They are also virulently hateful towards the actual aliens in this setting outside almost without fail. The latter makes way more sense to me because contacting Grendyl is something seen as an act of last resort (Brahms), and if he was Zoom calling in every time they got another batch of convicted dipshits to throw into the meat grinder he'd never be getting anything done.

Why does vet keep getting singled out when he's the least overpowered of the four? All he has that's special in havoc is ammo aura. Ogryn has constant bleeds that don't run out and boss damage and is the tankiest, zealot also has CDR out the ass and piss toughness that also gives everyone damage on top of flamer, psyker gives everyone CDR and has flame staff which was even buffed last year wtf. What plasma gun does at close range is replicated or done better by other classes, what it does at longer ranges doesn't matter because of bubble and brain burst.

There are shit weapons in the game that need to be buffed to be on the same level as recon lasgun, boltgun, revolver, etc. But buffing them all to the level of plasma would break the game. And nerfing plasma is simply easier. And it's not just a nerf, it also makes it function as intended, with charged shots not being dogshit compared to snap shots.
Then again, a nerf to plasma is a nerf to veteran, who's already the weakest class. That's why they delay the nerf until they rework veteran. When veteran is buffed, plasma nerf will be a non-issue. All they need to do is add some nodes for ranged damage and cleave, and it will make nerfed plasma just as good as it was before the nerf, while also not powercreeping other weapons.

Bolter is the most balanced weapon in this case. Plasma gun has none of those downsides, and its actual downsides can easily be ignored, and for that it deserves a nerf, but not before Veteran can achieve a consistent level of specialist-targeting with other weapons, which in my view he is only able to with weapons with high cleave value due to the nature of hordes.

Charged shots have always been shit in a vacuum even disregarding the primary fire, why bother with heat and venting and risk blowing up when a revolver will end up having the same amount of effective ammo and just as much reload downtime with all the venting plasma does? Plasma only ever has value because of the primary being good. The leaked nerf halves plasma's effective ammo pool if not more, and it has around 100 basic shots from full ammo.
I agree that the primary fire overshadows the charge, but they couldn't even be bothered to do an interesting nerf and give both fire modes their own unique purpose, instead it won't even one shot a fucking flamer or elite gunner and you'll be using twice as much ammo if you charge your shots frame perfectly, up to three times in a real game.

My is issue what they intend to do will factually make it worse than the Helbore after the buffs to the Helbore. Look at the changes in the blog post (increasing the hit scan size, changing swap speed, more damage versus every enemy type). Then recall that Shocktrooper exists and the Helbore gets Surgical and Weight of Fire. What this means is that you will be popping off charged shots almost instantly, do more damage, never run out of ammo, can quick swap, and also never miss your shot because they made the hitscan larger.

I am actually glad that the Helbore is getting some genuine love here, but there are other ways to go about this. Especially with the Vet's tree being by far the worst out of the five classes. It's a very strong class, for now, but the moment they hurt the Plasma you will see people second guess bringing it along if they think that ammo won't be a problem. I wouldn't be fretting over this if I hadn't already gone through this once before with the Ogryn.

It means less to me now since I am actually looking forward to play with the Arbites a great deal, but it's really going to suck balls for Vet players to get told to shove it during Havocs. It won't be nearly so bad as Ogryn's had it, sure, because VoC, Shredders, and Survivalist will always be there but it's still going to hurt.

I'm only willing to accept that claim if you're talking exclusively havoc, and havoc is an inherently unbalanced and unfair mode that demands specific mechanics to be used, and skews balance in a weird way. For example, flamer is absolutely miserable to use in anything easier than high-intensity aurics, and even there the enemy density isn't usually enough to justify using such a clunky weapon. Then suddenly it becomes insanely broken in high havoc.
The average retard that keeps bitching about plasma can't even use the weapon to any effect whatsoever. I literally never see it used well. Is this a server specific thing where euros simply haven't caught on to the supposed plasma meta?

I do agree that plasma SHOULD receive minor nerfs, especially if that means making the secondary fire the focus, because the primary fire is unfun to use, but I also think the issue is massively blown out of proportion, and it's actually havoc that's at the root of the problem.

Recon is literally the best ranged Vet weapon. Everyone hyper focused on the Plasma because it's flashier and you can't use Recon on H40 due to the ammo reduction. Recon burn stack builds with Untranny synergy mogs the Plasma generally speaking since you never need to stop shooting (thanks Stormtrooper). Unlike the Plasma where you do have a cap on the number of shots you can get off before you need to slow your roll either to stop from the overheat animation kicking in, or because you pushed to overheat. Recon is so brain dead with Shredder/VoC that I've literally just played Aurics where I hold W+M1 and throw my grenades every time they refresh. Never needing to reload, and on multiple occasions I've cracked a million damage. This isn't a show of skill, it's a point that Recon is so fucking powerful that you don't even need to actually "play" the game. A bot could do this.

And even if you max it out, trying to horde clear will end your melee buffs in less than 10 attacks. It's a noob trap, weapons specialist only needs you to get a single ranged kill regardless of if you're surrounded by 50 crushers or 50 poxwalkers, the ranged component of it barely existed. For the skill point cost you invested in this you might as well have gotten the +10% ranged and melee damage nodes at the top of the tree, or any of the +15% damage for simply existing nodes that are at the bottom, and it would do the same thing without any conditions.
It's Arbites' weakest keystone by far, forceful gives you 25% strength permanently with dash and 10% attack speed but is the most talent point intensive; execution order depending on how it marks targets isn't as conditional as having to waste ammo on poxwalkers, has the only CDR in the tree, crit chance, and has the biggest return on a single point investment if you ignore modifiers.

There's a new challenge mode called havoc that has made this general extremely butthurt since its inception. Most players are too retarded to make it past the 20-30 range, including just about everyone who can't shut the fuck up about it. The max level is 40, where you are basically forced to abide by an arbitrary meta of infinite cleave bullshit, cuck bubbles, and gold toughness on everyone that can bring it. It's unbalanced, unfair, and unfun to most. I'm personally just glad that I already have my true survivor and all of the other penances.
Havoc 2.0 happened rrrrelatively recently which made it arguably even more bullshit with 5 bosses spawning at the same time in higher levels. No, it's not actually good, but it's a novel challenge and rewards insane amounts of mats.

Ogryn was borderline non-viable and basically had no good builds. This made the ogryn mains mad, so fatshark pushed out a "rework" that made the class braindead easy to be borderline broken as, you just need a good build. Every class has easy builds in aurics, but ogryn has that, and can afford to make mistakes non-stop because you now get retarded amounts of damage resistance and still have 400 HP and a free wound. Ogryn is about on par with the other classes in havoc 40 now, but it's disgusting how much the game plays itself in lower difficulties.

There's also Sefoni's goon dimension, but its only value is novelty. Other than that it's a glorified lore dump. They're adding auric difficulty in the upcoming patch next week, so maybe it'll be more fun, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

NTA, skullcrusher blessing defines the weapon. Mark III has good horde clear with heavy-light-repeat, and strong overheads with light into heavy spam. The move set is a little awkward to get used to, similar to how relic blade works, but it's pretty rewarding once you get the hang of it.
For the second blessing I've had the most success with hammerblow for extra impact, letting me throw shit around. High voltage should also be good, but I haven't tested it that much.
For perks, I've had the most success with flak + maniac, both mostly for ragers. I don't think it's good enough against carapace to warrant using it against crushers. The special is great for opening up bulwarks, but the unyielding damage is also a little disappointing.

Overall, the weapon is actually a little disappointing. It's very mid and has poor cleave, but it's about to receive major buffs. I'm not sure how good it'll be on other classes, but the actual reason it'll be used on arbites is skullcrusher working on monstrosities with picrel, swapping over to bolter or fire shotgun, and obliterating them. Or just whacking the weak spot for team support. You're nearly doubling damage.
The class also gets the crusher, which also has skullcrusher.

I'm so confused coming back to this game after 2 years because all my skill trees have been reset except for zealot, which for some reason got randomized and all my loadouts had their ranged weapons replaced. I don't even know where to begin remaking everything and the new weapon upgrade system is impenetrable, the last time I played we were still watching the shop for decent drops every hour then hoping to get lucky when rolling perks otherwise your weapon would get bricked. The new UI is absolutely incomprehensible. Probably even more confusing for any poor new players.

Skill trees have been remade a fair bit so you'll need to relearn them. Weapons got simplified so instead of being 3 different colored assault rifles you now have 1 assault rifle and choose its type in the inventory. Hadron still handles all the upgrading. Weapons need to be leveled 1-20 to unlock all blessings after which you can freely customize and respec them.

I played the game and refunded it after just over 3 hours (was surprised steam allowed me to). The key issues are lack of weapon/build variety and an unforgivably small amount of content.
We're talking 6 weapons, 5x 20 minute missions with maybe 5? (maybe 4) enemy variants and a special enemy in some unique missions.
The game has unbelievably bad onboarding and semi random tooltips but I think coping fags spend too much time speaking about this and not the pathetic amount of content.

Depends on what you use it for. If you're only in it for uncanny strike, and the blessing only gets nerfed on the toothpick, it's shovel, knife and force sword. If you need a melee can opener, it's power sword, force sword and relic blade. Knife still works, it just specifically requires a crit build.

I'm playing it right now, having fun and currently grinding Samples for perks and also tryin to 100% the achievements. The game has reached a point where only the people who care enough about the game to learn shit and know how to play are still playing, it's a great time.

It's fun, it has great underlying mechanics (that are not explained properly anywhere) with potential for some pretty chaotic co-op but it is absolutely not worth 40 dollars considering what else you can get on the current market for that price
I will say that a lot of the criticism regarding onboarding and how the game explains stuff is valid, but I suspect a lot of the negative reviews in launch were a bit dishonest. They were mostly with playtimes in the 0.3-1.6 hour range which means they never even got a decent amount of perk slots to play around with, didn't even unlock Tool kit mods and they speedran the first Clearance level of every job (the Clearance system is just dumb by the way, but I'll only expand on that if you care enough to know more) and this is also the only game I've ever left a positive review for that prompted someone to add me and post an angry comment on my fucking profile accusing me of shilling.

The game is incomplete, flawed, and when you realize the game was done with almost no budget and almost didn't make it out the door because the company had zero faith in it you suddenly understand why it is the way it is a lot more. But I think I'll get at least another 10 hours out of this game regardless.

Remedy has a history of somehow getting big publishers and convincing them to give them an infinite budget to do whatever the fuck they want with and then putting out stuff that's received extremely well but somehow still never making any profit. AW2 for example was a massive fucking success but it only broke even towards the very end of last year.
Firebreak also released on the Game pass for free concurrently with the $40 Steam release, so I think this might again just be Remedy trying to play nice with publishers in order to get money to get their next game on the market. Or to even finish it in the first place.
