I think that would be great for the game. You can take the loot and run, or you can start up the refinery, attracting attention but producing massive amounts of chemfuel. It would be like the ship launch but you leave when you've decided you have enough fuel and it's not worth staying.

Unironically the first basic tier is best - agrihands to offload the growing, constructoid to help with massive construction, lifters and sweepers for making the colony clean, pretty and fueled up.
Depends on the mods you have too - Centipedes and combat mechs lose much of their awesomeness in CE because you have to provide ammo for them.

also this whole time I thought you needed a radio pack for directing on-map artillery, but apparently that's only needed for cross-map fire (i.e. home base has mortar, caravan has radio)

Seems like you value combat mechs for offense more while I use them more for defense/support while my pawns shoot from the side, that's why I like the urchins
Ultimately I do like both the queen and diabolus but I just almost always build the Queen first

See that makes a lot more sense to me. I was going off of

which would make the queen a lot less useful. In your case, casting a remote shield on the queen and throwing her into the middle of the battlefield is much more useful.
I also use both but I always build diabolus first because I hate clearing stationary threats with human pawns.

nuking has the disadvantage of destroying everything including drops both directly and indirectly, sometimes you can lose things like mech chips that way and nuking and tanking tribals is much easier than higher tech raids especially with lots of rockets. diabolus is also much more effective vs humans in a killbox and i don't use those. for mech clusters and sieges you can't beat diabolus though

I use a collection of around 170 prisoners to run my colony using cum.

Each prisoner is immobilized using leg bindings and arm bindings from Capacity Deprivation. Each has a RJW penis milking machine equipped, alongside a cock sucker from APF Wearable Fucktoys. (For some reason the former doesn't give sex need)

I hadn't played it yet. It just feels weird seeing stuff that should be general base game improvements locked behind expansion. To me, Odyssey content should be about the grav ship + places to take it. Odyssey-exclusive unique biomes, everything in space, and Odyssey-quest related POI all makes sense for being unique, but some revamp stuff that fell out on the way should be base game, like more animal and terrain diversity.

Yeah it seems to be Tang era stuff, that's where you really start to notice the armors that envelop the neck particularly. In the Three Kingdoms era Chinese metallurgy was very primitive compared to more efficiently militarized societies like Rome, and the emphasis was(and has since been, pretty much) fielding larger and larger armies as the scale of warfare involved to encompass the whole country(things like the Yellow Turban Rebellion, despite their absolute lack of military prowess grew out of hand due to not enough troops able to cover all the land). Some smaller pseudo-states had emphasis on really good equipment and specialties but stuff like pic rel would have been considered prohibitively expensive and basically ceremonial, and it's still decades behind basic Roman metallurgists. Most Han dynasty/warlord troops would have had a breastplate of some sort of wood and a jΔ« as their equipment if they were lucky(sharpened bamboo if not). Obviously it doesn't sell and looks kind of lame to have hordes of peasants in robes with looted breastplates stab at each other before a chariot runs them through so Romance depictions typically have them just use Tang or later era armors.

What would you want? I want the DLC that ideology should have been.

Right now, only the raider ideologies have a need go out and raid. If there were more sites, like organ farms, then precepts opposed to slavery and organ use have STORY reasons to go out and fight. Caravanning becomes not just a utility thing, but an RP tool.

On the flip side, factions should be aggressively proselytizing, asking you to stop doing things against their ideology. If they feel strongly about it, like tree worship, they will threaten violence even if you are somehow allies. Their raid targets will reflect the issue they have with you, like trying to free all your livestock if they have animal worship.

This doesn't really solve the issue of journeys being uneventful, but it does give you interesting destinations and faction interactions.

a lot of this DLC seems like a big content pack rather than game-changing new features. so much of it was done already with mods that besides the performance improvements, i find flying animals and freezing water to be the most exciting parts kek.

i wish this DLC was tied to some kind of chronology. generate legendary figures and family trees for their descendants, have refugee joiners actually tied to an event that occurred somewhere on the map, factions should have caravans that actually move on the map. this is definitely better than anomaly and there are a lot of much-needed improvements but i don't think it's going to help improve the world aspect of the game, which is what i still find to be most lacking

Well right now the only faction that feels like it has some kind of history on the planet is, laughably, the mechanoids. Even the empire is just a forgettable spacer faction with better armor. First of all, add some logic to the faction generation so they aren’t just scattered around the map arbitrarily. It doesn’t have to be as deep as (Allah forgive me for uttering this title) Dwarf Fortress, but a little bit of world history generation would go a long way. So maybe add some notable figures to the world generation like caves of qud and make factions leaders and special pawns descended from them. Special pawns and faction leaders should appear in raids more frequently. They could have a special weapon, psycast, or ability which is unique to them, and they hang back while the raid is going on with some bodyguards. If you sneak some pawns around to attack him, it could rout the raid early. Borrow some mechanics from the Nemesis Systemβ„’. His bodyguards carry him off, but next time he adapts his strategy and attacks differently.
We should also find these pawns sometimes in garrisons, so it feels like a boss with a lair. Settlements or regions on the world map should be associated with certain special pawns or clans/families. Give each clan a unique clothing item that is sacred to them because of an action performed by a hero from their history. Associate artifacts with the faction history so you get a relationship bonus with that faction if you possess it or donate it to them.

rimworld is so heavily balanced around food production and preservation that if you install just a single mod that trivializes any aspect of that, the balance gets wildly thrown out of whack

one illustrative example is those colonist lending quests that give mediocre rewards

I have purchased all of them but must say I haven't really explored Anomaly. It appears to clash with my power fantasy desire but I could be wrong. I think out of all of them Biotech is the top. Royalty adds psycasts and high power items. I am sure the lack of those items in vanilla can be overcome with mods (not 100%). Ideology is pretty cool. You can do game shifting restrictions or very minor tweaks to your colony playstyle. I think the colonist joins rituals are very strong and the relics are legendary+ items you can pick.
They each offer a new win condition if that interests you at all.

I mean Odyssey isnt out yet so how can we say? As far as I know there aren't any unofficial leaks so you have just as much info. I think it looks fucking sweet. I get to roll around with my bionic god pawns exploring and looting all sorts of new stuff. Most of the critisism is some features like weather being tied to DLC or tynan stealing mods. Rimworld has thousands of mods. If ideas from every mod made were off-limits the DLCs would be bizarre and likely awful

Anyway, finished the entire codex with Anomalies Expected and Anomalies Expected Addon. I've played the base mod before and it's still fun, but the new speedometer is broken as hell, both figuratively and literally. Setting it to the lowest setting will let the pawn be better than stacking any vanilla enhancement you can possibly do on them for zero drawbacks, and setting it to the highest setting will skyrocket their work speed so high that it overflows back to 1%, crashing their work capabilities.
I'm not really a fan of the add-on. I do like how I'm required to interact with the unknown object to research some of them as opposed to just letting them sit in a storage and have the researcher study it every two days, but the basic level ones are very mild, yet one of the advanced ones that's pretending to be a fucking basic entity is a guaranteed pawn loss and a potential colony ender if you're playing it blind. They give you nearly no warnings and zero hints on how to deal with it before it's too late and it's irreversible once it happens, though it does make for an interesting story. The descriptions are also a little bit sloppier than the base mod (which is already sloppy sometimes).
I'd love to start finishing and reopening the hospital now that the void connection is severed but my TPS is already dead. Oh well, at least I finished all 26 of my Sapsals

Had a silly idea of what to do with excess prisoners from raids.
The idea is this: Since they have the hideous gene, everyone will hate them and consider them a rival. Then, I load them up with things that increase their speed, make them feel less pain, and anything that causes some effect on death (acid blood, explosion, etc.)
This way, they can have this implanted, be enslaved, and then forced to suicide charge into enemies. Maybe it'll thin their numbers a bit, but more importantly, since everyone hates them for being ugly, everyone will be happy when they inevitably die!
I should probably add some gene that prevents them from talking, so they don't end up building relations through conversations and become non-hated.

I only saw one test of a lategame colony, and the TPS went from 150 to 250. With mods included, that may be even less, since modders or lazy 1.6 ports may not take advantage of variable tick rate.

I can think of a lot of mods that could take advantage of VTR for the majority of its systems. But that comes with a lot of rewriting and even more debugging.

The original main building has been gutted and refurbished. It now has an upfitted prison barracks, and an updated family room for Jon and Kimi, the colony's first married pair and parents.
It now is home to the ideology room for the colony and what was the storage/workshop space will become a library/art studio.
Side note, it annoys me I can't paint the kneel sheets.
Ignore the fact that the whole building was squeezed one tile so the altar and lectern could be centered.

Unfortunately no, the Connection isn't classified as a bad status. The symptoms do get classified as one so you're supposed to use a healer serum then, but because I was playing blind I didn't know what the symptoms actually meant because it didn't tell me much, nor was there any warning that it was there because I only found it by accident.
By the way, I actually didn't know dragonian orbs come from butchering dragonians, so thanks for that. That's pretty grim.

I have all my music on a plex server in my basement. I use PlexAmp to play it. It's pretty good. Rated every single one of the 9000 songs I have on a scale of 1-5 and now have auto generating playlists for 3 and up, 4 and up, 5 star, plus more curated playlists for various moods, feels, and vibes that I've crafted myself. I'm pretty happy with it. Set it up to work remotely too so I can listen to it on the move.

btw Navidrome + Feishin is a really good platform for local music. I used Plex and Jellyfin in the past but Navidrome has a lot of QOL improvements over them both IMO. I also set up a RimWorld playlist with all of the original soundtracks and other cozy/ambient songs because I wasn't happy with the music mods.
