Is it ok to use Custom Quickslots mod for replaying this for the first time? I just found you can open inventory or use the weapon wheel to swap grenades and arm weapons in combat but it's horrible to do it that way.

I played this game way back at launch (on Hard) and, back then, I decided to go all-in on making a Quickhack oriented build and I think it was pretty garbage (again, that was my impression at launch). I put off ever fighting the Cyberpsychos because they were too strong for me and I was just dying way too quick. I also had trouble with the hand-to-hand fights, so I ignored those as well. I remember the game was pretty challenging back then and I was always really short on money, but I managed to beat the game with my crappy build.

Fast forward to a few days ago, I started playing again (once again, on Hard) and this time I fell into using a Blunt Object build. I have 20Body and have the good perks for Adrenaline and Blunt Damage. I feel absolutely overpowered and everything is easy. I just run in like a wrecking ball, hit people, use Quake and any confrontation is over in seconds. I am having no difficult defeating cyberpsychos and all of the hand-to-hand fight missions have been easy as well. I'm currently at the start of Act 2, I talked to Takemura at the diner and have just been running around decimating all the sidequests.

The point of this blogpost is to share with any superfan reading this who knows the ends and outs of this game throughout its history and if my experiences speak to my choice of builds or if it's the balance of the game between between now and back at launch.

I've done similar except I found my Quickhack build at launch to be absolutely dominant to the point I got bored with the game. I'd infect one guy and it would spread to the entire area I'm in and kill everyone all without me ever directly seeing anyone.

This time, I'm actively avoiding the main quest because of how shitty it is. My man. I had a hell of a time with Smasher in DFTR while running ENC, Hardcore22V2, and Guns Redone. V was killed in one shot by about everything, and Smasher's reinforcements were all fucking snipers who one-shot killed V as well. It mad me break my playthrough-long rule of avoiding combat quickhacks, and I was able to bypass the snipers by sneaking in an extra Overheat while Cripple Movement was active, which increased that hack's damage. I try to channel the chillness of decino at moments like this, i.e., the way he can play through Doom slaughtermaps countless times until successful while keeping a relatively level head. Also, Overheat weakens enemy armor and the Embedded Exploit perk increases combat quickhack damage to enemies affected by a control hack by 60%. Smasher's ICE was too strong for me to upload Cripple Movement normally but if you have the monowire quickhack perk, that gets around it. Dunno exactly how ENC affects the percentages, but I rolled with it and finally won.

check your settings, it might be in audio or gameplay, make sure calls from fixers and ncpd dispatcher are on. they will call and tell you what the gigs are about. But they also have thorough explanations in the mission menu. If its a fixer's gig you know whose it is by region. Nonfixer missions, you show up and someone there will tell you.

I'm trying out the phantom liberty USP-S, it's pretty good, but earlier she used a nue. She also has the problem solver for raw DPS and a shotgun for farming solo xp
Hell, even her own guns are starting to get dusty these days. Now that I'm getting beyond level 50, She reached some synergies that have her getting into a combat encounter, hacking everyone dead in ~5 seconds, then walking out.

For anyone interested:
Heal-on-kill, biomonitor & blood pump, that 100% crit chance with hacks one, + the one that restores RAM on damage (not even sure if that effect triggers on the overclock damage, but whatever)
The iconic short-circuit does +25% damage if there's a cyberware malfunction on the enemy, + tetratronic Rippler 40% more damage for combat quickhacks preceded by non-combat + 100% crit rate (+72.50% damage), the short circuit alone is a stupidly powerful and cost effective hack. Overclock causes damage but the blood pump heals me once I get low Health, + heal-on-kill heals, I basically never run out of RAM/Health for quickhacking. I also got the perk that instantly recharges your health item if you're at >25% health and get a kill meaning I am nearly immortal.

it works really well in Ultrawide aspect ratio because its mostly what stays in your peripheral vision that gets blurred at high speed like that and it hides the frame gen artifacting really well, I think video compression makes it blurrier too desu
