the combat, so the writing and presentation was basically why I finished the game.

I was surprised at how much worse the companions were in Deadfire than I remembered, though I guess a part of it has to do with knowing how Aloth and Edér used to be and realising that three of the seven potential companions are just companions from the first game. Out of the four original ones, I found only Serafen and Maia Rua to be interesting. I guess the most interesting thing about Kana Rua ended up being his sister.
My main problem with Deadfire ended up being the writing, which was incredibly lackluster in the sense that it could range from pretty good to "American sitcom with a laugh track every 5 seconds" on a whim. The most atrocious one I came across was when Maia wants to talk to you about the first time she killed a man and your dialogue options are:

You're not wrong about Durance, Eder and Aloth being the big three but I feel like that happens all the time when you have a large cast. Some are just more important. With Deadfire, I think the game going fully voiced cut back a lot of their writing so dialogue was shorter and that's why it may feel worse.
