letters are used as shorthand for both submarine builds and routes.
builds will always be 4 letters that indicate the four parts for the submarine. as an example a full Shark set would be shortened to SSSS. if the parts are modified a + is used. a modified hull only would be S+SSS, a full modified set would be SSSS++
routes are shortened to a letter per node per map. I think in every language except english this actually shows up in game for whatever reason. the most common routes are the fight club ones which are OJ or MROJ i believe (it's been a while)
