I think that would be great for the game. You can take the loot and run, or you can start up the refinery, attracting attention but producing massive amounts of chemfuel. It would be like the ship launch but you leave when you've decided you have enough fuel and it's not worth staying.

My colony is staffed mostly with Android Tiers drones, and is run in 1.4

Right now, only the raider ideologies have a need go out and raid. If there were more sites, like organ farms, then precepts opposed to slavery and organ use have STORY reasons to go out and fight. Caravanning becomes not just a utility thing, but an RP tool.
On the flip side, factions should be aggressively proselytizing, asking you to stop doing things against their ideology. If they feel strongly about it, like tree worship, they will threaten violence even if you are somehow allies. Their raid targets will reflect the issue they have with you, like trying to free all your livestock if they have animal worship.
This doesn't really solve the issue of journeys being uneventful, but it does give you interesting destinations and faction interactions.

>>528083536Well right now the only faction that feels like it has some kind of history on the planet is, laughably, the mechanoids. Even the empire is just a forgettable spacer faction with better armor. First of all, add some logic to the faction generation so they arenโt just scattered around the map arbitrarily. It doesnโt have to be as deep as (Allah forgive me for uttering this title) Dwarf Fortress, but a little bit of world history generation would go a long way. So maybe add some notable figures to the world generation like caves of qud and make factions leaders and special pawns descended from them. Special pawns and faction leaders should appear in raids more frequently. They could have a special weapon, psycast, or ability which is unique to them, and they hang back while the raid is going on with some bodyguards. If you sneak some pawns around to attack him, it could rout the raid early. Borrow some mechanics from the Nemesis Systemโข. His bodyguards carry him off, but next time he adapts his strategy and attacks differently.
We should also find these pawns sometimes in garrisons, so it feels like a boss with a lair. Settlements or regions on the world map should be associated with certain special pawns or clans/families. Give each clan a unique clothing item that is sacred to them because of an action performed by a hero from their history. Associate artifacts with the faction history so you get a relationship bonus with that faction if you possess it or donate it to them.
Those are a few ideas off the top of my head, Iโm sure we can come up with more.

I have purchased all of them but must say I haven't really explored Anomaly. It appears to clash with my power fantasy desire but I could be wrong. I think out of all of them Biotech is the top. Royalty adds psycasts and high power items. I am sure the lack of those items in vanilla can be overcome with mods (not 100%). Ideology is pretty cool. You can do game shifting restrictions or very minor tweaks to your colony playstyle. I think the colonist joins rituals are very strong and the relics are legendary+ items you can pick.
They each offer a new win condition if that interests you at all.
I mean Odyssey isnt out yet so how can we say? As far as I know there aren't any unofficial leaks so you have just as much info. I think it looks fucking sweet. I get to roll around with my bionic god pawns exploring and looting all sorts of new stuff. Most of the critisism is some features like weather being tied to DLC or tynan stealing mods. Rimworld has thousands of mods. If ideas from every mod made were off-limits the DLCs would be bizarre and likely awful

Anyway, finished the entire codex with Anomalies Expected and Anomalies Expected Addon. I've played the base mod before and it's still fun, but the new speedometer is broken as hell, both figuratively and literally. Setting it to the lowest setting will let the pawn be better than stacking any vanilla enhancement you can possibly do on them for zero drawbacks, and setting it to the highest setting will skyrocket their work speed so high that it overflows back to 1%, crashing their work capabilities.
I'm not really a fan of the add-on. I do like how I'm required to interact with the unknown object to research some of them as opposed to just letting them sit in a storage and have the researcher study it every two days, but the basic level ones are very mild, yet one of the advanced ones that's pretending to be a fucking basic entity is a guaranteed pawn loss and a potential colony ender if you're playing it blind. They give you nearly no warnings and zero hints on how to deal with it before it's too late and it's irreversible once it happens, though it does make for an interesting story. The descriptions are also a little bit sloppier than the base mod (which is already sloppy sometimes).
I'd love to start finishing and reopening the hospital now that the void connection is severed but my TPS is already dead. Oh well, at least I finished all 26 of my Sapsals

Had a silly idea of what to do with excess prisoners from raids.
The idea is this: Since they have the hideous gene, everyone will hate them and consider them a rival. Then, I load them up with things that increase their speed, make them feel less pain, and anything that causes some effect on death (acid blood, explosion, etc.)
This way, they can have this implanted, be enslaved, and then forced to suicide charge into enemies. Maybe it'll thin their numbers a bit, but more importantly, since everyone hates them for being ugly, everyone will be happy when they inevitably die!
I should probably add some gene that prevents them from talking, so they don't end up building relations through conversations and become non-hated.

I've been thinking about making a colony with several layers that works like a stratified society with large areas where only citizens of a specific rank are allowed to work and live

The original main building has been gutted and refurbished. It now has an upfitted prison barracks, and an updated family room for Jon and Kimi, the colony's first married pair and parents.
It now is home to the ideology room for the colony and what was the storage/workshop space will become a library/art studio.
Side note, it annoys me I can't paint the kneel sheets.
Ignore the fact that the whole building was squeezed one tile so the altar and lectern could be centered.

The symptoms do get classified as one so you're supposed to use a healer serum then, but because I was playing blind I didn't know what the symptoms actually meant because it didn't tell me much, nor was there any warning that it was there because I only found it by accident.
