If your Merc has 5k HP, capped res (including chaos) and a defense aura (on you or them) they're fine for 95% of content.

Mercenaries and the League mechanic are an absolute failure right now.
This is after the recent patch that was suppose to make them tankier in the campaign and LESS tanky in the end game (for whatever reason... GGG stop watching the 0.000001 percenters).

I am in act 4 in the campaign on a new character. i have hired the last 3 merc (almost 4 but i got one shot with 900 hp and 200 es and capped res in act 4....). Each merc i hire has died before i have finished a single zone with them... they are as useless as the shit on my boots. This is the entire league mechanic we are talking about here and it is an absolute joke.

ITS ONE LEAGUE GGG STOP MAKING THINGS SO USELESS.

This was the patch i thought was going to make the league feel better, but i can already tell its going to feel even worse by the time i get this character to maps.

What is the point of having a "ALLY" if it just falls over dead.. make these thing IMMORTAL for all i care, they are useless if they are not with us.

Title. I'm playing in T15s-T16s, have a res capped Exile, was never using the cheesy Doryani's Prototype build, just had this tanky Striker that followed me everywhere. Now he's unusable. If he dies in every map, I can't afford the 5k gold to revive him, and I'm playing HC, so his missing Determination and Fortify really make me adverse to risk and I'll have to rethink my whole build 3 days into the league.

Please GGG, fix these two things before the weekend:

Revert the Merc defense nerf (when he's on our side).

They were perfectly fine before. If you want to address things like Doryani’s, just prevent Mercs from going below 0 resistance.

They used to handle a lot, sure, but they still died occasionally even with good gear. That was acceptable. The league mechanic is supposed to feel strong. We don't have a tree or other scaling systems, so it shouldn't cost 100 divines just to keep the Merc alive. Even before the nerf, my Merc with 50 div worth of gear (not abusive, just solid snaking gear for snaking merc) still died sometimes in Ultimatums. Now he's basically unusable. Every death is a 10k gold loss.

Buff merc loot.

I'm not asking for divines in every map, but it's ridiculous that 95 percent of the time the loot feels like something from Act 1, even in top-end content.

The campaign loot was well balanced, but endgame Merc rewards are not. The only reason I still bother checking Mercs is to find new ones, but I already know the rucksack will be full of trash that's completely filtered out by my loot filter.

These are small changes, but they would go a long way in earning goodwill.

By the way, I love the new league. It's extremely fun, and I'm glad my main game is back. Just don't let it suffer from unfun patches.

This was the MOST fun I was having this season, as a solo player - I finally found my companion - my entire build was built around having him at my side - He was my tank, my MF culler - my "300 or die" - Was 81, infamous - it took me 15 minutes of fighting him before I got him - it felt rewarding, I felt proud - I poured ALL of the divines I found (nearly 15D) into his gear - He had 528 MF + cull - RIP - he went from being able to do tier 15/16 without EVER dying (thanks to being properly geared for leech) to being unable to do maps tier 10 - literally the first pack of rare mobs, the first abyss - he's DEAD!

Why?! Because he LEAP SLAMS in - then TAUNTS the entire pack - and poof, he dies instantly - What was the point of this?!

Meanwhile, my Infamous Sniper with literally almost zero resists and NO GEAR - has no issue surviving STRICTLY because it's a defensive play-style - opting to use Mirror arrow to escape and doesn't stand in the fire.

That’s like the most op a skill gem can possibly be except for instantly deleting the entire screen without even pressing a button. But the aoe from rf is too small compared to vfos imo, it’s probably slower overall even if you got the best mirror quality items.

Because you don’t usually use them to craft anymore. You only need three essences on average per item. It’s so much easier to just recombine the essence mod after annulling it down. They use to be used for fractured crafting but it’s really hard to get a good craft with essences it’s like you’ll use 500 of them. I think they’re still used for synthesized items because you don’t wanna accidentally let that item get eaten by the recombiner.

Same as a player, by having defences. The buffed endurance charges from a week or two ago mitigate the shit out of doryani's downside, and equipping a dawnbreaker helps it further. Lightning dot isn't what it used to be for doryani builds.
