Won my first 2vs2. I think I underestimate manalith and how useful they are.
Is the latest Stellaris version and the Bio-Genesis DLC actually stable enough to play a full game yet without many issues? Any total war recommendations?
>>528124170You should ask their general, but probably Shogun 2. It's the most straightforward of the lot, since all clans are similar, so you'll rarely go "wait, what is this unit?".
And the DLCs are also pretty nice. Fall of the Samurai is excellent.
>>528124170Really depends on the time period (or warhammer) you like and want to play and possibly also mods you might want to use, like LotR mod.

>>528124170Alot of people sleep on Atilla. Arguably one of the best modding communities across any of the games in terms of realistic historical reskins and different time periods. Mechanically its pretty straightforward for someone who has never played total war. The horde and raising mechanics are also pretty fun. Being the Huns and destroying every settlement on the map is fun. Shogun 2 is also a classic like the other anon mentioned. I've played each for over 1k hours.
>>528124170For the best mods, Medieval 2 Kingdoms. Mechanically, Shogun 2 for an introduction to Total War. Vanilla Shogun 2, the DLCs are a lot tougher, with agents being more relevant and all.
Otherwise, depends if you're a fantasy enjoyer, or a history buff.
>>528163909Did you ever beat the campaign?
>>528164132>did you ever beat the campaignI have but maybe not as many times as you'd think. I dont really care much about the victory parameters the game sets. Sometimes just getting one island and turning it into a powerhouse is enough for me.
>>528168191I have several hundred hours into the Total War games. Never beat a single campaign.
>>528168464Yeah I cant blame you. The victory parameters are totally arbitrary and I dont find it fun to mold my entire strategy around holding a few random locations the game tells me to. Plus for some factions it just gets so fucking tedious to try. I've never beaten a campaign in Empire or 3 Kingdoms.

DaC
>>528174034Thanks! Which one would you recommend?
I started playing the base version of Stellaris for the first time today, it's fairly enjoyable but the one thing that bothers me is I will control every system of another faction and they are just idly at war with me doing nothing, but I still have to wait for influence points for claims, which seems really broken. Is there a DLC that fixes this or am I missing something? They don't want to give up either except for the claims I've made. Does Apocalypse / Federations / Nemesis / Overlord fix this?
>>528174607DaC has more factions and more things in general, but it does have some weird balancing things and scripts that might spawn armies out of ass for AI if it's doing poorly against the player, so you might want to look into disabling them. Maybe total war center website forum thread about DaC will have more info, or their discord or whatever the fuck they are using these days.
It has been years since I played DaC, and probably a decade since I played original Third Age.

>>528316332All i want is faster projectiles, faster firing weapons with longer ranges and shit..
>>528316690The wiki has some range stats if you want to have a look. The missile weapons have decent ranges, with the EMP having a max range of 578km. For the base game's primary weapons the Mass Driver looks to have the furthest range, with 12km
https://wiki.egosoft.com:1337/X4%20Foundations%20Wiki/Manual%20and%20Guides/Objects%20in%20the%20Game%20Universe/Equipment/Ship%20Weapons/
>>528313201In my highly biased opinion, Rise of the Empire is best.
It has good art style (unlike the one that came after it), has simple combat (unlike the game that came before it, also known as Heritage of kings, aka "we want the Age of empires audience"- game), and its supply lines, while sufficiently complicated, aren't full on autismo mode like some of the other games in the series.

Bumping with very unstable internet connection.
Starting to get the hang of this game. Simply put, you don't play it like you'd play They Are Billions, you're meant to move around a lot, and get smart with your units positioning so that the enemy artillery is in range of your archers.
Bit too much micromanagement, though. It's very difficult to deal with said artillery, they kill most of your units in two hits, and instantly scare them (-50% movement speed and -50% damage).

1) I put the traps too early, they all expire before the enemies get close.
>>528671937I signed that petition and my country reached 100%. What did you do?
2) I overestimate how good the triage tent is: it doesn't save your "killed" units, it just gives them "a chance" to not die out there and be teleported to the tent.
3) I overestimate the bellows towers. AoE are very good at clearing the chaff, but they cannot win the battle by themselves.
4) I forgot to order the ballista tower to target the toughest enemy in range, leaving the enemy artillery and the skrasher to molest my walls unmolested.
5) I didn't have a plan B in case the first wall was breached. My melee soldiers got slaughtered to a man and my Hero barely made it, and my archers were almost engaged by the time the invaders broke.
>>528682998I signed and got some family members to do so as well. But I never had big hopes, even if this would have passed.

>trying to get back into stellaris
>all the new mechanics from the DLCs
>with complex espionage, relations, trust, liasons, envoys, ambassadors, astral planes, corporate entities, holdings, district rework, federations, overlord, planetcrackers, etc.
>just wanna focus on the 4 axis of industry, diplomacy, military and culture
>each of them have some many extra frills and tussles attached it became impossible to do anything straghtforward
>leaving one out makes you feel like youre not getting the maximum you could get
>impossible to see what information is actually important at the moment
Is there a game that still stays true to a simpler form that allows you to just focus on competing with other empires?
>>529314596espionage can be entirely ignored
>impossible to see what information is actually important at the momentit's really not, you're just overwhelmed because you're not experienced with any of it
>Is there a game that still stays true to a simpler form that allows you to just focus on competing with other empires?genocidal
>>527971419 (OP)>/g*g/ faggots NOT welcomed here. Go to /vst/ and stop shitting up threads with your shittery. Fuck off.why are you so upset. who hurt your feefees?
>>529316348>genocidalI didnt mean "a game of stellaris" I mean a video game in itself
>>529316348I kinda wish espionage was better to actually do harm to an empire, to act similar to a form of army that can take out key targets like space stations or outright prevent planets from producing
Based OP, you pissed off the /gsg/ger before it even started to shitpost.
>>529314596The feature bloat is absolutely crazy now.
