Imagine where your life would be if you invested all of the energy you currently expend into coping and seething instead into making a good, fun game that people want to play.

I'm starting for the first time with unreal again. used to be on unity before that. I'm aware it's a completely overloaded engine but it has some features which I really need and can only be found in Unreal for some reason even though engines used to be able to do them even 20 years ago

hi chat any marketing chads on here? reddit ads are yielding me about ~120 clicks per day which translates to 20-30 wishlists, at the cost of $15 ish per day. wonder if this is standard?

I've been trying to game my steam page with better tags to get it to show in recommended for "more like this" for relevant popular games and discovery queue but wow is steam finnicky

Reddit ads are only worth the investment if your game is a lowest common denominator disposable game. Otherwise you should know your niches and directly go to them with targeted marketing

Sounds like you're willing to go through any humiliation ritual so long as you're not forced to make a good game.

>>527713615
>well established facts backed by decades of data
yes all of which showing that marketing is a necessity, much like having a good game (which is the literal bare minimum, no amount of marketing can help a shit game) is a necessity?

It is genuinely funny imagining fat balding third worlders, seething on 4chan cursing and swearing at White gmi yesdevs. please keep going and also post hand

8 cents per click ...
well, 8 cents per view would be absolutely atrocious but 8 per click seems okay and a conversion rate around 20% is great, isn't it?

The wishlist->sales conversion rate can be very low sometimes but assuming your game is gonna cost $7 or so, you should get a small profit from the ads aside from the visibility.
Worth if it you can offset the advertizing costs from your income.
I dunno, sounds like you're doing pretty okay.

I hate reddit as much as the next guy but if you're looking for someone to buy a steam game on PC then it's a good place to put an ad as long as you aren't showing it on mobile.

LMAO LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA
Anonymous No.527716358
>>527716224
That's a possible concern but it would require a bot system that uses steam and sets up wishlists and games are nowhere near as worth botting compared to other types of advertisement such as election advertizing.

Hello everyone, I'm a nodev, a pretty fucking dumb one too, I paid shit ton of money for a unity dev course some years ago, then I real life shit happened, I kinda had to stop, now I want to get back and I feel like I don't remember much of the stuff. I'm also artistically challenged (can't draw shit). How do I become better again? is going through Unity Learn stuff gonna help or should I just try to code what I want to do and only research when I hit a wall? I plan to post progress here weekly, not like anyone cares, but I really want to get back to coding... for now I will try to recreate some "simple" games like Breakout, Snake, Flappy Bird etc, so I can refresh my memory I guess. I remember using State Machine, but is it worth for bigger games (scope-wise)? like, does it help keep the code manageable or it doesn't really matter? last time (few years ago) I remember I got really upset when I wanted to make branching dialogues and hit a wall, had no idea how to do it correctly (used scriptable objects with possible responses and where they would lead to, but it didn't feel optimal)
sorry for the rant, im really ambitious, but also dumb and I want to change that.

It's far better to make something and research along the way.
You will learn far less from a course than if you are researching->practicing->reviewing.
