This literally all stems back to the death of games with server browsers and proper community servers btw.
Quake, TF2, CS? You join the server you want and leave when you want. There is no random matchmaking (well not anymore in CS) so you can actually frequent a server, find servers of you skill level, and meet people who can give advice.
The modern videogame logic of locking everything down to a matchmaker where people cant play at their own pace, in servers of their choosing leads to some of the worst communities you'll ever see. It's why despite the competitive tf2 community being dogshit, the very nature of how easy it is to play gamemodes and enter servers of your choosing allows people to figure it out and learn at a proper pace.
Videogames NEED to do away with only matchmaking and revive the proper server browser. And no, overwatch's game browser does not count.
