not pictured but, making sure physics objects can be flammable / doused, touched up player abilities and interactions, changing how hazards work at low % speed, so arrows or bullets will just bounce off you if you freeze time, etc etc

- My first game ideas being either content heavy (RPGs), or mechanically complex (like Dwarf Fortress), when I should have focused on something small but with dense gameplay, like an arcade game.
- Also wasted around 2 years working on 2 collabs, one from here and another from /v/ that didn't go anywhere, everyone just ghosted everyone and stopped responding.
Perhaps my biggest sin was thinking "I'm young, I have time to build myself and learn the skills I need". But years passed and my youth slipped away through my fingers like sand. If I were a bit more aware of how little time I have I might have realized "no you idiot you don't have time to make a 60 hour RPG or learn professional 3D modeling from scratch, just block out the gameplay with some asset packs for now and try your hand at box modeling later or maybe even get an artist to replace your ugly art you're going to get old soon. If you can't make a fun 1 hour game why are you so confident you can make a fun +30 hour game?"

I've been working on a new project for the past couple of weeks. It is a handball game with rpg elements.
So far I've done movements, camera transitions and set-up a menu system. The pass animation is added, but it looks as though it needs to be more dramatic. But next I actually have to change possession from one player to another.

Haven't posted in a while. Passed my PhD confirmation and got a full stipend scholarship worth 36k a year tax free for three years. With my tutoring and freelance contract work, that pushes me up to about 90-100k a year, so feeling pretty comfortable now. Last thing on my agenda is getting this game out this year.
I've been doing a lot of backend work to get shops, battles and events generated. It's all hooked up to debug statements, I just need to hook up the UI and create some more assets.
Last thing to do is combat, which is essentially completing the item behaviour and programming the tag interactions.
University is wrapped up now, so I've got pretty much everyday free until the start of next semester in August.

But it had issues, Starcraft shows this well. Working on a pseudo-RTS within a strategy board game shell. You move assets between points on a map, "zoom" into points to build bases, and watch battles occur over them using crude NPC logic. I just habitually went with the GBA-inspired sprites for an older build, but would it be better if I force myself to learn Blender and go for a 90s RTS look? Any other style suggestions?
